The only voice which is free is Heather. Any other voice you want costs either $1.99 or $2.99. You can read any Word file, PDF, HTML and of course BookShare. What was really neat about reading a Word file is that if a phone number is in it the program recognizes it as such and lets you dial it. If you look at the various voices, if you slide your finger to the right you will find if there is one a dollar amount for the one you want to use. if there is no dollar amount than it is free. Hi Dulce, From the main screen of the Voice Dream app, the Add button is in the lower left corner. Bookshare is the last item on the next screen, assuming you have put in your user name and password under settings. Once in the Bookshare page, the first item after the Bookshare heading is Search, double tap on that and type in your search terms. It will tell you how many results there are and begin listing them just a little way down the screen. Yes, you can download periodicals from Bookshare. However, the reading experience is going to vary widely depending on the newspaper or magazine you choose. I will personally still use NFB Newsline's app for that since it is much easier to navigate even poorly done newspapers. By poorly done, I mean the way they are provided to Newsline. Hi Gary, No, you cannot use Voice Dream Reader in any othe application, and you also cannot use it to read any book that has DRM. This includes Apple's FairPlay 2 DRM (used for copy-protected iBooks) and Adobe's ADE DRM (used extensively for many eBooks sold independently and also through apps for the Kobo eReader, Barnes Noble Nook (app available in the U.S. and U.K. only), etc. if you have a version of an eBook that does not have DRM from one of these sources, them you can import that book into Voice Dream Reader and read it. For example, you could import a copy of the ePub version of the iPhone User Guide that you got from the iBooks Store into Voice Dream Reader, since this file does not contain any digital rights management copy protection. Some publishers, like O'Reilly for computer books and Baen for science fiction books, don't use DRM for their eBooks. it otherwise, you'd have to experiment, or just assume that most other books from these sites have DRM, and can't be read with Voice Dream Reader, The few negative reviews of this app in the App Store seem to come from people who do not realize that this app cannot be used to read eBooks with DRM.
