Re: Dictation Function Not Working

2015-06-08 Thread Terry-Ann Saurmann
I have had difficulty with dictation as well over the past few weeks. However,
just to be clear, I am not dictating to Siri, but instead am using the
dictate button, wlocated to the left of the space bar. I prefer this
dictation feature when in text editing for emails, texting and other apps that
require written text. To solve this problem when my dictation is either
prematurely ended, or I am able to complete it, but Voice Over does not
automatically read it back to me, I move my finger around the middle of the
screen until I find the dictated text and then swipe once to the left and then
back to the right, so that Voice Over will read what I have written. I then
double tap the screen with one finger to put the cursor at the top of the text.
If I am satisfied with what has been written, I then swipe once to the right
to the send button. However, there have been times when this button has been
dimmed, so that I could not yet send the text. When this happens, I simply
wait a few seconds and try to send it again, at which time I am usually
successful in doing so. Terry

Dictation had always worked like a champ for me until the last few weeks or so.
So, I don't know what is going on now. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved.

Hi Terry,

You have provided an excellent description of what I and other iPhone users are
experiencing in my area. I was not sure if this was an APPLE/iPhone problem or

message is incomplete. I typically have to wait until the send button is no
longer dimmed and pick up where dictation left off. This has been a problem for

I find that the dictation feature stops working after I’ve connectted to our

Re: Dictation Function Not Working

2015-06-05 Thread hebertisaac99
I don't kno if this will fix the problem but have you tried this?
First go to settings.
Next go to general.
Next go to keyboard.
Next swipe to enable dictation and then double tap. This will disable dictation.
Then reenable dictation try that and see if that works.

dictated in many apps with no problem for a long time. This has happened in
the past week or two. It also happens when I stop dictating before the
 dictate buffer is full.
I have rebooted phone by turning it off, waiting, and turning it back on
 with no change.
Can anyone suggest settings to check or what I should do next?
I use this feature a lot and would hate to lose it.
 Thank you for your thoughts.

Re: Dictation Function Not Working

2015-06-05 Thread Ann Smith
Hello, I too am having dictation problems of my own. I have a two-month-old
iPhone 6 got my running 8.3. I contacted Apple care plus the other day because
my dictation was not completing everything I dictated.
In other words, I would dictate a paragraph or two, it will drop off the last
three or four sentences. Very very frustrating :-( so, Apple wanted me to find
out how many gigahertz my cordless phone was running on. They thought that the
two machines might be interfering with each other
So, do you think the advice to the previous poster might work for my situation
as well?

RE: Dictation Function Not Working

2015-06-05 Thread Cristóbal
This happens to me every so often. I’ve found no other way to get the dictation
feature back or Siri for that matter, but to completely turn off and on the
phone.
