Re: Apple Watch and wireless connectivity question.
The Apple Watch is not a standalone device--not even the Series 3. The Series 3 cellular model requires you to own an iPhone 6 or newer. All other models require an iPhone 5S or newer. This is according to the following Apple support document: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204505 Even though you can use some features of the Apple Watch without your phone nearby, you need an iPhone to sync contacts, apps, mail and other content to your device and even to sign into your Apple ID and get past the setup process. Hello Ian, Yes, I wrote a book on the Apple Watch for National Braille Press. I would imagine you can order one from the Apple website or Apple store app, or buy it from an Apple store. some U.S. stores like Best Buy also have them, so there may be U.k. electronics stores that have them as well. Hello Anna, Thanks for your reply. To clarify my message somewhat. Let’s suppose I was lucky enough to have received my Apple Watch for Christmas. I have set it up with my iPhone7. If I visit a friend’s house and had connected to their wireless network prior to receiving my watch, would my Apple Watch connect to that network without my iPhone or does it only inherit network credentials of networks joined after it has been pared with another Apple device. When my iPhone is unavailable, my Apple Watch will connect via Wi-Fi. How many networks will an Apple Watch store?
