AstreOS is going through an overhaul, as we are adding some AI features and 
sonification tools to analyse the objects in the skies.

the original project was simply to make things accessible in the augmented 
reality sense, but between adding the entire universe, uni, a ted talk, the 
Holman prize, covid and others, I don't have the deep pockets that some other 
companies have, so I am working on the new features with another developer who 
is supporting the code for the backend.

I will put the new version up tomorrow and link the public test flight through 
this thread if anyone is interested.

Hi Richard,
Now SuperSense supports Arabic and Hebrew and about sixty languages. I tried it 
with Hebrew and Arabic and it is okay. Yes I have been using Seeing AI and 
Voice Dream Scanner for all of my English OCR needs. They do a very good job. I 
have also bought the KNFB reader few years ago and to my dismay I consider my 
100 dollars to have been a loss. I am hesitant to buy SuperSense afraid I may 
regret few months down the road. I am not sure if the developer would continue 
to support the app, or if the free and low cost  apps would start to support 
non-Latin-Based languages.

When I had tried it a few months ago, I was not impressed. It only mentions 
English, Hindi and Turkish and I think Spanish for languages it works in, but 
it does not say what languages it scans. 
If you are really interested, you may want to try it before buying if you man

I am not sure if it supports Urdu. Download the app and try it for two weeks 
free and see if it supports Urdu. I tried it for Arabic and Hebrew and it does 
an okay job.

Hi Everyone,

AstreOS is going through an overhaul, as we are adding some AI features and 
sonification tools to analyse the objects in the skies.

the original project was simply to make things accessible in the augmented 
reality sense, but between adding the entire universe, uni, a ted talk, the 
Holman prize, covid and others, I don't have the deep pockets that some other 
companies have, so I am working on the new features with another developer who 
is supporting the code for the backend.

I will put the new version up tomorrow and link the public test flight through 
this thread if anyone is interested.

iPhone. Do a one finger double tap on the photo to open it. Swipe to the word 
more. Double tap on it and the first choice is save photo which will save it to

When I had tried it a few months ago, I was not impressed. It only mentions 
English, Hindi and Turkish and I think Spanish for languages it works in, but 
it does not say what languages it scans.

SuperSense is on sale, is it worth buying?

Hi folks,
supersense is now on sale until the end of the year, is it worth buying? I 
think one time life subscription is 49 US dollars,. I know that there are much 
less expensive scanning and OCR apps, but unfortunately they do not do 
non-latin-based languages like Arabic or Hebrew. what do you think?

You have to go into settings, accessibility, voice over, and rotor, then 
select the 'described images' in the rotor options, then it will appear on 
your rotor options when you turn the rotor.

Hi aall wile flicking through my I phone running ios 4.2 r what ever the latest 
version is it is a I phoe 8 vo sys blue sky and I am wondering where I would go 
to turn this off? I have checked the roader and don't see anything about 
described images I see containers, words, charicters, and containers and that's 
it. Can some one let me know how to turne this up and where to go to find it?

I turned off scene description but it has apply to apps. Should I choose that 
or just turn off scene description? I have done what you all suggest but I’m 
still seeing it with messages and mail again. I had it turned off in mail but 
it’s back. I have the iPhone 6S plus. I don’t have voice recognition.

If it shows up in any app, just go to the rotor and turn it off by flicking. 
Once it is off, you won't have to do it again.


Just make sure you turn the rotor to characters or words, so you won't 
accidently enable it again.

You might try opening the app store on your watch and searching for it there. 
YOu can use dictation for the search. I would hope that since you've paid for 
the app and it's supposed to include a watch app, it would be available for 
free.

There is one more possible option that could produce the unwanted descriptions, 
at least for those of us who have iphones that do not support the new Voiceover 
Recognition feature. Under Settings / Accessibility / Voiceover / Verbosity, 
there is an item called "scene description". Try turning this off if you still 
encounter the extra Blue Sky verbiage.

I can’t get it off for messages but I got it off for everything else. Do I 
actually have to open messages, then go to describe images with the rotor and 
flick to turn it off? What a pain this is.

not stop it. Go into the rotor, and add describe images. Then, when you 
encounter this stuff, turn the rotor to describe images, and do a one-finger 
swipe up, and it will say describe images off for the app that you are in. You

Skyview and Apple Watch

Do any of you that have the Skyview app, have an Apple Watch?
You are supposed to be able to get it onto the watch, but I'll be damned if I 
can figure that out.
I went ahead and paid the $1.99 to get the full version.

Any ideas?

I just tried it again by pointing the camera at the sky and it is amazingly 
nice with VoiceOver.
Then, I discovered, it works indoors, even though the camera is only showing 
stuff in the house, it is reporting the stars etc., you would be pointing at if 
you were outside I guess.
I saw until I was 12 and we spent lots and lots of time in the outdoors, 
camping in the Sierra mountains, or on the beach around Big Sur,  and did lots 
of star gazing at night, so I have always had a fascination with that kind of 
information.

Saturn are going to be aligned on December 21st.  The first time in 800 years.

It is fairly accurate, and works perfectly with VoiceOver.  There is 
a history application that will mail your history to anyone.  I 
usually mail it to myself, then print it for the doctor.  You control 
it with the phone, tapping to start it, then reading the results on 
the screen.

May have to check out SkyView Lite myself. It’s a shame the other project seems 
to have been pulled, as I would have enjoyed it too. I used to be a high 
partial myself and even had a small telescope for a while.

I have an 8 Plus and I recall turning 3D touch off at one point because it was 
getting in the way, actually. There is a way to send audio messages through 
Siri. Don’t know what the time limit is, presumably as ong as Siri recognizes 
you talking or whatever the chunk limit is that Siri can handle. There may be 
ways of using the back tap or custom defined gestures I haven’t messed with to 
achieve what you want as well. 
Applvis had a short podcast in September that was a demo of how to send an 
audio message with Siri.

You can also just do a single finger flick up or down until you get to previous 
or next, but the three finger flick up or down is much easier and quicker. Just 
goes to show, that sometimes there is more than one way to do things!

to that, I'd do a triple tap and then flick down to previous and next widget.

Widget Tips

In playing with multiple widgets, I learned a few things that I thought I would 
pass along.

1, To conserve space, I picked out 4 widgets I wanted to use, and after adding 
them to my home screen, I then used the same steps as in moving apps, and made 
a stack of all 4 widgets.
2, By doing a single triple tap on your widget stack, one choice in the pop up 
menu is edit stack. This will let you put your widgets in whatever order you 
want.
3, Smart rotating, is a setting found in edit stack. Turned on, will 
automatically change which widget is on top according to what it thinks you 
want to see at that time. I have that turned off so I can control which widget 
is on top and what I see.
4, The single triple tap also has the choice of editing the widget that is 
currently on top. Some widgets gives you options on what information to display 
and how to display it.
5, A quick way of moving between widgets is by doing a three finger flick up or 
down while on your stack of widgets. Three finger flick down goes to next 
widget, and three finger flick up goes to prior widget.
6, Other than giving you quick information from an app, do not forget that a 
widget can also be a shortcut to open that particular app.

Skyview light seems to be pretty accessible, though not designed for the blind

I actually like this new method.
I strongly dislike having to flick up or down to set the time by very small 
increments.
I also use Siri a lot to set appointments, and that bypasses the need to deal 
with any of that.

I have had no issues with using Siri for appointments when I use a pattern 
like: “set an appointment for December 15, at 9 AM titled doctor Jones.”
Or, “set a 90 minute appointment for 9 Am on December 15th, titled Go shopping.”

It would appear that the time field has been converted into an edit box and, as 
Mr. Turner suggested, you do not enter the colon (: ) character.

I was able to add a calendar item, but I certainly do not care much for this 
change!
I do have Fantastical installed on my iPhones, I do believe that will be my go 
to Calendar app from this point on. At least, so long as they have this screwy 
time entry procedure in the native calendar.

I have not tried using BSI with the Calendar app for entering time since the 
number pad is right there and you do not need the colon between hours and 
minutes.
So, the native Calendar app is working fine for me.

QARDIOARM blood pressure monitor?

I have just ordered a QARDIOARM blood pressure monitor having recently 
undergone a laparoscopic nephrectomy of my left kidney.

I would be grateful for any tips as to the use of the  QARDIOARM from a blind
