Yes there is a lot more shows and movies that have the Audio Description track to them, but it is still a small percentage of the shows. Until we have better laws to enforce this, it will be a long time before we see a bigger percentage of Audio for shows in general. Dave On 11/5/2023 9:28 PM, Cristóbal Muñoz wrote: Figurative term... Until the bill is passed and the president signs it to make our laws up to date that won't happen. As it looks like it may not pass the senate for another year. The FCC has gone as far as they can and the bill is setting there to be passed, which is number s2494, but as close as we are to the end of the year for bills to be passed I have my doubts. Then the information and bill will have to be put back on the table for the Senate to pass and be signed by our president. RE: One Question to Paramount Plus Subscribers
Hello All, Okay, as it turns out, only the first episode of Star Trek, Picard, has all of the audio, when AD is enabled, incorrectly shunted to the left speaker. Subsequent episodes and other AD enabled content plays all of the audio, including the AD track, in stereo., as expected. For those who may be interested, I have the Paramount Plus iPAD / iOS and Apple TV app working perfectly. I created my account, via Safari web browser and selected the annual subscription which includes Paramount Plus essentials and ShowTime without ads for $119. I do have the 7-day trial period so, I can cancel at anytime during the next 7 days but will not do so as there is a lot of content that I look forward to enjoying during the next 12 months. RE: One Question to Paramount Plus Subscribers
I guess what I meant, was if there are accessibility issues with the app, couldn’t you just access the same content via the TV app bypassing the provider's own app? I purchased the first episode of Star Trek, Picard, on Prime Video, today, and was surprised at how compelling the first episode was. I did not think it would be as good as the big 4, if you know what I mean; but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the fact that Prime listed the series as having an AD track, the first EP, does not; at least it does not have one in Prime. And you can forget about an AD track in iTunes. So disappointed. I know that a while ago, a list member informed us that Apple does not offer the AD track for Picard but I was hoping that this would change, alas, it has not. Even though I enjoyed watching the first EP of Picard, without AD, I know I will enjoy the series, more completely, with AD. So, as kind of an early Christmas gift to myself, I have decided to subscribe to Paramount Plus, at least until I have seen all of Picard. Of course I can and will sign up for the 7-day free trial but I don't want to provide info to yet another company unless I am reasonably certain that it will provide the expected service. It's really quite sad that, even in late 2023, audio description is so scarcely available. If you will allow me to wax philosophically for a moment: I will not be impress by this so-called new AI generation until it, AI that is, can be used to provide audio description to those of us who are blind or low vision, on the fly. To be clear, I was responding to the app accessibility aspect of the question. It's funny. For so long all we wanted was more audio description. Now that it's everywhere, I find myself less and less interested in watching TV or even the movies. -Original Message- From: Cristóbal Muñoz Sent: Sunday, November 5, 2023 2:58 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: One Question to Paramount Plus Subscribers Haven't use it in a long time, but can't you also just access Paramount Plus and other streaming services via the Apple TV app on your device? Of course I can and will sign up for the 7-day free trial but I don't want to provide info to yet another company unless I am reasonably certain that it will provide the expected service. It's really quite sad that, even in late 2023, audio description is so scarcely available. If you will allow me to wax philosophically for a moment: I will not be impress by this so-called new AI generation until it, AI that is, can be used to provide audio description to those of us who are blind or low vision, on the fly. Re: One Question to Paramount Plus Subscribers
I listened to Picard by getting the mp3 files from audiovault.net since having the video would not matter to me.
