RE: Onscreen Keyboard Does Not Show Up On my iPhones since Recent Update

2023-10-23 Thread Richard Turner
After pressing cord+q and gotten the keyboard back, locking your phone, then
turning off the braille display?

I don't have a Focus but that works with the Orbit displays and the older
Braille Edge.

Hi Group,

I am still having issues with the onscreen keyboard being suppressed in some
fashion when it interacts with the Focus 40 blue latest edition Braille
keyboard. I do get some positive results when I press the Q chord, but then if
I turn off Quick Nav, I an still getting issues if I turn off the Display. My
only sure way for this not to happen is to keep the Braille display on and then
the keyboard will show up.

Hi Ron

I've had that problem too. What you need to do, is put your cursor in the text
area like usual. Then, while keeping your finger in that area, turn voice over
off then with your finger, do a long press, hopefully when you then turn voice
over back on, your keyboard should be there.

Hi Group,

I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this and if there is a fix.

For years now, when using the iPhone, when I double tap an edit field, I get
the message: 'text field insertion point at start (sometimes insertion point at
end.' I can then move down to a keyboard with standard QWERTY keys and a
dictate button and enter/search/go button in the bottom right area.

I hadn't tried entering anything for a week or so and I noticed there had been
an update to the IOS in the past few days. Now when I double tap on an edit
field, I no longer see a QWERTY type keyboard anywhere on screen for me to
enter text. There is a dictate button, but nothing else.

is this a bug introduced recently in the latest IOS update? How can I make the
onscreen keyboard appear as it has for years? Thanks for any help.

2023-10-22 Thread Richard Turner
Jennifer,
Do you use any bluetooth keyboards, qwerty or braille?

If so, connect it and make sure the QuickNav is off before disconnecting the
keyboard or braille display.

Disconnecting while QuickNav is on has left me in the same boat at times.
But since I made sure to turn QuickNav off before disconnecting, no problems
have raised their ugly head.

With a QWERTY keyboard the QuickNav toggle is pressing the left and right arrow
keys at the same time.
With a braille display, the toggle command is space+q.

Under VoiceOver settings, Verbosity, I have the QuickNav status set to speak so
I know exactly what it is doing.

RE: Onscreen Keyboard Does Not Show Up On my iPhones since Recent Update

2023-10-21 Thread Debbie April Yuille
Thanks. It wasn't easy. I googled the problem and the fix I found was for
sighted users. So, I realised that I needed to get my focus in the right area,
then use the shortcut to turn voice over off and on again.

2023-10-20 Thread Ron Canazzi

Hi Richard,

Thanks much. I do indeed have a Freedom Scientific Focus 40 Blue Braille
Display.  Now I have to figure out how to turn off quick NAV.  I am sure
it's under settings somewhere.

Disconnecting while QuickNav is on has left me in the same boat at times.
But since I made sure to turn QuickNav off before disconnecting, no problems
have raised their ugly head.
