Bottom left is a globe icon which is a search. Bottom right afaik is settings and it says so, Favourites is around there too, though seems not to appear all the time. A comment: the global button allows you to look at anywhere. So if you know where you are, you can go there and enter it, and you will get all the blurb without use of GPS; this I think is where it would be good enough on the iTouch, or the other devices without the GPS chip. I've looked around Australian and US cities as well as the more local UK ones; and it keeps a history of your efforts so you can go back to them. Hello: I have the app Around me on my Ipod Touch, but it doesn't seem to work. When I open it I get a message that location service must be activated in the Iphone settings. It works fine on the Touch if you let it use your location and you have a wi-fi connection. I have use both Around Me and Where To on the touch without any problems. There is an app called Restaurant that lists all of the major restaurant chains and their menus. I actually believe it's called restaurant and nutrition. This is accessible and I love it! HTH. Around Me
Evening list members, just discovered a very interesting little app called around me. This app is great for simply exploring your surroundings, it seems to be very accessible with voice over. thus, far I would probably give it a 4.5 out of 5 in the accessibility score. I do not know if this works outside the United states and Canada, but my first guess is that it probably will work in Europe. It will be the first selection when doing a search in the app store. Where To and Around Me was Re: Around Me
Yes, Around Me works in New Zealand and Australia as well. Another similar app to consider is Where To. Where To accesses bus stop locations in cities that support it, such as Wellington, NZ. Also, Where To has a nifty feature that gives the direction and distance to the POI you selected. This information is updated as one travels toward the PI. I use both apps. Hi Eric The feature in ariadne isn't for getting points of interest near your place. You can't get those with it at all. When you put an adress in there the map will open with that point in the middle.
