That is because the Streaming track of the show uses one of the stereo
channels to announce from. That's why you only hear the description
from one of your earphones or earbuds.

Yes there is a lot more shows and movies that have the Audio Description
track to them, but it is still a small percentage of the shows.  Until
we have better laws to enforce this, it will be a long time before we
see a bigger percentage of Audio for shows in general.

I am not sure where you find audio descriptions everywhere. A couple of weeks
ago I looked through the top 10 movies on Netflix and I think out of them 1 or
2 had audio descriptions and some of them were brand new 2023 releases.
Captions for the hearing impaired exist on literally everything and it
shouldn't evben be allowed these days to release a new movie or TV series
without audio descriptions.

are to the end of the year for bills to be passed I have my doubts.
Then the information and bill will have to be put back on the table for

isn't a law that forces all shows on any streaming service to be

Okay, as it turns out, only the first episode of Star Trek, Picard, has all of
the audio, when AD is enabled, incorrectly shunted to the left speaker.

Subsequent episodes and other AD enabled content plays all of the audio,
including the AD track, in stereo., as expected.

For those who may be interested, I have the Paramount Plus iPAD / iOS and Apple

I created my account, via Safari web browser and selected the annual

Hello Jody, et al,

Okay, I just started playing the first episode of Star Trek, Picard, in the
Paramount app on my iPad and when AD is enabled, all of the audio plays through
the left earpod, only.

Is there a fix for this?

Why must these things be so difficult?

I Lyssin to Picard on the Paramount Plus app on my iPhone. The audio
description is available. Do you have to turn it on in every episode in the
upper right hand corner of the screen.

The third season is the best! And if you have Paramount+ you can also watch
strange new worlds which is even better!

I know that a while ago, a list member informed us that Apple does not offer

Even though I enjoyed watching the first EP of Picard, without AD, I know I

So, as kind of an early Christmas gift to myself, I have decided to subscribe

Of course I can and will sign up for the 7-day free trial but I don't want to

It's really quite sad that, even in late 2023, audio description is so scarcely

On the subject of audio description, I really like that a huge number
of the content on the Disney + app has audio description. I just wish
that the volume of the movies themselves were louder. Also, on the
free app Tubi, there is now an audio description category. That is
very cool.

2023-11-05 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

Okay, as it turns out, only the first episode of Star Trek, Picard, has all of
the audio, when AD is enabled, incorrectly shunted to the left speaker.

Subsequent episodes and other AD enabled content plays all of the audio,
including the AD track, in stereo., as expected.

For those who may be interested, I have the Paramount Plus iPAD / iOS and Apple
TV app working perfectly.

I created my account, via Safari web browser and selected the annual
subscription which includes Paramount Plus essentials and ShowTime without ads
for $119.

I do have the 7-day trial period so, I can cancel at anytime during the next 7
days but will not do so as there is a lot of content that I look forward to
enjoying during the next 12 months.

RE: One Question to Paramount Plus Subscribers

2023-11-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am not sure where you find audio descriptions everywhere. A couple of weeks
ago I looked through the top 10 movies on Netflix and I think out of them 1 or
2 had audio descriptions and some of them were brand new 2023 releases.
Captions for the hearing impaired exist on literally everything and it
shouldn't evben be allowed these days to release a new movie or TV series
without audio descriptions.

It's funny. For so long all we wanted was more audio description. Now that it's
everywhere, I find myself less and less interested in watching TV or even the
movies.

If that happens it would of course be absolutely amazing, but not to be
impressed by it now probably means you have not use the Be My AI feature in the
Be My Eyes app. I am also somebody who is not all that easily impressed any
more, but every time I request a description of a photo on my iPhone or one I
just took, I am impressed all over again and I can't wait until it's possible

Hello All,

Okay, I just want to make certain that the Paramount Plus app for iOS / iPad /
Apple TV is still accessible with the audio description feature, as of today,
in iOS 17 and its associated operating systems.

I purchased the first episode of Star Trek, Picard, on Prime Video, today, and
was surprised at how compelling the first episode was. I did not think it
would be as good as the big 4, if you know what I mean; but I was pleasantly
surprised.

Despite the fact that Prime listed the series as having an AD track, the first
EP, does not; at least it does not have one in Prime.

And you can forget about an AD track in iTunes. So disappointed.

I know that a while ago, a list member informed us that Apple does not offer
the AD track for Picard but I was hoping that this would change, alas, it has
not.

Even though I enjoyed watching the first EP of Picard, without AD, I know I
will enjoy the series, more completely, with AD.

So, as kind of an early Christmas gift to myself, I have decided to subscribe
to Paramount Plus, at least until I have seen all of Picard.

Of course I can and will sign up for the 7-day free trial but I don't want to
provide info to yet another company unless I am reasonably certain that it will
provide the expected service.

It's really quite sad that, even in late 2023, audio description is so scarcely

I Lyssin to Picard on the Paramount Plus app on my iPhone. The audio
description is available. Do you have to turn it on in every episode in the
upper right hand corner of the screen.

The third season is the best! And if you have Paramount+ you can also watch

couldn’t you just access the same content via the TV app bypassing the

Based on all the articles I've read, I have decided to subscribe directly to

It's really quite sad that, even in late 2023, audio description is so scarcely
available.

If you will allow me to wax philosophically for a moment:
I will not be impress by this so-called new AI generation until it, AI that is,
can be used to provide audio description to those of us who are blind or low
vision, on the fly.

All replies greatly appreciated.

If that happens it would of course be absolutely amazing, but not to be
impressed by it now probably means you have not use the Be My AI feature in the
Be My Eyes app. I am also somebody who is not all that easily impressed any
more, but every time I request a description of a photo on my iPhone or one I
just took, I am impressed all over again and I can't wait until it's possible
to submit short videos using Be My AI which hopefully will be possible at some

Subject: One Question to Paramount Plus Subscribers

It's really quite sad that, even in late 2023, audio description is so scarcely
available.

If you will allow me to wax philosophically for a moment:
