Annie,

If your iPhone 5 qualifies, i.e. if the serial number is part of those that are

send it in. I would do that anyways since I would not want to send in my phone

I have an IPhone 5 with a beta of IOS 8, and I am not sure how to do about that.

giving me trouble. This problem was apparently acknowledged by Apple and a
repair program had been available since May of this year for it.

May I ask what your home button issue is?

Since the last update, I have noticed on both my iPhone 5 and Touch (last
generation with a camera) the home button seems to stick. It will not do
anything. This primarily occurs after I access Siri. I cannot get back to
the home screen or bring up the apps. I can turn VoiceOver on and off. It
seems that touching the power button to go into standby and coming back is
the only fix.

I have not paid attention if others are having similar issues with the home
button. I have not yet checked if my 5 is part of the battery recall group,
but I have always struggled to keep decent battery life, so perhaps.

Thanks!

They ask you to do a full backup, disable Find My iPhone, then wipe your

March 31, 2015, so you have some time.

iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program

iphone5.png

[Please select a Country \/]Apple has determined that a very small
percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life
or need to be charged more frequently. The affected iPhone 5 devices were
sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited
serial number range.

If your iPhone 5 is experiencing these symptoms and meets the eligibility
requirements noted below, Apple will replace your iPhone 5 battery, free of

RE: Free New Batteries for Some iPhone5 Units

2014-08-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, this is Apple service at its best. I bent my 5S a couple of months ago
because I fell on my behind when a few rocks slid out from under my feet
while I was taking my dog for a walk along the river and it so happened that
I had stuck my 5S into the backpocket of my shorts. So I basically sat on it
and while I was amazed it hadn't broken, I bent the entire fram and there
was a gap between the steel frame and the touch screen along the top of the
phone big enough to stick a dime into. The phone was still working perfectly
and I used it like that for about 3 weeks, but I assumed it would just be a
matter of time before dirt or moisture would get in. Since I had to go to
Vancouver I made an appointment at one of the Apple Stores there, I brought
along my laptop and did an encrypted backup and got a new phone for $79. I
hooked it up to my laptop right there at the store, restored my backup and
about 45 minutes later walked out with a new phone which was completely set
up the same, all my music, ringtones, email accounts, text messages and so
on were as before. Most of these 45 minutes were spent waiting for my 25 Gb
of music to be synced back to my phone, the actual restore and re-download
of my apps probably only took 15 or 20 minutes.

I wonder if somebody who buys a Samsung Galaxy S4 on eBay would get such
service or if Samsung would replace a top of the line Galaxy S5 which the
user broke by their own fault for $80. I have an unlocked 5S 64 Gb and here
in Canada that is over $1,000 by the time the taxes are done so I thought
paying $80 to get a new one was a pretty good deal. I am also going to claim
these $80 from my homeowners insurance since I have a separate policy with a
0 deductable in place specifically for my iPhone. It costs me $30 a year
extra and would fully cover the phone if it was stolen or if I broke it when
it was outside the 2-year Apple Care period. Not sure if they'll pay it, but
I think they would since I could have also gone through them to claim a
replacement so this is a good deal for them as well.

Sieghard

Thanks!

No home button issue. Like I said, it was the power button that was also
giving me trouble. This problem was apparently acknowledged by Apple and a
repair program had been available since May of this year for it.
