RE: Major S E 2020 problems

2022-04-09 Thread blazie.girl
Don,

I had this happen just this morning. Nothing I tried got VoiceOver to speak.
Finally I rebooted my phone an all is good.

Subject: Major S E 2020 problems

My S E 2020 is almost non-functional. I will list the major symptoms and hope
that I get some educated guesses which will help me resolve the issues.

First of all, let me list the things which still work. Siri continues to
function. I can make and receive phone calls. I can make the calls by dictating
contact names or phone numbers. Although voiceOver is turned on, I have no
speech. Even though Siri works, I used the three finger double tap to see
whether this altered anything. Since it didn't, I again pressed the three
finger double tap. Pressing the side button does not cause the little sound
which indicates whether the screen is locked.
No speech is heard when I swipe through the icons on the home screen.

I intend to call Apple in the morning, but with no verbal feedback, I don't see
how I can accept screen sharing.

So there you have it. I will be most grateful for suggestions. In conclusion,
if I didn't say so previously, the mute switch is not off, and the volume is
maxed.

RE: Major S E 2020 problems

2022-04-09 Thread Christopher Chaltain
As others have already pointed out, your problem may be that the VoiceOver
volume is too low. Another thing that would explain your symptoms is if
VoiceOver isn't running and you don't have the accessibility shortcut key set
up to toggle VoiceOver.
* How do you know voiceOver is running?
* When you say you use the button on the right side of phone, are you pressing
it three times quickly?
* Did you configure the accessibility key to toggle VoiceOver?
* Have you tried turning VoiceOver on with Siri?
Sorry if these questions don't help. I'm just trying to move the ball forward.

2022-04-09 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Remember you’ve got two independent volumes: one for the system in general, and
Voiceover’s volume. Try to get something to read via the 2-finger up gesture,
and while it’s reading, continuly press the Volume Up button, until you hear
Voiceover talk. Good luck!

I don't see how I can accept screen sharing.

So there you have it. I will be most grateful for suggestions. In
conclusion, if I didn't say so previously, the mute switch is not
off, and the volume is maxed.

Re: Major S E 2020 problems

2022-04-09 Thread Gordon
Have you checked to make sure that voice over volume isn't turned down
in the rotor? To do this you need to make sure that the phone is on and
able to take rotor commands. Turn the rotor and each time you do, flick
up one time. When the voice volume is all the way down in the rotor, you
have no speech.

My S E 2020 is almost non-functional. I will list the major symptoms

the issues.

First of all, let me list the things which still work. Siri continues
to function. I can make and receive phone calls. I can make the calls
by dictating contact names or phone numbers. Although voiceOver is
turned on, I have no speech. Even though Siri works, I used the three
finger double tap to see whether this altered anything. Since it
didn't, I again pressed the three finger double tap. Pressing the side
button does not cause the little sound which indicates whether the
screen is locked. No speech is heard when I swipe through the icons on
the home screen.

I intend to call Apple in the morning, but with no verbal feedback, I
don't see how I can accept screen sharing.
