I had been using Copilot free version on my iPhone for a few months when I
bought the subscription, and never got charged. In fact, I’m not sure if you
can actually subscribe directly in the app. So far I haven’t seen that option
yet. When I finally subscribed for Copilot pro, I got all my other versions
(web, iPhone app) automatically switching to Copilot Pro. I believe that you
can also use Copilot in the iPhone without logging in.

Leo, are you sure about the free part of that? I have Microsoft 365 and would
be concerned that if I try to use copilot on my phone, since I'm logged into my
m365 account, I'll get charged the crazy $20 per month.

I'm quite fine with Perplexity for the few things I use it for.

Amen Corner is one of the most famous stretches of holes at Augusta National
Golf Club, specifically holes 11, 12, and 13. This iconic trio of holes begins
with the par-4 11th, named "White Dogwood," which features a narrow tee shot
and an approach to a green guarded by a pond on the left. Then comes the
legendary par-3 12th, known as "Golden Bell," where players must navigate a tee

Amen Corner gained its name from Herbert Warren Wind, a golf writer, who coined

I only used it out of curiosity a few times for writing and I found the exact

Write me a 500 word essay about the Brother Grimm

And Below is what I got and it's in my opinion perfectly written and what is
more, it's all perfectly correct since I grew up in a town in Germany where the
Brothers Grimm lived for 7 years as children and in which area many of the
fairytales are taking place and I know that the facts mentioned are true:

The Brothers Grimm were two German brothers who collected and published
folklore in the 19th century. They are widely regarded as the

founders of the modern study of folklore and the creators of some of the most
popular fairy tales in the world. Here is a brief essay about their life and
work.

The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, were born in 1785 and 1786,
respectively, in Hanau, Germany. They came from a large and poor family, and
their father died when they were young. They both studied law at the University
of Marburg, where they developed an interest in German literature and history.
They were influenced by the Romantic movement, which valued the folk traditions
and culture of the common people. They also befriended other scholars and
writers, such as Clemens Brentano and Ludwig Achim von Arnim, who shared their
passion for collecting folktales.

The Brothers Grimm began their project of collecting and publishing folktales
in 1806, when they met a peasant woman who told them several stories. They soon
realized that these stories were part of a rich and diverse oral tradition that
was in danger of being lost. They decided to preserve these stories for
posterity and to demonstrate the beauty and wisdom of the German folk spirit.
They traveled around the country, interviewing storytellers, mostly women and
children, and recording their tales. They also consulted books, manuscripts,
and other sources of folk literature. They applied a rigorous methodology to
their work, comparing different versions of the same tale, analyzing the motifs
and themes, and tracing the origins and influences of the stories.

The first volume of their collection, titled Children's and Household Tales
(Kinder- und Hausmärchen), was published in 1812. It contained 86 stories, such
as "The Frog King", "Hansel and Gretel", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Rapunzel",
and "Snow White". The collection was well received by the public and the
critics, who praised the simplicity, originality, and charm of the tales. The
Brothers Grimm continued to revise and expand their collection, adding more
stories, annotations, and illustrations. By the seventh and final edition,
published in 1857, the collection had grown to 211 stories, including
"Cinderella", "The Sleeping Beauty", "Rumpelstiltskin", and "The Golden Goose".

The Brothers Grimm also worked on other scholarly and literary projects, such
as the German Legends (Deutsche Sagen), a collection of historical and mythical
tales; the German Mythology (Deutsche Mythologie), a comprehensive study of the
Germanic and Scandinavian myths and beliefs; and the German Dictionary
(Deutsches Wörterbuch), a monumental work of lexicography that aimed to
document the history and usage of the German language. The Brothers Grimm also
held various academic and political positions, and were involved in the
movements for German nationalism and unification. They died in 1863 and 1859,
respectively,

leaving behind a legacy of immense cultural and scientific significance.

The Brothers Grimm are widely recognized as the pioneers of the modern
discipline of folklore, as they established the methods and principles for
collecting, editing, and analyzing folktales. They also influenced many other
folklorists, such as Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen, and Joseph
Jacobs, who followed their example and contributed to the global treasury of
folk literature. The Brothers Grimm also enriched the world of literature and
art, as their fairy tales inspired countless adaptations, retellings, and
interpretations by various authors, artists, and filmmakers. Their fairy tales
have become part of the universal imagination and have shaped the values and
dreams of generations of children and adults. The Brothers Grimm are truly the
masters of the magic of storytelling.

Hello. I've been using AI to jog my mind, my memory, brush up my knowledge, and
enhance my cognitive processes since day 1 in at the end of 2022. I'm also
paying a subscription for Copilot pro to use this AI through multiple AI
interfaces, including Microsoft 365 desktop apps. However, you can start by
using a free account on any AI you want although I would suggest Copilot,
ChatGPT, or Gemini. AI is exactly like a screen reader, you don't know what you
can do with it until you use it to do what you intended to do in the first
place. You're the person behind the wheels. I'm also in college, and currently
writing my thesis, and These AI's can help you to boost your writing skills. As
for stylistic issues, you should find your own distinctive voice, and one of
these AI's can help you to clarify any doubt you have with regard to
organization, structure, word choice, terminology, etc. For instance, if you
want to learn how to write an academic paper, one of my first questions would
be, "As for academic papers, are there different types or just one type?" Then
ask how it is structure, what do every single part of the structure is made
for, how to write an effective topic sentence, and so on and so forth. It can
give you even examples of notorious academic papers that have been written
using a particular type, e.g., argumentative.
For the iPhone, Copilot is the best option because you can use even GPT 4 turbo
for free and the voice response is real good.

Hello everyone,

First of all, please know that I am not trying to start anything, with
the questions that I am about to ask. I honestly want to understand how
these things can be of help to me. But, not do all of the work for me.

I am curious, does anyone here use Chat GPT? Or, Microsoft Co-Pilot?

Not sure I spelled that last one correctly.

If anyone here does use these Apps, or any others I might not be aware
of, how accessible are they?

Also, what might you use them for?

I am currently attending a local community college. My goal is to
hopefully get my Masters degree. I am a long way off from this though,
and life could go in a totally different direction. I am also an older
student. I don't even know if I will ever have a career.

Anyway, one thing I would like to use Chat GPT for, is to get help with
my writing. I never really learned how to write papers in high school. I
feel so behind in this area. I am told all the time that I need to kind
of learn to BS my way through stuff.

However, I am not at all good with that sort of thing.

Please understand, I do not want to cheat! Or, plagiarize anything. I
really just want to use AI to help me with this huge struggle. I want
help with structure, and all that. But, I want to make the paper my own.
And, make changes where necessary.

However, I also want to make use of these Apps, in other ways as well,
if this can be beneficial for me. I just don't know enough, to know what
I might be missing out on. I know we do have to be careful, when using
any sort of AI. And, we need to be smart about what we do. I just think
though that all of this stuff can really benefit us in a lot of ways.

Thank you to anyone who has read this. Any thoughts, or advice will be
very much appreciated.

Terri

And I will continue to support them. I think it is absolutely ridiculous. How

Hi Arnold,

None of these would happen. Nothing that dramatic would occur. What Apple could
do is simply reject their update and tell them to fix the app so functionality
isn't taken away from previous customers. The Apple review team rejects many
new apps and app updates on a regular basis and it's not a big deal. Devs just
implement the required changes and then they're good to go. Alternatively, if
the code is already live with the update released last week, Apple could pull
the app from the store until they fix it, especially since the change was
undocumented until you installed the update.

However it's also possible that this will fly under Apple's radar or that
they'll choose to not act. Even though this clearly doesn't jive with my
reading of the guidelines, subscription models are all over the place and I
think a lot of this type of behaviour flies under the radar. The review team
doesn't catch everything.

Of course it's also possible I'm simply reading the guidelines incorrectly.

Apple could issue some update to the IOS which would prevent VoiceDream from

to heck with it, we will simply stop supporting the thing and go out of
business because it isn't worth going to court over. If any of these solutions
are acurate, we all would end up worse off than if Apple just let it go.

I took Dennis’s advice and made a donation to listen to Jonathan interviewing
Kishin Manglani from the Applause Group.

It is very much worth listening to. It is fairly long, but it is very clear
that they care very much about their customers and are doing their best to
provide a quality product and adding new features.

The one thing I noticed if you go into the Voice Dream Reader app and double
tap on settings, then on subscription, it brings up the post titled Pricing
Changes for One-Time Purchasers.

As you read through that, when you get to the line that says, try the 14 day
trial or something like that, it doesn’t say it is a link or button, but if you
double tap on that, it takes you to the app store where you can choose to
subscribe and get 2 weeks free if you were a one-time purchaser. I don’t know
what you get if you are a new subscriber.

But signing up this way keeps it fairly simple and familiar since it is within
the app store.

The difference from subscribing through the link through a service that seems
to be called Stripe or something; whatever Jonathan said, the Applause Group
gets a higher cut of the payment than if you go through the app store.

I don’t know if people realize, that whatever price you pay for an app through
the app store, Apple gets a pretty big cut. I think 20 or 30 percent and the
developer gets the rest.

IN any case, I’ve signed up through the app store.

They will be offering a monthly option in the not too distant future.

Hello everybody I believe that we just have to except what do people with voice
dream reader want to do. That developers are totally free to increase prices or
make free apps, paid apps or whatever they feel they want to do need to do or
have to do to make money. Just remember that Free doesn’t make any money for
anybody and, he doesn’t buy anyone’s lunch. I think we’d all be better served
if we could look for something that does the same things as voice dream reader
and it’s either Free or at least at low cost. It just sounds like the people
that work with voice dream reader are going to do whatever they’re going to do
and they’re not willing to, or able to change their minds. Just trying to find
an alternative would be a lot more productive for everybody than just talking
about not being able to use voice dream reader. I’m just saying all this
whatever it’s worth. For all I know it may not be worth anything not even a
plug penny or a plug nickel.

Hello folks. I know that we have been talking a lot about VDR these days, but I
consider healthy discussions the best way to socialize our likes and dislikes.
Yesterday I sent a message to VDR support asking for any viability to add a
monthly subscription, and they told me that in all likelihood, a monthly
subscription deal will be added very soon.

At this point all I have to say is that no monthly subscription was my only one
and single pet peeve! I know that probably there are other users like me out
there hoping for a similar deal. Personally, a monthly subscription gives me
the possibility to balance my monthly expenses. Also, a monthly subscription
gives the user the opportunity to see VDR performance and how much one needs
the app, in a nutshell, you’re having an active subscription while you’re
mulling things over! Go VDR! Thousands of readings waiting for me 

Cheers,

If I recall well, sometimes he pops in, isn't it? Maybe someone caught his

What I think is that originally the new owners thought that they would have
enough new subscribers to keep it going, and that is why they originally stated
that current owners did not have to subscribe. But now that a year has past,
they did not get as many new subscribers as they planned, so in order to keep
it going, they are having to make everybody subscribe, even those owners that
existed when they bought the company.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Mac version has always been a
subscription, and that price is $60 a year. If I remember correctly, Winston
set that price when it was released. All the owners are now doing is including
the iOS app within that subscription. So now for $60, you get both the iOS and
Mac versions.

I do think Voice Dream is worth the subscription, especially if you are someone
that uses it all the time. I will say that there has been a lot of updates
over the last year. So the new owners are not just letting it sit and stay as
it was when they got it. The only thing is, I do wish they would give you an
option to pay by the month.

Not sure if I’ll sign onto the $60, but honestly, I more than got my money’s
worth and then some for this app if this is the case.

I believe BookPlayer also has an in-app payment option for cloud storage and
syncing.

For some folks, the 60 bucks for VDR might even be worth it as you can use just
one app for both eBooks and audiobooks. Everyone knows their own budget though.

Oh boy, as for the Microsoft voices , read the VDR FAQ. To my understanding,
they won’t implemented any of the cloud-based voices, but let’s say they do,
well all they could really do is to offer the possibility to introduce your own
API key, but you have to purchase this from Microsoft just as it is done in
Speech Central, and guess what? Price is even higher than a VDR subscription.

I’d expect this subscription could pay for things like new audio formats like
ogg could be played. Also maybe newer voices like those from Microsofft. Take a
chance and see what happens. I wish people weren’t so picky. I will support
voice dream reader and I really hope others will do so as well. I am looking
forward to the future of the app if people will stop whineing and pay for the
app. It really does a lot of great stuff. If you want something that works

2024-03-25 Thread leobado1982
Well, if you want to throw some light on this, ask someone for assistance when
you launch VDR, so that you can turn off voice over. Apparently, double tap on
the learn more link makes the banner go away, so we’re deep in the woods here.

I have not updated today.

But, if anyone wants to go back and look at what Winston Chen had said when he
sold Voice Dream LLC., he made it clear that he would have had to begin
charging a subscription to be able to maintain development and he had already
started the Mac version as a subscription.

$59 a year seems perfectly reasonable to me if you want the app to continue.

You can always dump it for DAISY Easy Reader or Speech Central and deal with
much harder interfaces and keep it free…

I don’t know if it’s been stated, but for those who received that message, were
you one time purchasers or already on the subscription based model? I got the
VDR update too, but no such banner or at least not yet. I bought the app way
back in 2011 or 2012 and have certainly gotten my money’s worth.

There’s an alternative app called Bookplayer
  which is very
accessible.

You can always use Apple’s native book app for eBooks and Kindle even supports
ePub files now.

I updated and when the notice came up in the app I clicked on the learn more
thing at the bottom of the screen and the announcement went away and it did not
take me anywhere I could learn more, it just wen back to the list of books I
have.

Not impressed.

Just received a message voice dream is going to cost 59 dollars a year now. A
pet peeve of mine is everything requires a subscription. I see nothing in there
reasons for this that affects me. So, nice I had it for so long. It was a
wonderful app, but I am done with it. As with MBraille I was one of the first
to buy it for I think 5 dollars. Makes me want to cry to lose it, but much more
important places to put my money. On Social Security with a guide dog and so
guess it goes away. Still want to cry after all the books from Bookshare it has

Voice Dream Reader and change in the price?

Hi everyone. I updated VDR few minutes ago, and when I launched the app, a
banner or something of that kind came up saying something about price change
plus learn more, so I tried to tap into learn more but the banner gone away.
Does anyone know better?

2023-11-27 Thread leobado1982
Hi, it is essential for me as well, and I haven't had any issues in this
version, which was released 5 days ago by the way. However, I won't say that
this should be every single user experience. I had issues weeks ago that
apparently most users were not having, reinstalling the app fixed it.

Somebody recently posted to say that the latest version of VoiceDream,

safe or not to update now?

Voice Dream Reader on a different platform

2023-11-10 Thread leobado1982
Hello. I got a question. Is VDR available for Windows PC's? I know for sure
it is available for MAC, but I'm surprised that someone on a different list
sent a link where VDR it's been purportedly offered for Windows. I'm
posting here the link, but it is a domain in Spain by which you will find
the language to be Spanish. Is this real or a scam? Does anybody know the
e-mail address of the company that now owns VDR? I know the support e-mail
address, but I don't think that the developer behind the IOS version knows
better than anyone else.

I heard back from the developer at Applause Group concerning Voice Dream Reader.

There will be, two updates today.
One: Which I just found in the app store is, 4.23.2 was to fix some slowness
for users with lots of files.

Just released to Apple is another, 4.23.3 that fixes the issue with iCloud. I
don't see that one yet in the app store, but I suspect it will be there later
today or in a day or two. I don't know how long it takes Apple to pass updates
on to the app store.

Hi, I also had my library set not to sync using iCloud, running the last
version of IOS, and never experienced a similar problem as I said in a
different thread. Additionally, other users reporting this annoying issue were
using different iPhones.. By the way, nobody is saying that VDR isn't great. If
you didn't experience this, good for you. As I said, I deleted and reinstalled
the app, and it got fixed, but firstly I tried updating VDr to the version that
was released today with no luck. As far as I'm concerned, it is not a
device-specific problem, it is not the IOS version, and in my case, I can
flatly sate that it isn't a matter of corrupted data because I set up my iPhone
as New in late September, and performed a clean installation of VDR. Besides,
I'm a heavy user, meaning that on Thursday night the app was running perfectly
fine, and the problem started just after yesterday's update and remained even
after today's release.

RE: Voice Dream Reader refusing to open after today's update.

2023-11-04 Thread leobado1982
Well, in my case nothing worked except for deleting and reinstalling. I even
found a new update this morning, but it didn’t make a difference after
launching it. This is the very first time I got such an issue with VDR, I even
set up my iPhone as a new device when IOS 17 was released, so it is not like
data was corrupted.

Yes, I had the same problem with Voice Dream reader today. The only way I was
able to get it to respond was to upload all my books to the cloud, which I had
stopped doing for a while that corrected the problem. Maybe turn off and on any
downloads that you have given to the cloud and see if that helps. so I was not
backing Voice Dream reader books to my phone and when I turned it on and back
them up, it responded as it used to.

Take care.

Any thoughts or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

RE: How to send a photo from iPhone to computer?

2023-10-14 Thread leobado1982
Hi. Either to e-mail yourself the photo or to save it in one of your cloud
services, put the voice over focus on the image, now use the one-finger swipe
down gesture as many times as you need until you hear “forward,” and double tap
with one finger on that option. The photo will be selected to be forwarded, now
go to the lower right corner of the screen, and if you did the previous step
right, instead of the voice message, you will find the “share button.” Tap
into it, and on the next screen you will see all the options where you can
share the photo, including your clouds and even your e-mail.

To save the photo in your gallery, in other words, your iPhone, double tap
with one finger on the photo, now swipe right several times until you reach the
share button, tap into it, swipe right again as many times as you need, and you
will find the save option.

If you had WhatsApp on your computer it would be far easier, basically just
placing the focus or your screen reader on the image, then bringing up the
context menu, after which you just had to hit enter on “save as.” This taking
into account that you use a Windows computer.

"per voice settings" in IOS 17 and Voice Dream Reader

2023-09-21 Thread leobado1982
Hi, I sent the following message to VDR support suppp...@voicedream.com
in case anyone feels like making the same
request.

Hello. IOS 17 introduced "pur voice settings" for most built-in synthesizer.
This settings allow for configurable parameters such as timbre and sentence
pause, in the case of some voices, an Headsize, roughness, breathiness,
etc., in the case of the well-known Eloquence synth. Moreover, these
parameters can be adjusted either in voice over (the screen reader))) or in
spoken content, which is a more general option for accessibility. However,
making changes in either "per voice settings" option is not having an
impact in the way these voices read the text in Voice Dream Reader. The
capability to use the built-in voices with the modification of such
parameters would be a great deal for VDR users who also use voice over
because all too often we like to find the proper tune for our auditory
perception.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Best,

Leo Bado

Subject: RE: Very impressed with Eloquence on my iPhone.

Hi, I assume you want to modify the Jaws Eloquence.

You may want to carry out all the process by using a vocalizer voice instead of
Eloquence.

First of all, copy and paste the file that contains the values in a safe
location, so that you can use it as a backup in any given scenario. Go to the
following path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Freedom Scientific\Shared\Eloquence\6.1

Now copy the file “ECI.INI” and put it in a safe location. Notice that in this
folder there are two files with the same name, so make sure you’re saving the
right file .ini.

Now, to modify the values contained in ECI.INI you have to launch notepad as an
administrator, press control plus O to open a file in Notepad, and locate
ECI.INI in the explorer. After pushing control plus O though, make sure to
change to “all files” the type of file extensions that you can open with
Notepad, otherwise you won’t be able to locate ECI.INI.

Once Notepad opened ECI.INI, push control plus F, and type “enu.syn” without
any quotes, and hit enter. Now push escape to close the dialogue. The focus
of the cursor should have landed on the language-specific parameters for
Eloquence, which in this case is English United States. For English UK, you
should locate the following string:

“eng.syn”

Now hit the home key to get you to the beginning of the line, and start
arrowing down until you find a similar line to this one:

Voice1=0 50 65 30 0 0 50 92

These are actually the values you should modify to change the voice. Notice
that after the = sign there are 8 values separated by a blank space. Those
values correspond respectively to:

Gender

HeadSize

PitchBaseLine

Pitch Fluctuation

Roughness

Breathiness

Speed

Volume

All of them scale from 0 to 100 except for gender. In this case you use 0 for
male and 1 for female.

Now, for some reason changes has never a real effect on speed and volume, so I
believe that Jaws is simply overwriting those parameters no matter what you do,
but for what it’s worth, modifying the other parameters do have a real effect.

After performing any change, don’t forget to save the document.

You will also notice that there are 8 voices under each language specific
setting, (e.g., voice2, voice3, etc.(. Those alias correspond respectively to
Reed, Shelly, Bobby, Rocko, Glen, Sandy, Grandma and Grandpa. So, when you
modify voice1, you’re really modifying Reed and so on and so forth. Since I
always want to have Reed using the default values, but I also wanted to
introduce modifications to use a customized voice to read, I modified Voice4,
namely Rocko, an saved the changes. Then, I created a new voice profile based
on Eloquence, and chose Rocko to be used in all contexts, PC, Jaws cursor,
keyboard, etc. In this way I can have these other profiles and always come
back to Eloquence using the Reed voice by default.

RE: Very impressed with Eloquence on my iPhone.

2023-09-20 Thread leobado1982

Voice1=0 50 65 30 0 0 50 92

Since I

on Eloquence, and chose Rocko to be used in all contexts, PC, Jaws cursor,
keyboard, etc. In this way I can have these other profiles and always come
back to Eloquence using the Reed voice by default.

Version 4.20.3, 1d ago, We updated the voice management screen in Voice Dream
Reader. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

What they did was to now include all the voices. So, they are all included now
so you do not have to buy any voices. So, if you wanted to try some out that
you dicd not want to pay for, they are now free!

I do want to give a slight warning though in regards to asking for information.
The AI can “hallucinate” and give dead wrong information, but do so very
confidently. It doesn’t tend to say “I don’t know” but will just make stuff up,
so verify everything.

RE: for accessible telegram app.

2023-06-25 Thread leobado1982
No fix for Telegram. For years, IOS users have repeatedly submitted feedback
upon accessibility, without any real impact on the usability of the app. Come
to your own conclusions, but to me, this is simply beyond any technological
matter.

I personally use MP3 audiobook player pro, it not only allows for wi-fi

Hi Leo,

What apps allow for wi-fi transfer?

I have WaltrPro which allows this. I don't recommend WaltrPro because the
price is unreasonable now and they have never done a thing about accessibility.
I figured out how to use WaltrPro but it is tedious at best.

I know someone who transfers files to VDR through iTunes, but that is even more
tedious in my opinion.

I'd be curious about other apps that allow for wi-fi transfer.

Thanks,

I've let the owners know that.

I personally feel that $59.99 per year would be reasonable.

I have used the app since at least version 2 and have been a beta tester for
Winston Chen for at least 10 years and even though I purchased the app at the

different. It probably means that they have finally settled to that 80$ price
point (it could be that they are still experimenting with non-US markets or
that those markets will take more time to update the listings due to lower
sales volume). You can read in the reviews that there are people in the US that
were asked to pay 99$/year, so certainly that price was there very recently.

Anyway I did say that their most common price point was 80$ or 90$ (I wasn't
sure which one as that was from my mind), so what you said isn't diametrically
opposed to what I said.

You have information on pricing in the App Store. Currently they are
experimenting with something like 5 price points. In general in such cases
developers randomly assign those to users to see what price points brings the
most money to them. As the App Store arranges those by the one that is
currently most frequently used, I think that their most likely price is
currently 80 or 90$/year. There is one higher price point than that and several
lower

So at the moment the app doesn’t have a uniform price. But it seems that you
are much more likely to be charged close to 100$/year than 50$/year, which is
the overall range that they use.

Voice Dream is now a free app, so from the aspect of Apple that acquired

actually costs around 100$/year to be used, just it is free to download. If you
already own the license in general you don’t need to pay the new price, but the
system isn’t bulletproof as Apple doesn’t support such a transition and it it
technically possible that some users might need to pay, though that should be a

Other that that when it was a paid app Family Sharing was meant only for
