RE: Accessing Bookshare on my iphone

2014-05-12 Thread denise colley
Thank you all for your assistance. I have it all installed, but I have a
couple more questions.

I have several books in My reading lists and My favorites on the computer that
I have not downloaded. Is there a way to move those over to Voice Dream? If
not, where do I go to type in a title or author? I’ve tried typing the
information in the search field but always get no results.

Is there anywhere to get good instructions on navigating through a book? If I
have the navigation unit on chapter or page, how do I type in the corresponding
number. When I’ve tried to use the search button it doesn’t seem to do anything.

In the audio settings section what are the increment and decrement buttons?
How do they work?

One of the voices I purchased was Jennifer. I’ve speeded her up, but I still
get these pauses after a sentence or two. Is that just how she reads or is
there something else I should be doing?

Sorry for so many questions.

Denise

Denise, open Voice Dream Reader and double tap on Settings. Then, flick with
one finger until you hear bookshare, Not Enabled. Double tap this, and you'll
see a switch button that you need to double-tap in order to turn on. After
that, just enter your Bookshare email address and password, and press the Okay
button, and you'll be good to go.

To add books from BookShare to Voice Dream Reader, double tap the add button in
VDR's main screen, and an alert will pop up with a bunch of services from which
to choose. Choose BookShare, and another screen will come up.

If you'd like to read something from the Internet using VDR, you're going to
need to copy the address from Safari or whatever web browser you're using on
your iPhone. To do this using Safari, double-tap the Share button, and then
double-tap Copy. choose the Add button from VDR's main screen, and then choose
Web Browser. Double tap on the address field, and paste in the address you
copied from Safari. Then, when the page loads, you can press the Save button,
and then choose whether to save the whole thing, or let VDR try and strip all
the junk out of a page so that you just get the important stuff. In my
experience, VDR is pretty good at this. If you're like me, and just hit the
done button, to go back to your library and read the article right away, you'll
have to clear the address field next time you want to read an article using the
above method.

Thanks,

Ari

2014-05-12 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
I wonder if you are not using the Bookshare search but the search to find a
book on your device in Voice Dream.
To find a book on Bookshare and down load it to your device:

Double tap the add button in the lower left.
Double tap Bookshare from the list of sources.
At the top of the screen you will find a search field, double tap that and you
will be able to search for the title or author, etc.
Flick right after you get the results to find the matches and then either
double tap on the down load button, or double tap on the title/author to read
the synopsis if there is one.

If you don't get any results, then check your spelling if you are sure that is
a book on Bookshare.

HTH,
Richard

2014-05-12 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I can answer two of your questions. Unfortunately, there is no way to move
titles from your wish list on bookshare to voice dream so they can be
downloaded. You will have to type their titles into the search box in voice
dream to download them. Or, if you know how to transfer via iTunes, you can
download them to your computer and transfer them. It is more complicated than
usual to transfer to voice dream via iTunes, some might say it is more trouble
than it is worth, especially being that the daisy text files are so small that
they don't take long to download to your phone directly. I did finally figure
out how to do it.

The increment button moves the speed up by a smaller percentage that swiping up
on the voice settings button, the decrement button moves it down.

2014-05-10 Thread 'David Goldfield' via VIPhone

Hi, Denise.
I am new to this app as well but have successfully used it with my
Bookshare account. From the main screen of the app there is an add button.

Double-tap on this button.
You will then be in a list of options for sources from which you can add
material.

Keep swiping to the right and you will encounter a Bookshare button.
Double-tap.
Since this is the first time you're accessing Bookshare through the app,
there will be text edidt fields for you to enter the email address and
password you use for Bookshare.
enter those and there should be a done or ok button, which you
double-tap.

that should work but if not just let us know ...

In the settings of the app you will find a place to enter your email address
and password for bookshare to activate bookshare.
From then on, you will be able to double tap on the add button in the lower
right and then double tap on bookshare which is the last add source before the
cancel button.
I hope that made a little sense.
