RE: Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X
Hi Maria, Mary and craig, Craig is correct, the iPhone X has optical zoom for both back camera lenses. However, both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have optical image stabilization for the zoom lens, this is a difference to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and earlier where only the Plus models had optical image stabilization. The below is taken directly from the full phone specification page of the Apple website, it is after the section which lists differences and talks about specifications present in the 8 and 8 Plus which is what is meant by "both phones": Both models: Optical image stabilization Six‑element lens Quad-LED True Tone flash with Slow Sync Panorama (up to 63MP) Sapphire crystal lens cover Backside illumination sensor Hybrid IR filter Autofocus with Focus Pixels Tap to focus with Focus Pixels Live Photos with stabilization Wide colour capture for photos and Live Photos Improved local tone mapping Body and face detection Exposure control Noise reduction Auto HDR for photos Auto image stabilization Burst mode Timer mode Photo geotagging Image formats captured: HEIF and JPEG Video Recording 4K video recording at 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps or 60 fps 720p HD video recording at 30 fps Optical image stabilization for video Optical zoom; 6x digital zoom (iPhone 8 Plus only) Quad-LED True Tone flash Slo‑mo video support for 1080p at 120 fps or 240 fps Time‑lapse video with stabilization Cinematic video stabilization (1080p and 720p) Continuous autofocus video Body and face detection Noise reduction Take 8MP still photos while recording 4K video Playback zoom Video geotagging Video formats recorded: HEVC and H.264 FaceTime HD Camera 7MP camera 1080p HD video recording Retina Flash ƒ/2.2 aperture Wide colour capture for photos and Live Photos Auto HDR Backside illumination sensor Body and face detection Auto image stabilization Burst mode Exposure control Timer mode -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Greg Wocher Sent: Saturday, October 7, 2017 12:55 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X Hello, In the iPhone X both lenses of the dual camera setup have image stabilization. I am 99.9% sure that this is incorrect. There is something else that's available only on the X, but it's not that. Optical image stabilization is even on the 7+. Could it be maybe only for the back camera? There's more to this than just saying it's not available. RE: Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X
Hi Sieghard, Thanks for the excellent advise, I was also considering that option, as my carrier have various options for call time and Data at much cheaper rates than with the device, as I agree with you, the 6S is still pretty fast, battery is OK, and OCR won’t improve much on the newer phones, and video / camera quality is fine for what I use it for, it will most likely be better to wait for Iphone 8S/9/11 next year which should have all the X features standardized. Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X
Hi all, I'm due for an upgrade soonand I've used my 6S 64 GB space gray for the past two years. I'm firstly considering the Iphone 8 vs the 8+, of which the better reported battery life and larger screen work area (I also type a lot onscreen), are cons for the +, but smaller pocket size and cheaper price are cons for the 8. I think the cameras are the same between the two so for youtube video making and OCR work they should be identical, but I have the following questions: Do both 8 and 8+ have optical image stabilization? Do both 8 and 8+ have stereo speakers, and do you think they would sound exactly the same (listening to audio books and youtube very important for better sound on phone speakers)? And are there any other worth while mentioning differences between the two? And lastly, I think the X would be everyone's dream phone, but I already hear production is low and they may not ship enough units by 5 Nov to U.S., thus to South Africa will probably take another million years, plus cost, at $1000 starting, by the time South Africa gets it it will cost excessively more than the 8 and 8+. Wondering if worth waiting vs the price. Do any of you have your 8 or 8+ yet, and what are your thoughts on the phone speed, feel, speakers, battery, etc. Thanks / Regards Carl de Campos SQL DBA Business Connection Cell: 0614184262 E-mail: carljdecam...@gmail.com "Check out my Youtube channel where I review Some Assistive Tech, interview other blind achievers, trains, out-door and more to follow"" https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo6pgDobJut1AxNypVAOcqg -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
