Re: Blood Sugar Tracking App

2014-03-26 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, I wonder how Drafts might work for something like this. You can
configure it to add a line of text to an existing file. Of course I'm
not sure how it can be manipulated to add numbers or track statistics or
anything, but worth a look in case Drafts might help with this.

Hi,

I agree that a spreadsheet is the best way to go for us blindies. However when
I changed from Windows mobile where I could enter my readings in the
spreadsheet on the fly, to the iPhone, I had no way to do this. So I gave up on
the spreadsheet.

If you can be bothered logging results in notes, then adding them to a
spreadsheet, then stick to that. If your lazy like me and only want to enter
them once, try Glucose Buddy.

If you sync to the glucose buddy site, you can see your results in a table, so
its still quite easy to see trends For Example, post breakfast readings being
too high. If you log your records long enough, you can also see the average A1C
on the site.

This has inspired me to take another look at numbers, since I hear its
accessibility has improved.

Cheers,
Brett.

I say that because I have tried probably two dozen blood sugar tracking apps

Really, the best solution I have found so far is to create a sheet in Excel
on my PC. I know virtually nothing about Excel, so you might imagine how
simple it is. But, I am able to follow columns to spot trends. I am
fortunate to have a copy of MicroSoft Office, but there must be other
spreadsheet programs for the PC or Mac. I have not yet tried using my sheet
with Numbers on my phone/pad, so what I am doing in the meantime is simply
noting results in Notes until I am able to enter them into the worksheet.

It really seems most apps for this purpose want to be to pretty or too
techie. I really wish there was something as simple as the paper logs that
come with strips and meters or as straightforward as the spreadsheet I
created. I am still open to others' findings.

Re: Blood Sugar Tracking App

2014-03-25 Thread SSEric
Brett, glucose buddy is the one app I have stuck with the longest. The problem
I find with it is printing out results. Each time I have tried or had someone
else try, they tell me the columns come out all messed up. I can't figure out
why. Do you have any ideas on that?

The most recent issue I found was when I started using insulin with meals. I
use a sliding amount, and I cannot figure out how to enter both numbers of
carbs and insulin amount. It seems to want to treat them as two separate log
entries.

Maybe with some tips from other users, I can go back to using this app. It
would be nice to have everything in one place.

All thanks!

Eric

Hi Eric,

I'm not using anything at the moment: I've been a bit slack lately. I will
reinstall it and get back to you later today.

Were you the one commenting on spreadsheets being the best way to track things?
I found my old spreadsheet and tried it with Numbers last night. It is now very
doable, a little fiddly but werth it for the extra info I can get.

Cheers,

RE: Blood Sugar Tracking App

2014-03-24 Thread Alan Lemly
The tedious thing about most if not all of these blood glucose tracking apps
is that they require manual entry of your test scores into the app's
database. I much prefer using a blood glucose meter which has companion
software that will allow transfer of the scores from the meter to the
software via a USB or some other connection. Of course, this software must
be run on a computer but I know the Prodigy Voice glucose meter is
accessible and has companion software.

Hi,
Where can I find the accessible companion software?
I downloaded software from the Prodigy website, but it doesn't seem to

The Prodigy software became available some time after their blood glucose

RE: Blood Sugar Tracking App

2014-03-24 Thread SSEric
I would consider myself a fairly high level Apple user, not expert, but far
better than a lot.

I say that because I have tried probably two dozen blood sugar tracking apps
and found them all to be lacking in some way or other. Mostly, it seems
following results for comparison and trends.

Eric

Re: Blood Sugar Tracking App

2014-03-24 Thread Brett

Cheers,
Brett.
