Unfortunately, they do not work well with VoiceOver. VoiceOver plays fine through them if there is something else playing, but VoiceOver, by itself, stutters, is delayed, and sound almost as if there is a loose connection somewhere, even though there isn't really. It is unfortunate that VoiceOver does not work well with them, they sound better than the HBS700's, with which VoiceOver works fine. Does anyone have any experience with the LG HBS730 Tone+ stereo blue tooth headset? It's available from Amazon for about $45 and a client just told me about it today. It is A2DP compliant, so should work with VoiceOver and play content from Audible.com, Bard mobile app, and VoiceDream. It comes with a sort of three-quarters of a circle collar that has the controls and rests on your neck. The earpieces are ear buds that stick directly in your ear, are connected to the collar by short wires because they don't have to reach very far, and attach magnetically back to the collar when you're done with them in your ears. I'm curious if anyone has tried them yet, and whatever feedback you might be willing to offer. Or, has anyone tried other LG blue tooth products? It has a little thing on the side you could clip on a clip. It also has buttons on it for answering the iPhone and talking through it. And the Trekker Breeze is not Bluetooth equipped either. I've asked Humanware to come up with a Trekker app for iPhone. They have said in the past that they had no plans to do so. On the other hand, when they see what the Seeing Eye GPS app wants for a month, maybe they'll change their minds. To me however, I wouldn't pay a hundred and twenty dollars a year for it but that's me and I have 3 GPS units for the blind plus a free GPS app on my phone as a backup. Re: Stereo Headset
Walmart, Radio Shack and other stores all sell portable speakers in all sizes shapes and configurations. For example, I bought a small stereo speaker that's around 3 inches high by 7 inches long and 2 inches thick. It uses 4 double A. batteries or it's supplied power supply. My daughter gave me a small speaker kit she got at Walmart. The speaker is a mono 2 inch ball. It sort of looks like a 2 inch high Christmas ornament and it has a 4 inch cord ending in a 3.5 Mm jack. It also has a clip which you can clip to a pocket or your shirt. The speaker comes with a cord that plugs into a USB port to recharge. Battery life is around 8 to 14 hours depending on discharge use. I have another small portable speaker that is about a 20 dollar speaker. It's a stereo speaker and is about a2 inches high and 5 inches long and uses 3 triple A. batteries. In other words, it's long and skinny. The audio cable is actually a wrist strap. To use the speaker you just grab the 3.5 Mm plug and twist counter clock wise. Then plug it into your iPone etc and turn on the power button. The sound is very good for a 25 dollar speaker. All these speakers I've described I own. The last one was my wife's. She's a registered nurse working in the kidney dialysis field. She needed it for more sound from a 7 inch portable DVD player. She used it to have her patients watch a dialysis video. They have a new system built right into the dialysis chairs so she no longer needed it and gave it to me. I asked her where she got it. She was the one who told me about these small portable speakers. You may have to ask for them at Walmart in the electronics department as they probably are under lock and key but they are out there in all sizes up to the Bose Sound Dock 10 which will set you back 7 hundred bucks but it has a Bluetooth adapter you can buy and connect your iPhone to it via BT connection. The sound dock 10 is made to be used with 128 MP3 files. The sound is amazing and not just in the low bass. The dynamic range of this speaker will blow you away but for that price range it should. RE: Stereo Headset
Hi Guys and Gals, I bought a small Bluetooth speaker from Walmart that you could clip on your collar. It was only $19.00. It is about two inches round and is only about 3/4 inch thick. It is made by Phillips. They came in black, red and white. It has a little thing on the side you could clip on a clip. It also has buttons on it for answering the iPhone and talking through it. I use it all the time with my iPad. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Brent Harding Sent: Thursday, January 16, 2014 1:32 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Stereo Headset I know, like the Trekker Breeze little speaker, but Humanware probably special orders those. - Original Message - From: SSEric sseri...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Thursday, January 16, 2014 7:30 AM Subject: Re: Stereo Headset It sure would be nice to find a small speaker you could clip on your collar. Re: Stereo Headset
Mich, My understanding is that this update is not just a firmware update but is also a hardware update. For example, I've heard they're going to support bluetooth 4.0. Therefore, you would have to buy a new pair of head phones, and you wouldn't be able to just update the firmware by attaching it to your PC and running some update program. RE: Stereo Headset
I have another question on a related topic. Bluetooth would be great. There are the flips headphones that you can lay on your shoulders and use as speakers, but they were very expensive. I'm not sure of the quality either. Note that the fidelity isn't great on these head phones and you have a lot of bleeding, i.e. others can year some noise leaking from these head phones. Although I recommend them strongly when you want to hear VoiceOver as well as what's going on around you, I wouldn't recommend them for music or using in a meeting. The Bluetooth moddle is what I'm looking for. Also, how many devices can be pared with these headphones? Reason I ask is my computer also is Bluetooth compatible and I'd like to have a pair of headphones I can use on Both. Thanks so much.
