Re: I can read my Ketonix with the iPhone

2017-03-08 Thread Richard Turner

Good point Anne.
It had not dawned on me to turn off the flash when checking LED lights.
Duh!
I will try some other apps and see if turning off flash works.
You just saved me $.99, thanks, grin.

Hello Richard,

Yes, I get that warning. I just used that app because it didn’t use the flash.
I’m sure almost any colour app will work as long as flash is off since the
Ketonix is lit from inside.

Cheers,

Anne

Ann,
Do you get any warnings about that app slowing down your phone?
I found it in the app store, it is $.99, but it has not been updated since
2012, requires iOS 4, and if you try to follow the link to the developer web
page, you get a message that you don't have permission to access that server.
But, if it works on the color of LED lights, it may be worth it.
I had not heard of iColorNamer4.

2017-03-08 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Sandy,

The light detector app is just called Light Detector. I’ve had it for years and
it gives the percentage of light which is handy for knowing when to put the
lights on. I put the iPhone camera against the appropriate section of the
Ketonix and the pulsing of the LED was very clear.
The colour detector I used is called iColorNamer4. I have no idea when I got
that one as I have a tendency to collect colour identifiers and object
identifiers. Once again, I held the camera against the appropriate section of
the Ketonix which starts out blue, then as you blow into it, it changes to
green, then yellow, then red if you’re in deep ketosis. The iColorNamer4
identified red as brown, but that was good enough for my purpose.
There’s a newer version of the Ketonix that puts data onto a computer, but
which computers it works with, I don’t know. In any case, the devices are
available from:
www.ketonix.com

Cheers,

Anne

I can read my Ketonix with the iPhone

2017-03-07 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello everyone,

On a whim, I decided to see if I could use our Ketonix breath ketone metre
without sighted help. It’s the basic model without the computer interface.
While charging, it flashes, and the Light Detector app detects the pulses.
I had to use a colour identifier without using the flash to read the coloured
section, but it worked very well.
So, if anyone else is on a ketogenic diet and would like to check on their
ketones, even the basic model of the Ketonix is accessible.
A ketogenic diet is helpful for anyone with insulin resistance, epilepsy, many
inflammatory conditions, or undergoing treatment for most cancers. We bought
the Ketonix when my husband was being treated for oesophageal cancer from which
he recovered completely.
Cheers,

Anne
