Re: getting iPhone unlocked?
Locked devices is something wich should be forbiden in my opinion. because often when you buy this, you sign a contract for 12/24 munth. so isen't it enough to do that? you are not able to escape from them anyway. Kliph skrev den 15-04-21 15:34: I used a company called cellunlock.net http://cellunlock.net They charged me 100 bucks to unlock my 6Plus. But a friend of mine unlocked his 5s, and it only cost him 40 bucks. Was done with in 2 business days. Pretty easy to do too. YOu just put in the carriers simm card you want to use, and plug it in to iTunes, and it is unlocked. This is after you receive the email that it has been successfully unlocked. iPhones are unlocked remotely, so you don’t have to worry about putting in a unlock code. In case you are not familiar with the expression, it is Latin and translated means “Let the buyer beware”. It is now up to you and try to get the phone unlocked, worst case scenario will be that you have a phone locked to a carrier which is of no use to you. If the phone is a CDMA phone it can be even worse, here is a quote from an article I found when I did a Google search for “What to know when buying a used iPhone” regarding iPhones which have been report lost or stolen: If you’re on a CDMA network like Verizon or Spring make sure the iPhone you’re buying doesn’t have a bad Electronic Serial Number (ESN). ESN’s go bad when a device is reported lost or stolen, and a carrier won’t activate devices with bad ESN’s on their network. I read a news article on CBC recently about this, basically carriers have some sort of blacklist and the numbers of stolen or phones which have been reported lost are put on this list and if you end up buying one (maybe from the thief) then you can’t activate this phone at all and apparently carriers at least here in Canada do share this information. Anyhow, I hope things work out for you, but if this was officially an off-contract phone the seller should have unlocked it before selling it and you as a buyer should not have bought it unless you were planning to always use it with the same carrier. There are, by the way, a lot of good articles when you google “What to know when buying a used iPhone”. Apple even gives people a way to check what is called the activation lock. Here is a good article which explains this: http://www.techrepublic.com/article/before-buying-a-used-iphone-or-ipad-check-activation-lock Regards, Sieghard *From:*viphone@googlegroups.com mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com]*On Behalf Of*goshawk on horseback *Sent:*Monday, April 20, 2015 11:50 PM *To:*viphone@googlegroups.com mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com *Subject:*Re: getting iPhone unlocked? a bit late for that, as he has already sent it off. so what now?
