that the 32 should be fine for us. Besides, the 32 gig is a little
cheaper. Both of us have iPhones that we store our own apps on and
which she plays games on. So the 32 gig TV should work fine for us.

Yes, 32 GB is fine. I have the 64 GB, just because I like having the most
storage capacity available if I can afford. But as far as Apple TV Absco, 32
should be fine. Each app can only be 200 MB in size, with additional assets
being downloaded from the cloud as needed.

RE: apple tv questions

2016-02-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
How exactly do you set up a second Apple ID? I tried to go to the accounts
option in Settings, but I don't see an option to Add or Sign In, just see my
own Apple Id. Of course I could sign out and back in with a different Id, but
that would sort of defeat the purpose of easy switching. It would be nice if it
were as in Netflix where you just select Who is Watching.

Also, when it comes to streaming from other iOS devices it doesn't matter what
Apple Id is in use on the Apple TV, You just use Airplay and as long as you are
connected to the same WiFi that is no problem.

Sieghard

RE: Apple TV Questions

2015-11-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don’t think you have to do this since there is also an “Accounts” option in
Settings and I believe you can add another Apple Id there. I haven’t tried it
yet and I’m not sure if you somehow have to switch to them, but I assume that
maybe once you put in those credentials you just go back to accounts and select
which one you want to use.

Hi John,

Actually, my Apple TV arrived today after all and it just seems that my Parcel
app was very slow at updating the UPS delivery status although I have a feeling
it might be the fault of UPS because even when I went to their website it seems
like some updates were missing.

Anyhow, my wife and I set it up tonight and I downloaded YouTube and Netflix
right away and then a few other apps. I very much like it and don't find the
typing much more of a pain as when the letters were arranged in several rows.
Of course I also hope that Bluetooth keyboard support comes back.

Setup went well, it recognized my iPhone and automatically connected to my WiFi
using credentials from my iPhone and all I had to do is enter my Apple Id
password and of course my Netflix sign-in info and that for YouTube. YouTube
required me to go to YouTube.com/activate on my computer, I had to sign in with
my gmail account and then enter a code which was displayed on the Apple TV in
order to allow the YouTube app on the Apple TV.

I found an app for CBC News (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and it is quite
nice and gives me access to some of the CBC programs, I also found a few apps
which allow you to watch old classic movies which are now in the public domain
and also one app from the Canadian National Film Board.

Anyhow, I love how fast and responsive it is, t's awesome that SIRI is
available, I can turn on Voiceover by telling SIRI to do so and moving apps
works great.

The volume rocker also controls my Sonos Playbar volume without me having to do
anything: "It just worked" and it's nice to see that this still does apply at
least to some Apple products.

I think in time when developer come up with more and more cool apps and maybe
once Apple has deals with major content providers for movies and TV shows, this
will be a real fantastic device.

Oh, I also went to "Computers" after I opened iTunes on my laptop, I was asked
if I want to turn on home sharing with my Apple Id and after I said Yes and
entered my Apple Id password one more time the content of my iTunes library was
fully accessible.

Sieghard

There is a place, now that I look at it further, where you can add another
Apple ID.

On the 4th generation? Yes, you can go to settings, then go to iTunes and App
Store and simply sign out and then sign back in with another Apple ID and
password.

Hi All. I'm wondering if it is possible to rename the 4th generation Apple TV
as I can't seem to find it in the settings.

I went in under about and it says Apple TV but I don't see where you can rename
it. I have put the second Gen up in our living roman changed it's name to that.
The new one is located in the family room in our basement.
What am I missing here?
Thanks.

Anyhow, I love how fast and responsive it is, t's awesome that SIRI is

The volume rocker also controls my Sonos Playbar volume without me having to do
anything: "It just worked" and it's nice to see that this still does apply at
least to some Apple products.

I think in time when developer come up with more and more cool apps and maybe
once Apple has deals with major content providers for movies and TV shows, this

I wish that their wasn't such a barrier from country to country in
terms of what can be downloaded. I would love to get my hands on the
CBC app for example. The U.S. media acts like Canada doesn't exist and
I'd like to be able to keep up better since I grew up there.

RE: Apple TV Questions

2015-11-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Anyhow, I love how fast and responsive it is, t's awesome that SIRI is
available, I can turn on Voiceover by telling SIRI to do so and moving apps

The volume rocker also controls my Sonos Playbar volume without me having to do
anything: "It just worked" and it's nice to see that this still does apply at
least to some Apple products.

I found the CBC news app but not the CBC tv app. There is a difference. On CBC
TV, you can get shows like dock zone, rick Merser report etc but the news only
has news.
Your real life is what goes on inside you, not the circumstances that go on
around you.

2015-11-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi John,

As for the sharing, it is usually working fine on my second gen Apple TV. As
long as iTunes is open on my laptop, I can go to Computers and I then see
"Sieghard's Library". If I select this I then see the different libraries in
iTunes, i.e. Music, Movies, TV Showsetc.
I was supposed to get my new Apple TV today, but it appears UPS let it sit in
Edmonton for 2 days so I probably won't get it until Monday now which is too
bad, I usually work 6 days a week and only take Sundays off and it would have
been a good time to sit down and play around with it.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hey Ryan,

Was just checking out Air Video, curious how that app is any different than
playing from your computer an iTunes library. Is this app more for if you do
not keep movies in your iTunes library as I have been ripping all my DVDs
through Mac DVD Ripper Pro and creating an iTunes version which then works
great getting on to your AppleTV. Thanks,

Re: Apple TV Questions

2015-11-05 Thread Ryan Mann
Hello. I have a couple app suggestions. For news, you might want to check out
Newsy. If you want to have media such as music or movies in a folder on your
computer, check out Air Video.

Apple TV Questions

2015-11-05 Thread John Diakogeorgiou
Hi:
I have a couple of questions.
First during the Key note in September, they said the IPhone can be
used as a game controller for the Apple TV. Does anyone know how to
set this up?
Second, I turned on the sharing feature on the Apple TV. I have also
turned this feature on in ITunes. However, the Apple TV doesn't see
the pictures on my IPhone or the music on the computer. Has anyone
successfully done this?
Finally, any suggestions for apps?

couple apple TV questions?

2012-12-16 Thread Kliphton A M
Okay, loving my appleTV once I got it setup. My only regret is the same regret
I had when I got my iPhone and iMac. That it took me so long to get them. Now
on to my questions.
1. Is there a quick way to turn voice over off and on with the remote?
2. If I create folders in the home movies folder where my appleTV gets the
movies from, will it keep the movies there, and will the appleTV still be able
to find and play them?
3. Lastly, does anyone have a list of the radio stations that stream NFL games
from the radio part of iTunes? That way I can find any teams broadcast that I
want.
Thanks.

Re: couple apple TV questions?

2012-12-16 Thread Rick Alfaro

Cliff,

I can only be of help with your first question.

If you have the latest firmware installed, you can turn VO on and off
from a popup menu you get by pressing and holding the menu button on the
apple remote. One of the choices will be VoiceOver. The position of
the VO choice will be the first when in the main menu as I recall and
the second when anywhere else like in Netflix for example. In that case
the first choice becomes back to main menu and the second choice is VO.
Very easy to use even if you have VO turned off. Note that you have
to enable this menu under general/accessibility. The option is called
Accessibility Menu. HTH

Best,

Rick alfaro
