RE: What Are the Cable-Ends Called That go in Charger?

2023-02-18 Thread Fazil M.
Thank you, Don.

Again, sorry for my insufficient jargons,

does iPhone12 have lightning port? Is lightning port the one that goes in the
phone or in the charger?

Thanks!

As long as you have a lightning port on the apple end of the cable you can use
either charger. I am sure you can find both chargers at your local Walmart.
This is happening because The EU. Witch has a big market share in the world is
standardizing the usb c port. So you can use either charger with two ports. You
just have to decide if you want one with type a ports or type c ports witch is
the new standard. As long is there is a lightning port on one end of the cable.

Subject: What Are the Cable-Ends Called That go in Charger?

Hi, Group.

I am ashamed of my scanty vocabulary.

I have iPhone8 and 12. the cable-ends of these phones that go in charger are
different from each-other.

What Are these two ends called?

The reason I am asking this is that I need a charger that has two ports that
can accept iPhone12 and one port for iPhone8.

What should I look for on Amazon or in any other store?

Thanks!

Re: Accessible crossword puzzle apps

2023-02-18 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Donna,

I usually play on my iPad, but I have also played on the phone. Setting
VoiceOver to skip all images results in each letter only being spoken once. The
first letter you hear as you flick down is the required letter. Double-tapping
enters the letter.

I hope that helps.

Best,
Anna

2023-02-18 Thread Candy Lowe
Hi Keith, no. I do not have a subscription to the New York Times. I am able to play the game every day. You can either create an account, or you can just play every day without signing in.When you sign in, that means you are able to switch from devices. In other words, suppose, sometimes you play on your iPad, and then sometimes you play on your phone, you will always have your scores. If you don’t care about that, you don’t have to sign in  Sent from my iPhone 13 pro On Feb 18, 2023, at 5:00 PM, Keith Kramlinger wrote:

letters are filled in. If I touch one (not double-tap but just touch), the
letters I enter go into that clue. If I double-tap anywhere, a screen
displaying the grid opens, and if I touch a square, I’m told which square it is
and whether it’s blank or what letter it contains. Doing a scrub gesture
returns me to the list of Across clues. So far, so good.

However, I can’t find a way to hear the Down clues with the same information.
If I touch an Across clue and flick down, there’s a Reverse Direction option,
but whether I simply touch that option or double-tap it, the clues don’t switch
to the Down clues. The clue at the bottom of the screen, which is the one being
edited does change to a Down clue, but it doesn’t tell you how many letters are
in the word or whether anything is filled in. If I choose the option to bring
up the list of clues, the clues do say if a letter is filled in, but not how
many letters total there are or where the filled-in letter is. So it seems to
be maddeningly close to accessible, but not quite. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Anna

I found it in the US App Store. One thing to note is the Crosswords app has a

Hi, all.

I'm using an iPhone 12 Pro and iOS 16.2.

I'm looking for a GPS app that gives good descriptions of intersections,
including distance to the intersection. Today I tried Lazarillo, and
while it's reasonably accurate, it will announce an approaching
intersection at least 150 feet away from the actual crossing. It also
doesn't indicate what type of intersection I'm approaching.

I'm exploring a new neighborhood without much traffic or pedestrians, so
this information would be good to have. Is there a GPS that will do
this that works well with VO?

TIA,

Lisa

A few times now, when I’ve gone into the Messages app to text someone, I will
sometimes get the notification that the person has a new or updated name or

No need for 1, 2, 3, depending on when you start counting and how quickly or
not you count that may actually be long enough for Siri to think you aren't

Hello,

I have an IPhone 8 & am current on IOS. Ever since updating IOS, I frequently
get an odd response when I ask Ciri to call someone in my contacts list. I
will say call person X & she will say what do you want to know about person X.
This may happen several times before I give up & open the contact to tap on the
phone # to call them. Even funnier, I have a sister-in-law named Mickie who is
on my VIP contact list & is my ICE contact. Today when I asked Ciri to call
her I got a web site telling me who Mickey Mouse was. This happened a couple
of times. I obviously have tried speaking very clearly to no avail. It is not
the end of the world to have to open the contacts to make a call but I’d rather
have the convenience of just saying call person. Is anyone else having this
problem?

Thanks,

RE: Ciri Responding Oddly When Asked to Call Someone

2023-02-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is a very simple solution: after you press the side button and hear the
tone wait about 1 second before yous peak.
Here is what is happening: let's assume you have somebody called John Green in
your contacts and you ask Siri "Call John Green".
So you push the button and you say "Call John Green" except you speak too
quickly and all Siri hears is "John Green" so Siri asks "What do you want to
know about John Green".
There are other examples where I sometimes do the same and by what Siri says it
is very clear that she didn't hear the first part of the request.

Sherry,
I am also having this problem. I wondered why it was happening, I’m not sure
when it started for me, but now if I ask siri to call person X most of the time
she says what do you want to know about person X? So annoying!

Subject: Ciri Responding Oddly When Asked to Call Someone

Is anyone else having this
problem?

Thanks,
Sherry Wells

Yes, the keyboard is really oddly spaced. Too bad they didn’t use the one they
use for Wordle. So whoever said the app was accessible, please tell us how you
do it.

Cheers,

Hello Ann,

If you have access to a braille display, it helps a lot. The display won’t show
you the words immediately as it normally would, but if you set the alert
messages to a long time, such as 3 seconds, whatever VoiceOver says, including
the words and clues, appears on the braille display for that amount of time. I
find this super helpful when playing 7 Little Words.

Best,
Anna

Re: Accessible crossword puzzle apps

2023-02-18 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi everyone,

I tried to play the mini crossword in the New York Time Crosswords app, but I
couldn’t quite make it work. When it opens, the Across clues are listed in a
very accessible way, saying how many letters the word has and whether any
letters are filled in.

Thanks,
Anna

2023-02-18 Thread Richard Turner
If Siri is not calling someone when you say call Bob, it is because it did not hear the word call. So, either you are not giving Siri time, or maybe you are not saying the word call loud enough, or something. But, if I envoke Siri and just say someone's name, it asks what do you want to know but if I say call bob, it calls Bob. 100% of the time. Richard, USA.“What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end of little consequence. Hello,

I have an IPhone 8 & am current on IOS.  Ever since updating IOS, I frequently get an odd response when I ask Ciri to call someone in my contacts list.  I will say call person X & she will say what do you want to know
about person X.  This may happen several times before I give up & open the contact to tap on the phone # to call them.  Even funnier, I have a sister-in-law named Mickie who is on my VIP contact list & is my ICE contact.  Today when I asked Ciri to call her
I got a web site telling me who Mickey Mouse was.  This happened a couple of times.  I obviously have tried speaking very clearly to no avail.  It is not the end of the world to have to open the contacts to make a call but I’d rather have the convenience of
just saying call person.  Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks,

RE: Anyone know of an accessible scrabble dictionary?

2023-02-18 Thread Debby
Hi Amy,

My friends and I use an app called "Word Checker." It is very accessible. Also,
some time ago there was an update, and it made the app harder to use. I wrote
to the developer, and it got fixed. I was impressed.

Take care and have fun!

she says what do you want to know about person X? So annoying!

Subject: Ciri Responding Oddly When Asked to Call Someone

Is anyone else having this
problem?

Thanks,
Sherry Wells

I tried a facetime audio call and while on speaker, the call was just
fine on my 13 pro max.
