RE: Apple TV

2022-06-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The Apple Remote uses a Lightning cable to charge, same as you r phone and
since you can plug a Lightning cable in either way it should really be quite
easy. Of course if you try to plug in a Micro USB or USB-C cable you will not
have much luck.

I am thinking of getting hte latest Apple TV device.  I didn't care for the
previous one, I did really like the 3rd generation of Apple tv though, the
remote was easier to use, in my opinion.

I couldn't fit the usb thing in the end to charge it.  I hope the newer remote
is easier to use.

Richard and Jenny,
Thanks for the information. I have followed your steps Richard, but my swoosh
when sending a text message is still not sounding. I cannot find it anywhere. I

That message is not from VoiceOver.
You apparently have Voice Control on, which has nothing to do with VoiceOver.
Voice Control is the feature for people who have trouble using the touch screen
and want to control the phone by voice commands. When the phone is locked, it
says Voice Control is no longer listening.
Tell Siri, Turn Off Voice Control.

If the mute switch is not on, then check the following.
First, just check settings, sounds and haptics, and make sure the sounds you
want are all selected.
If that doesn't fix the problem, there may be issues with the new layout in iOS
15.

With iOS 15, they added an extra layer.
Go to settings, mail, Notifications, and the last item on that screen will be
customize notifications.
Go in there and set your sound notifications.

HTH.

Hello everyone,
I finally had to take the plunge because my 5S gave up the ghost. I now have a
2022 3. I have found the selections for indicating when I receive new emails,
texts, and voice mails. I have selected my preferred sounds, but I hear no
sounds when the messages arrive. I also used to hear the swoosh sound when I
sent a text message, but this too is not sounding now. All I hear when sending
a text is "done."
Please give me step by step where I can go to fix this.

Also, I keep getting "voice over is no longer listening" along with the sound
that indicates the phone is off. How can I turn that verbal announcement off?

Many thanks for any help.

Marilyn

RE: bluetooth headphones

2022-06-06 Thread CJ & AA MAY
Thanks for these tips. It was so easy pairing my Ipods with my iphone that I
rather naively assumed the same would be the case with these Bluetooth
headphones.

However, when I ask my Google Home speaker to pair with my Iphone, it tells me
to go to Settings and then Bluetooth and then look for Sittingroom Speaker and
then pair – but my Iphone isn’t seeing the sittingroom speaker.

My standard headphones don’t seem to fit into the lightning port of my new SE

dongle device which plugs into the charging lightning port and has an extension
into which you can plug your standard headphones.

And of course all Bluetooth devices typically have to be put in pairing mode if
you use them for the first time with your iPhone.

Some devices may have a dedicated button, others you have to push and hold the
on/off button for 5 seconds after you turn them on and yet others may ask you
to push something like volume up as you power them on.

The fact is you just don’t know what it is unless you know the exact make and
model of your device and look it up.

RE: bluetooth headphones

2022-06-06 Thread CJ & AA MAY
When I got my new SE Iphone a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t receive a charger
or Bluetooth headphones. The guy in the shop said there is a move for all
mobile phones, whether they be android or Apple devices, to use the same power
outlets so it will not matter which mobile phone you are charging as the new
chargers will suit any and all phones.

My friend has purchased via Amazon a little dongle which plugs into the
recharing outlet and into which you can fit your traditional headphones, which
I think I will invest in.

Apple TV

2022-06-06 Thread Patti Johnson
I am thinking of getting hte latest Apple TV device.  I didn't care for
the previous one, I did really like the 3rd generation of Apple tv
though, the remote was easier to use, in my opinion.

I couldn't fit the usb thing in the end to charge it.  I hope the newer
remote is easier to use.

RE: accessible metronome app for watch currently free

2022-06-06 Thread Richard Turner
AS for digital crown navigation, because it is easier than swiping on the watch
face.
And now that I have been reminded how easy it is to toggle it on and off with a
two finger triple tap, I can easily use it when it is most useful and turn it
off when that is best.

I’m kind of new to the watch. Other than this metronome app, why would you use
Digital Crown navigation? Thanks.

Re: how to remove a way the activity and some others from the rotor?

2022-06-06 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Anthony,

Can you tell us what you mean by switch control? I think that is a issue in the
touch settings under accessibility.

I can tell you how to delete things from your rotor.

1. Go to settings, accessibility, VoiceOver, rotor
2. Swipe right through these items. If they say selected, then they are in your
rotor. If they just announce the item without saying selected, then they are
not in there. Do deselect them, just double tap on them. There are also reorder
buttons next to them. You can move them up or down depending on how you want
the presented. You have to drag them around to accomplish this. Hope this helps,

Jenn

I also would like to know if the switch control should be on or off?

I have an iphone se.
