Hi Margaret,

If you've just updated to iOS17... restarting the phone helped both my

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hi Margaret,

I seem to recall folks posting after the release of iOS 17 that the double
tap time-out setting was changed to lower the speed needed to execute a
double tap. The effect of this would require you to double tap faster in
order for it to register.

Go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, and double tap time-out witch will
be near the bottom of the screen. Mine was currently set to .25 seconds and
I executed the increment button to make it .3 seconds which I like better
since I don't have to double tap quite as fast. Play around with that
setting to see if it helps you.

Good luck.

Hi, Alan:

Thank you. I got Hey Siri back. I could swear that the 3 choices
weren't there when I looked earlier and I was looking for more than 1
item and I was double tapping on Hey Siri. The double tapping problem
is still here and it might have been the problem earlier. It took about

phone 2 years ago yesterday and, as far as I know, I'm double tapping
the same as I always have and the phone has just gone nuts.

It’s also possible that since they got rid of the hay in hey Siri, if your
friend has that enabled, Siri could be listening and hear anything and quit,
because it thinks you’re doing something. Try disabling hands-free Siri and
just use the side button and see if that helps. I never have used hey Siri

Pretty pointless.
I find nothing in Siri settings to disable this.
Though, he might try turning on showing a transcript of what Siri says, then
maybe VO can read the whole response, but that is a poor work around at best
even if it works.

I am trying to help a friend with a problem that has popped up since iOS 17.1.
He uses Siri to get his sports scores. He says that, as she is reading back the
information, any little noise will stop her from reading. It is like Siri has
an open mic all the time. This behavior just started recently.

2023-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
The only thing I would add is to be clear that the gesture for the app
switcher, home, notification center, and Control center are continuous sliding
of the finger, not really a swipe.

So you drag your finger up from the bottom or down from the top in a smooth
motion.

Once you get VoiceOver on and are ready to use it, it may help to turn on VO
help with a 4 finger double tap to practice those gestures.

Firstly conggrats on that new toy! To turn VoiceOver on/off, it's
triple-clicking the side button, found on the right side, at the same level
where the Power button is on your iPhone 8. I've never felt a phone without a
Home button, but they say the Side button is larger than the Power button we've
used tin.

The gestures for Home, Notifications, etc., are easy to learn: they involve
swiping from the bottom up, until you hear a click; the very first first click
you hear is when yrfinger is rositioned ready to start flicking up, thus the
2nd click is for the Home screen, and the 3rd one is for the App Switcher.

gestures the other way around: starting fthe top (sort of where you talk on the
phone), the very first click is your initial position, from which if you swipe
downto the 2nd click you're at the Notification (or is it Control Center
because I don'th my iPad with me), bei way 2 clicks is either the Control
Center Center, and the 3rd click downwards is the Notification Center.

I never thought I'd say this, but I wish iMhones hadaway (lthe iPads), to
perform these gestures so as not not to wear out the Home buttons! Thanks to
myexperiences with my 9th Generation iPad which still have the Home button, but
too the ability to qgform the gestures, I'm ready to take the plunge for my
successor iPhone to; one without the Home button. Good luck with your new
iPhone!

RE: Siri and iOS 17 problem

Siri will respond wither way - Hay Siri or Siri.

I had that Apple Pay thing, just ended up calling Apple Accessibillity and got
them to help me get it in just to get the thing off my back, which I do not

Good Afternoon:

I updated to IOS 17.1 on my SE 2 the other day and am trying to work my way
through the changes from 16.x to 17.1 to solve problems I'm having with the
update. I had Hey Siri on and wanted it and not Siri, but am having a problem
with Alan's instructions. What do I do after "Listen for and select Hey Siri
instead of Siri?" There's no Siri by itself. Right now, when I do not press
the hone button, and invoke Siri by voice, Siri responds with Hey Siri as well
as Siri. I think it may have something to do with the new follow-up feature I
think I heard about.

The phone wants me to finish setting up Apple Pay, which I don't want.
I may have an expired credit card that deleting it and putting in the new info
might make the phone happy, but I'm having a problem with double tapping since
the update and I was hoping to solve the double tapping thing first. Do I have
to solve these before I can fix Hey Siri vs. Siri?

Many thanks,

Margaret

Re: Siri and iOS 17 problem

2023-11-23 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Margaret,

Go to Settings, Siri & Search, Listen for “Hey Siri”. The setting choices here
are 1. “Siri” or “Hey Siri” or 2. “Hey Siri” or 3. Off

I have mine set to option 2, Hey Siri. When I posted the earlier instructions
you are referencing, I believe I was still running iOS 16.X so I expect I made
a pig's breakfast of them.

I'm not sure if you will be successful changing any of your settings if you are
having difficulty with the tapping gesture. You can certainly try changing the
hey Siri setting to see if you can get what you want.

Good luck and happy Thanksgiving.

I find nothing in Siri settings to disable this.
Though, he might try turning on showing a transcript of what Siri says,
then maybe VO can read the whole response, but that is a poor work around

I am wondering if there are any others using S ChatGPT 3.5. I am having some

2023-11-23 Thread VIPhone
Hello All,

Even though some here in the group live in places where thanksgiving is not

It’s also possible that since they got rid of the hay in hey Siri, if your
friend has that enabled, Siri could be listening and hear anything and quit,
because it thinks you’re doing something. Try disabling hands-free Siri and
just use the side button and see if that helps. I never have used hey Siri
except on my HomePod. I have no problem pressing the side button.

Pretty pointless.
I find nothing in Siri settings to disable this.
Though, he might try turning on showing a transcript of what Siri says, then
maybe VO can read the whole response, but that is a poor work around at best
even if it works.

Subject: Siri and iOS 17 problem

I am trying to help a friend with a problem that has popped up since iOS 17.1.
He uses Siri to get his sports scores. He says that, as she is reading back the
information, any little noise will stop her from reading. It is like Siri has
an open mic all the time. This behavior just started recently. He thought that
an update fixed it, and it worked well for about a day, but then went back to
this problematic behavior. Any insights on how to solve this problem would be
much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Kelly, you can operate the fryer using voice commands with Alexa. I believe
it’s compatible with Google assistant as well but not totally sure about that.

Well, they do not recommend more than one layer as the air has to be able to
circulate around the food.
When they are talking chicken wings, I suspect they mean the kind you would get
at a bar, which only has the meaty portion and not the little flat wing section.
And since I don't do chicken wings, I don't really know about their sizes.
But, yes, the large basket is geared probably for larger items, including their
cake pan, bread pan, pizza pan ... we can do enough sweet potato fries or pot
stickers for two in ours which I think may be a little smaller than yours.

I'd appreciate it if you could get the size of the basket at some point. NO

Hi Kelly,  The App is only necessary for Wi-Fi  setup. After that, if you have either an Alexa device, Google device, or the Alexa app, you can do everything by voice commands. I'm totally blind, and use a previous model with our Sonos speakers or Echo device. My wife set it up, but she also mostly uses voice commands. If it gets off line, which ours did after a power outage, she had to help get it reconnected, but I did the final step through the app. We should be getting the two burner one tomorrow which has a slightly bigger basket than our current one, plus not having to flip food.Richard, USA“Grandma always told us, “Be careful when you pray for patience.
