The FridgidAire model I saw on Amazon I believe mentioned that it has a drain
and that it is self-cleaning.

That’s what I found. The first one I had, I think some mechanism that hits a
little switch in there so it knows the tray is back in position and that it can
start another cycle probably broke, so the tray would move back up, stop, and
then it would reset, go back down, up, etc, and never start pumping water from
the reservoir again unless it got lucky and worked sometimes. The second one
just ended up getting too dirty, and it’s hard even for a seeing person to
clean it. I wonder if there is some kind of solution one can just run through
to clean up the water residue that accumulates in there? I know they are hard
to drain out, and you can’t always get all of the water out through that little
hole the drain plug fits in.

Hi. I’ve used 2 different ice makers. The first one was, I believe a Danby and
the other was kitchen aid. Both of them had physical buttons. From experience
they don’t last all that long and are apparently a real bugger to clean.

Hi Rick,

This sounds like something we need! Would you please tell me it's size /

RE: Accessible Ice Maker

2022-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It seems that 26 pounds per day and "ice as in 6 minutes or less" seems to be a
very common standard on all the models I briefly looked at on Amazon.
If you have a Best Buy nearby that might be the way to go because then you can
check it out before you buy it and before you end up having to send it back to
Amazon.
I am guilty myself of having ordered something here and there knowing I may not
like it and thinking that of course I can just put it back in the box and
return it. I try to do this less now because all the "easy return" stuff causes
a huge impact on the environment because it adds a huge percentage of extra
shipping.
