Hey Eric, I'm having exactly the same issue with my 4S, ever sense IOS7. HTH, Scott Duck From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Cristóbal Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2014 11:08 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Free New Batteries for Some iPhone5 Units No home button issue. Like I said, it was the power button that was also giving me trouble. This problem was apparently acknowledged by Apple and a repair program had been available since May of this year for it. From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of SSEric Sent: Sunday, August 24, 2014 9:02 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Free New Batteries for Some iPhone5 Units May I ask what your home button issue is? Since the last update, I have noticed on both my iPhone 5 and Touch (last generation with a camera) the home button seems to stick. It will not do anything. This primarily occurs after I access Siri. I cannot get back to the home screen or bring up the apps. I can turn VoiceOver on and off. It seems that touching the power button to go into standby and coming back is the only fix. I have not paid attention if others are having similar issues with the home button. I have not yet checked if my 5 is part of the battery recall group, but I have always struggled to keep decent battery life, so perhaps. Thanks! RE: Free New Batteries for Some iPhone5 Units
Yes, this is Apple service at its best. I bent my 5S a couple of months ago because I fell on my behind when a few rocks slid out from under my feet while I was taking my dog for a walk along the river and it so happened that I had stuck my 5S into the backpocket of my shorts. So I basically sat on it and while I was amazed it hadn't broken, I bent the entire fram and there was a gap between the steel frame and the touch screen along the top of the phone big enough to stick a dime into. The phone was still working perfectly and I used it like that for about 3 weeks, but I assumed it would just be a matter of time before dirt or moisture would get in. Since I had to go to Vancouver I made an appointment at one of the Apple Stores there, I brought along my laptop and did an encrypted backup and got a new phone for $79. I hooked it up to my laptop right there at the store, restored my backup and about 45 minutes later walked out with a new phone which was completely set up the same, all my music, ringtones, email accounts, text messages and so on were as before. Most of these 45 minutes were spent waiting for my 25 Gb of music to be synced back to my phone, the actual restore and re-download of my apps probably only took 15 or 20 minutes. I wonder if somebody who buys a Samsung Galaxy S4 on eBay would get such service or if Samsung would replace a top of the line Galaxy S5 which the user broke by their own fault for $80. I have an unlocked 5S 64 Gb and here in Canada that is over $1,000 by the time the taxes are done so I thought paying $80 to get a new one was a pretty good deal. I am also going to claim these $80 from my homeowners insurance since I have a separate policy with a 0 deductable in place specifically for my iPhone. It costs me $30 a year extra and would fully cover the phone if it was stolen or if I broke it when it was outside the 2-year Apple Care period. Not sure if they'll pay it, but I think they would since I could have also gone through them to claim a replacement so this is a good deal for them as well. It seems that touching the power button to go into standby and coming back is the only fix. I have not paid attention if others are having similar issues with the home button. I have not yet checked if my 5 is part of the battery recall group, but I have always struggled to keep decent battery life, so perhaps. Thanks! I bought this iPhone via eBay and little did I know, it was still covered under Apple Care till next month. The Apple Care was not listed in the eBay listing. Since my phone had both problems and the warranty was still good, The Apple guy just swapped out my old phone for a brand new one. Not a reconditioned phone, but all together new. RE: Free New Batteries for Some iPhone5 Units
No home button issue. Like I said, it was the power button that was also giving me trouble. This problem was apparently acknowledged by Apple and a repair program had been available since May of this year for it.
