Sounds like you might need to get a new iPhone. I'd also contact

sluggish iphone issues anyone?

2022-03-17 Thread Yohandy

Hello,

Not sure if this is due to the fact I have an older Iphone XR, however
I've been noticing some sluggishness recently. Not too certain when it
all started, however I'm getting some strange behavior. Like Voiceover
crashing and restarting itself randomly, for instance. I also noticed
issues with haptics, they appear to lag behind my gestures, and don't
feel as fluid as they once did. these issues occur quite a lot if I
scroll quickly through apps, but not always. It's almost random. Any
ideas? thanks in advanced!

How to change the location in the weather widget on my iPad

2022-03-17 Thread Mary Otten
Hi all,
I have a new iPad Mini sixth generation. Strangely, it doesn’t have a Weather
app on it, it didn’t even take the Weather app from my iPhone when I did a
restore. I have other Weather apps, but not the Apple one. So when I go to
where the weather widget is, it’s showing me Cupertino. I don’t live there
sadly. I’m in the same time zone, and I would like to change the location to
match my own, rather than apples. I haven’t found an obvious way to do that.

Subscribed calendars not showing up on all devices.

2022-03-17 Thread Mary Otten
Recently, I have subscribed to a couple of calendars, where you get a link and
then you go and it lets you add the subscribed calendar to your Apple calendar.
So I have two of these things on my iPhone. I have an older iPhone, which is
still getting updates, and I’m not seeing those subscriptions on that device.
I’m wondering why not. Don’t they sync to iCloud? Or do I have to subscribe
each time I want to add one of these calendars to a different device? That
seems weird.
Mary

Go to Settings, Face ID and passcode, enter your passcode, swipe to
require attention for face ID and make sure it’s turned off. This should
have been off by default if you initially set up your iPhone 13 Mini with
Voiceover running. I haven’t heard that this setting affects face ID
recognition in the dark but it certainly makes face ID much easier for
 the visually impaired.

Accessible Wordle (minorninth.github.io)

Re: Looking for accessible language learning Apps

2022-03-17 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all, I’m late to this thread, but another recommendation is Memrise. A part
of Memrise that is fun is native speakers. I have used the app off and on for a
couple years. Give it a try. It’s a different approach from DuoLingo. They are
great to have side by side.

RE: Performing a reset on an iPhone SE

2022-03-17 Thread Alan Lemly
Wayne,

Your student needs to determine whether he has an iPhone SE first generation or
SE second generation commonly called the SE 2020. The first generation model is
physically smaller than the SE 2020 which is the same physical size as the
iPhone 7 and 8. Also, the first generation SE has a headphone jack while the SE
2020 does not.

Here is how to reset for both models:

* SE first generation: Press and hold both the right side power button
and the Home button at the same time. I would recommend holding them for at
least 12 seconds. The Apple logo will appear but this is entirely visual with
no audible cues. Release both buttons after 12 seconds.
* SE 2020: Press and release the volume up button (top left side)
quickly followed by a quick press and release of the volume down button (middle
left side just below volume up) and then press and hold the right side power
button for about 12 seconds and then release.

Users will be required to enter their device’s passcode after doing a reset.

Subject: Performing a reset on an iPhone SE

Hello. One of my students has an iPhone SE. He is not sure of the model or year
number. I thought there was a way I could have him do a software reset using
the home and power buttons. I did a YouTube search and those videos said to use
the volume and side buttons and not the home button. Could someone clear this
up for me and give steps for doing a software reset? He is having an issue with
Siri and the phone's speech coming out of the handset versus from the speaker.
I thought that perhaps a reset would fix the problem.

Many thanks,

Wayne Merritt

I have Light Detector and it works fine.
You may need to go into settings and toggle the permission to use the camera.
Or try the Light Detector in Seeing AI or see if Boop Light detector is still
available. It was free and instead of a steady tone it beeps.

Re: Performing a reset on an iPhone SE

2022-03-17 Thread rowdyameri...@shaned.net
Your friend can find out if he has the SE first or second gen by doing the
following:

1. Go into settings.
2. Go to general.
3. Go to about and he can find the information there.

If he has the first gen he needs to hold the home button and the sleep/wake
button together for about 10 seconds. Then the phone will restart. If he has
the second gen he needs to quickly press volume up, then press volume down
quickly, then hold the side button in for about 10 seconds and the phone should
restart.
