Gmail all mail folder - Was Re: Email question

2013-11-21 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, with gmail, the All Mail folder is where the real messages are
actually kept. So, other things like inbox, important, or other
so-called folders you create are actually labels which most other email
programs see as folders. So, bottom line, if you delete things from All
Mail, you are deleting the real McCoy.

Re: Gmail all mail folder - Was Re: Email question

2013-11-21 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm not aware of a setting. This is just the default behavior, and I'm
not sure you can change it. There are ways to force the deletion of
messages from the Gmail server, but I've never used them before. I'd
suggest going to Google to search. There's a lot of information out
there on how Gmail works, and the Gmail help pages are pretty good,
although a bit terse at times.
