RE: Phone not responding to two-finger double-tap with incoming call.

2020-05-03 Thread Carolyn
You mean hold down the Power Button for 12 seconds. I can't see anything, as an
old lady told me back when I was young, she said about herself, "I couldn't see
the moon if it was on the end of my nose."

OK, thanks. That was how it was with my SE.

I hope I don't miss any more calls, but that has happened to me on two

Re: Phone not responding to two-finger double-tap with incoming call.

2020-05-03 Thread Arnold Schmidt
Sieghard,
It is good to know how to do this reset on a modern phone, for a while,
people didn't know how to do it. But people should pay attention when you say
not to hold the power button too long, in that if you do, it goes into
recovery mode, the only way to get it out is to connect it to a computer
running iTunes. If I had a modern phone and computer running modern iTunes, I
would have put it into recovery mode on purpose one time just to see how long
is too long, and how hard it is to get my device out of recovery mode. If you
have done it on purpose, let us know the answers to how long and how hard.
Thanks for any information.

RE: Phone not responding to two-finger double-tap with incoming call.

2020-05-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I have an iPhone 8, as far as doing a hard reset you press and hold the power
button for about 10 or 12 seconds after first pressing and releasing volume up
and volume down.
I would not recommend to hold it too much longer than that and if you wear a
wired headset you may hear a small click or snick when the phone restarts, it
is very faint so probably not something you would pick up if you have any sort
of hearing loss.

How long do you have to hold down the power button when doing a forced reset?

Is that the last step in doing a forced reset or, do you have to also tap
something on the screen to finish the forced reset?

RE: Phone not responding to two-finger double-tap with incoming call.

2020-05-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Anna,

OK, I never paid attention since I only press Volume up and Volume down if I
want to force a reset.
There maybe fewer controls on that screen, but whenever I press and hold the
power button, after a few seconds Voiceover says "Power off" and that is the
button which has focus so all I do is double tap and the phone powers down.

Hi Sieghard,

If you press Volume Up, then Volume Down, and only hold the Power button for a
couple of seconds, a simple screen with a Power Off button opens. I use this
method to shut down all the time, and I think the result is exactly like the
method you describe except the Power Off screen has fewer controls on it. If
you hold the Power button for 10 seconds or so, a reset happens.

Best,
Anna

Re: Phone not responding to two-finger double-tap with incoming call.

2020-05-02 Thread Jennie Facer
To power your phone off, press volume up or down button along with the side
button for a couple of seconds. Then you will want to double tap on power off.

Phone not responding to two-finger double-tap with incoming call.

2020-05-02 Thread Carolyn
This happened to me again today. I tried powering my phone
off.

I thought to power off I was to press Volume Up and Volume,
then hold in Power key. I went wrong somewhere.

To be more specific, should I hold Volume Up and Volume Down
a few seconds, and then, how long should I hold Power Button
to turn off? Then, when ready to turn back on, how long
should I turn on the Power Button. I think I asked this
before. I will make note of any instructions for the future.
