Re: Control center

2023-01-12 Thread Anna Dresner
Hello,

Sound Recognition and Background Sounds are two different things. Sound
Recognition listens for sounds you specify and notifies you if it hears one.
Background Sounds plays a sound in the background, such as rain or ocean waves.
You’re right, Bill; it isn’t in control Center, which is too bad. It can be
assigned to the Accessibility Shortcut; you would triple-click the Home or Side
button and choose it or VoiceOver. However, that’s obviously not ideal. I also
didn’t have any luck when I asked Siri to turn it on. It is possible to create
a shortcut that turns it on or off; that may be your best bet. To do that, open
Shortcuts, choose create shortcut, find Background Sounds, and choose Toggle.

HTH,
Anna

Hi William,

Go to Settings and choose Control Center. There are Included Controls and More
controls sections, each of which starts with a heading. If you choose something
in More Controls, it gets added to Included Controls, and the item appears in
Control Center.

Hi

Can someone explain to me step by step how to do this please?

Turn use of Control Centre in applications on or off. Press the indicator next
to "Access Within Apps" to turn the function on or off. If you turn on the
function, Control Centre can be used both on the home screen and while using
other applications.

Thanks in advance

RE: control center

2021-09-29 Thread Anthony Borg

Re: control center. where is it?

2014-03-24 Thread Christopher J Chaltain
I'm not sure I understand your message, but to bring up the Control
Center, toch the status bar and then do a three finger swipe up. You
don't need to go down and then up. Just touch the top of the screen with
one finger until you hear a status icon and then place three fingers
near the bottom of the screen and swipe up. This works for me on my
iPhone 4S running 7.1.

center opens. But if I go to the status bar, and I slide 3 fingers
down to up, nothing opens. In my own phone, and the rest of iPhones
that I tried today, all of them open the control center when I slide 3
fingers down to up. What could be in the wrong place to do not let me
open the control center when I slide 3 fingers down to up?

Re: Control Center

2014-03-16 Thread Christopher J Chaltain
I don't have a problem bringing up the Control Panel by either touching
a status icon at the top of the screen and performing a three finger
swipe up or by touching and holding the bottom of the screen before
sliding my finger up. These methods both work for me while VO is
running. I'm doing this on an iPhone 4S.

Are you touching the status bar first? Also, if you touch the very, very bottom
of the center of the screen, you'll hear a two-tone sound. Move your finger
straight up once you hear it and you can open the Control Center that way. The
same gesture also works from the top of the screen, to open the Notification

RE: Control center

2013-10-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No double tap is needed, just touching the time or an item in the status bar
followed by a 3-finger swipe down or up will do the trick. The double tap
won't hurt, but it's not necessary.

Hello Kathy and all:

Hey, congratulations on getting an iPhone. that is pretty exciting and
hopefully things are coming along well.

If you wish to activate the notification center:

1. perform a double tap on the status bar. the status bar is the area were
you hear things like how many bars you have, the network you are on such as
ATT 4G, the wifi network if you are connected . etc.

2. perform the 3 finger swipe down and you should hear . notification
center.

If you want to get to the control center, perform a double tap on the status
bar and then perform a three finger swipe upward and that should do it :).

Hopefully this information proves useful to you. Please let us know.

Take good care and I wish you enough.

You don't have to double tap or swipe with 3 fingers if you practice the
 following:

 For Notification Center:
Touch the time just underneath the earpiece and hold for just a moment. You
will hear a little double tone and if at that point you pull down with just
that one finger you have on the screen Notification Center comes up.

 For Control Center:
Touch whatever app you have in your dock in the middle just above the home
key. Hold a moment and you hear that same double tone, now without lifting
the finger swipe up with one finger jand the Control Center will come up.

This is a close as it gets to simulating the gesture a sighted person would

don't even use the 3-finger swipe any more.

Re: control center

2013-09-20 Thread Neil Barnfather - TalkNav
James et al,

I think the confusion is caused by the fact that in Settings/Control Centre the
instruction is to simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen, there is no
direction as to how to do this with Voice Over…

For me, I also couldn't make it work, until yesterday evening when I touched
the top of the screen to hear the time, and did nothing else, Voice OVer then
read the help tag which told me to swipe down for the Notification Centre and
up for the Control Centre.

This is not in line with the generic text as to how to operate the Control
Centre found in the Settings/Control Centre.

It would have been helpful if there had been a note to explain this, also, now
we find that some of the folk that have had iOS7 a little longer in fact no of
other, additional, work arounds and methods of bringing it up.

Essentially, you're not alone in being confused and now I've found it I find it
of use to have those specific commands in one location.

RE: control center

2013-09-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Andy,

Yes, as a Voiceover user you can also do this, just touch the time or the
app just above your home key in the dock. In either case you hear a double
tone and as soon as that happens you can drag that one finger you used to
touch the screen down (if you touch the time and want Notification Center)
or up (if you touched an app in the dock and want Control Center).

James et al,

I think the confusion is caused by the fact that in Settings/Control Centre
the instruction is to simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen, there
is no direction as to how to do this with Voice Over.

For me, I also couldn't make it work, until yesterday evening when I touched
the top of the screen to hear the time, and did nothing else, Voice OVer
then read the help tag which told me to swipe down for the Notification
Centre and up for the Control Centre.

This is not in line with the generic text as to how to operate the Control
Centre found in the Settings/Control Centre.

It would have been helpful if there had been a note to explain this, also,
now we find that some of the folk that have had iOS7 a little longer in fact
no of other, additional, work arounds and methods of bringing it up.

Essentially, you're not alone in being confused and now I've found it I find
it of use to have those specific commands in one location.

2013-09-20 Thread Cara Quinn
Andy and all,

Again, we can also do this with only one finger if we wish.

Touch in the dock with one finger, wait until you hear a double tone, which is
reminiscent of the pass-through tones, and then simply slide your finger up.

Control Center will come up for you now.

This gesture may be a bit finicky so you may need to try it more than once.

RE: control center

2013-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Anna,

You don't have to double tap or swipe with 3 fingers if you practice the
following:

For Notification Center:
Touch the time just underneath the earpiece and hold for just a moment. You
will hear a little double tone and if at that point you pull down with just
that one finger you have on the screen Notification Center comes up.

For Control Center:
Touch whatever app you have in your dock in the middle just above the home
key. Hold a moment and you hear that same double tone, now without lifting
the finger swipe up with one finger jand the Control Center will come up.

This is a close as it gets to simulating the gesture a sighted person would
use for Notification and Control Center. I have gotten used to it by now and
don't even use the 3-finger swipe any more.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: control center and iTunes radio

2013-09-19 Thread John Diakogeorgiou
Just to clarify the last two comments, touch the clock and swipe from
the bottom of the screen to the top with three fingers.

 Hi,

iTunes radio is in the Music app. Its the button in the bottom left
 corner.

To open the control centre you need to first touch the status bar, where the
time is then do a 3 finger flick up.

Where is iTunes radio? Also, I see Control Center in the settings, but
there is no place to turn it on. It says to swipe up towards the top of
the screen to open it up, but I cannot do this. It never comes up.

Thanks for any help on any of this.

Re: control center

2013-09-19 Thread John Diakogeorgiou
sieghard I cannot replicate your instructions to anna. I am not sure
what I am doing wrong.

On 9/19/13, Sieghard Weitzel siegh...@live.ca wrote:

I have gotten used to it by now
 and
don't even use the 3-finger swipe any more.

 Regards,
 Sieghard

 Hi,

YOu can also double-tap and hold at the bottom of the screen and then slide
your finger up. Either way brings up Control Center.

 Best,
 Anna

Then, when you do a 3 finger flick up, control center should be there.

I am not too happy with IOS7 myself. But, i have noticed, i am unable to
 get
the control center to pup up with voice over on. when i flick upwards i
 just
get the default ding sound. if i take voice over off, and flick upwards,
 then
re-enable voice over, control center is then up. anyone else having this
 problem?
