I'm on iOS 15 and I can confirm that this works. Sounds like it was probably 
caused by Bookshare upgrading its website.

For those running iOS 16, at this point, one person has reported that it
fixed his issues with an MP3 file as well as the download buttons on
Bookshare.

The Voice Dream staff has said it should fix that issue for everyone.  There
was a change in the URL due to the Bookshare web site changes.  At least,
that is what I understood from a message on the Voice-Dream list.
