When I had my iPod Touch I simply turned everything except mail and notes on
both devices. Everything came across on both devices no problem.

Subject: Help! iCloud is making a mess of my iPhone!

Hi all,
Please help!
I have just synced my iPhone and my iPad with iCloud, in preparation for
putting mountain lion on my Mac and using iCloud on that too.
However, I now have two calendar events for future events, but
interestingly, not the past ones. I also have got back many contacts which I
deleted in June when I got my iPhone for S. Not sure how this has happened.
But it means I need to go through and delete and edit all my contacts again!
How can I avoid this happening? Do I just set iCloud to back up my phone and
my iPad? And not check any of the other boxes in the iCloud settings, I. E.
contacts, calendar, notes, ETC?
I have things on my iPad which I want to go onto my iPhone too, and vice
versa, isn't iCloud supposed to insure this happens? It isn't. I am so
confused! I'm scared I'm about to lose everything if I do something wrong!
If I uncheck those boxes, will I lose everything?

Because iTunes is being a pain, and I used to backup with that, which is no
longer working for some reason, hence my use of iCloud now, I don't think I
will have anything to backup from… Help!

Thank you! Any advice much appreciated!
Kirsten

Hi,

It shouldn't matter which device you delete from. All your deletions should
appear on all devices right away.

Best,
Anna

Re: Help! iCloud is making a mess of my iPhone!

2012-07-29 Thread Kirsten Edmondson
Hi, thanks for this continued advice! …
I've got the iPhone right now… And although my contacts are fine on both
devices now, (iPhone and iPad), my iPad calendar is still a mess. Although I
deleted all the extra entries from my iPhone calendar, they don't seem to have
deleted from my iPad calendar even though it's been 24 hours. Although ones
I've added have worked. I have backed up too, to see if that has made a
difference, but it has not. Contrary to what we thought, do I need to go onto
the iPad and delete all the duplicates?
Thanks

My guess is that when you deleted your contacts, you didn't delete them from
both the iphone and iPad. If you delete them again, they should be deleted from
both. If you sync both with iCloud, you'll end up with the same contacts and
calendar events on both devices.
