RE: Freedom pop cell service
I tested out the wifi hotspot about a year ago. I was only using an iPod Touch, so I didn't pay any attention to the data/cell minutes. It worked OK in a large city, but not outside the city, of course, that could just be the limit of the Sprint towers around here. The device itself is not very blind friendly, but it is manageable. Lights indicate whether it is on and how much charge it has. It can take a minute or two when you turn it on before you connect after the initial pairing. But, since you have a trial period, and they do refund your money if you send it back with all the packing and no damage, of course, you may want to just try it for yourself and see how it works for you. At this point, I don't even know whether this thing is running stock Android or whether it can be upgraded to 4.4. But I do enjoy playing. I sure would like to hear from persons who have actually used the Freedom Pop service or who are personally acquainted with someone who has used the service. This thing runs on the Sprint network and supposedly allows one either to purchase a device or bring your own phone. They give you 200 cell minutes and 500 megs of data for free per month. Additional minutes and data can be purchased for extremely attractive prices. One of the devices they sell for $66 is a wireless hot spot. Their web site is http://www.freedompop.com . No, I am not talking about Obama phones. Don Roberts -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Freedom pop cell service
I ended up getting the free Overdrive hotspot they offered. It took a long time to get it, but what I found out is that the free offer after the trial is only for 4G, not the 3G the device also provides. I think the only 4G they use is Clear's Wimax, which I heard rumors of being shutdown and replaced with LTE eventually. - Original Message - From: Richard Turner richard.turne...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 8:19 AM Subject: RE: Freedom pop cell service I tested out the wifi hotspot about a year ago.
