RE: To All V iPhone and V iPhone 2, The Next Generation Group Members, from Moderator Mark

2022-02-22 Thread don.moore48 via VIPhone
For whatever reason, on this email address most VIPhone messages go into spam.
It was why I joined the new list with a different email address. Maybe I'll
joined there and clear this one out. Maybe that'll help fix some of the
problem.

Subject: To All V iPhone and V iPhone 2, The Next Generation Group Members,
from Moderator Mark

Hello Everyone,

Well, for whatever reason, Google, in its infinite wisdom has seen fit to
restore our original group forum back to it servers.

Neither Cara or I know why this was done so unceremoniously.

It's really quite interesting, the original groups settings are back in my
dashboard and all systems appear to be a go.

Perhaps Google bands certain groups for a period of 30-days; who knows.

What I can tell you is that Google did not, in anyway, communicate its
decisions with us.

So, please be patient as, for now, both lists will remain active until we are
certain that the original V iPhone list is stable.

If you are being overwhelmed with list traffic, then for the next week or so, I
suggest that you make the new list your primary forum, until further notice.

If the old list remains stable for the next week, then Cara and I may, may
(mind you) elect to disable the new group.

The truth is, we just don't know at this time.

For now, Cara and I will be certain to post to both groups so that everyone is
kept in the proverbial loop.

Your understanding is truly appreciated.

Moderator Mark

The other thing I'd do is make sure the volume is up. Sometimes it drops
unexpectedly, and you don't hear anything. Frustrating when you find one or
the other issues has been the problem all along.

Have you done a reboot?

I think the SE 2020 works like the newer phones where you press and release the
volume up, then press and release the volume down then hold in the side button
about 8 or 10 seconds and release and wait for it to come back on.

The first two steps need to be done quickly, don’t hold in the volume buttons
just press and release, then hold the side switch …

I forgot to put my phone on charge last night. Consequently, battery ran down.
Since recharging, I discovered that I can not give voice commands to open my
aps. When flicking around the screen, voice over does not speak. Yet, when I
hold the home button and say “voiceover on”, I get message saying voice over is
on. When trying to unlock phone, have to enter pass code, as it is no longer
responding to my fingerprint.

Called apple accessability for help. Did screen share. While on phone, my
phone behaved like I would expect it to. By that, I mean that I could flick to
all my aps and hear everything as expected. Hung up from phone call and
discovered that my phone went back to doing what it was doing prior to calling
apple accessability. Called apple accessability tweo more times. I was
talking to rep and when they went to check my account, they never came back.
This was 7-8 minutes in to the call. I truly have never seen my phone behave
like this. Please help. Thanks.

Loreal, I am surprised by your statement regarding processors on Android
phones. They may sound faster on paper, but year after year Apple's processors
typically beat the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in all the benchmark tests I
ever heard about. The tight control and integration Apple has over it's
hardware and software, i.e. the iOS platform, allows them to optimize things in
a way Samsung, Google and others can't do.
I believe the latest Snapdragon chip is the 888+ and the Geekbench multi-core
score for the Snapdragon is 3,686 and the single core score is 1,138. The Apple
A15 Bionic has a multi-core score of 4,818 and a single core score of 1,734.
You see from the information below that Qualcomm uses a faster clock speed on
their Snapdragon 888+ yet Apple outperforms them in both single score and
multi-score tests by a pretty good margin.

Here is some information from a comparison I read:
When it comes to built process, the A15 bionic chip and Snapdragon 888+
chipsets are built on the 5 nanometer process, however, the A15 is more
improved because of the latest N5P process used by TSMC. And the effect is the
power efficiency and faster performance.
Both chipsets are using the latest Qualcomm’s X60 5G modem with 7.5 Gbps top
download speed and 3 Gbps upload speed.
Apple made a huge claim at its launch event that the new 6-core CPU in the A15
chip is about 50% faster than the competition. That is not entirely true.
Although the A15 bionic is faster but not upto 50% that Apple claims.
While Apple maintained the hexa-core 2+4 CPU architecture, Qualcomm Snapdragon
888+ adopted the octa-core 1+3+4 CPU setup. Qualcomm upgraded the Snapdragon
888+ primary CPU core from 2.84 GHz to 2.995 GHz.
And when it comes to GPU, Apple also made bold claims that the A15 processor
has a 30% faster graphics processing unit (GPU) than the competition
(Snapdragon,
MediaTek, Tensor and Exynos). While in reality, the Adreno 660 GPU by Qualcomm
Snapdragon 888+ can perform every task that the latest Apple 5-core GPU
does.

Agreed. Frankly I prefer the dictation on Apple versus that on android. I went
with android for quite a while because of the fact that the processor speeds
of the devices I was using were at that point faster than iPhone. Plus of
course battery longevity is a major thing for me as well. I am a very heavy
phone user, and presently while I can get my android battery to last me almost
the whole day with moderate use and about half the day with extremely heavy
use, I'm wondering how
the battery on the newer iphones is.
Thank you for your thoughts!

Hi folks

Whent that friend pushes his side button he hears a high and low sound and
something went wrong try again later.

He has done all things you maybe want to propose, putting off and on his
iphone doing a hard reset but nothing helps.

There is no overall problem with siri because his wife sitting next to him
has no problem with her iphone 11 he also has an iphone 11 pro.

RE: purchasing iPhone 13

2021-08-27 Thread don.moore48 via VIPhone
I just found it was easier with the home button. I had an 11, but eventually
went to the 2020 because it was just easier to do what needed to be done.

I don’t know why people are so scared to get an iPhone without a home button.
With an iPhone with a home button you swipe up from the bottom to bring up the
control panel so that is all you do on an iPhone without a button is to just
swipe up about an inch or so and it is like pressing the home button. What’s so
hard about doing that.

Why or why not?

What I've done is, if you can figure out what app is playing the music, go into

forget to do it. Hell getting old.

RE: iPhone/Hearing Aid questions

2021-08-10 Thread don.moore48 via VIPhone
Wow! Where to start? I am totally disalusioned by the blue tooth connection
between the hearing aids and the phone. Under some limited circumstances it's
a good thing regardless. for most times though I wind up having my hearing
aids disconnected from the phone and use my earpods with the hearing aids.
People hear me better and the phone acts less querky.

As long as your earphones play nicely with your hearing aids, and that you
don't lose something in the process, whatever's comfortable. I bought the
airpods, but stopped using them because I'd manage to get one or another of
them to drop out of my ear, and, if I was lucky enough, to get a sightie to
help me find the missing one. It just wasn't worth the effort!

Hello Listers,

Yesterday, I took delivery of a new hearing aid by Starkey that connects
directly to my iPhone. The audiologist had me download an App called Thrive,
which I'd like to set up to suit my own needs. I’d like, for example, to be
able to know how much battery life is left 9 ! device before charging. Does
anyone else use this APP, or a similar one, and, is it really all that helpful
or necessa=y. Thanks for any help or advice. I love the new hearing aid, and
phone calls are clearer.

While I’m asking hearing questions, is it more preferable when I want to use an
over-the-ear headset like a Bose to remove the hearing aid, or, does it really
matter?

RE: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-07-31 Thread don.moore48 via VIPhone
What happens sometimes is that tracking is on for many applications on the
phone, and it can be a battery drone. Going into settings and accessing the
settings for all your apps, turn off tracking for any of them where you don't
really need tracking, and it'll go a long way. Also reducing the screen
brightness can help, although if you use the phone for stuff like boarding
passes you need it a little brighter than you otherwise wood. Maybe someone
else can come other thoughts also.

Hello Listers,

First, thanks for the input about bluetooth speakers. I just might invest in a
Sonos Roam in order to have the capability of tone adjustment when a movie or
TV show has too much bass for my liking, or for my hearing ability.

Now, one more question. Sometimes, when I pick up my phone, music is playing,
and I don't know how long it might have been playing in my pocket or on a
table. Is there a way to prevent this random playing of music from my iTunes
library until I want it? Thanks for any input on this.

Issue with do not disturb:

2021-07-06 Thread don.moore48 via VIPhone
A friend uses the 'do not disturb' setting overnight. This morning, it was
turned off but the block on accessing apps did not go away. Any suggestions
as to how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.
