Re: two finger double tap, and what plays in bard mobile
Rick, It is true that The two finger double tap or using the inline button on headphones is supposed to start and stop the last audio you had playing. I have not played the music app at all but about half the time the double tap or the inline button causes the music to start instead of just starting and stopping the book. There does not seem to be a predictable pattern to when the gesture works correctly to start or stop the book and when it goes to music instead. It seems not to matter whether the app is open or closed or whether there have been other interruptions such as phone calls or such in between. Although it does seem that if the double tap or inline click makes the ding noise when stopping the playback of a book then it will work to start it again. I wrote bard mobile support about this and got a nice reply this morning. They are aware of the problem and it will be fixed in an update. They did not say when, but at least we know they are on it. Re: two finger double tap, and what plays in bard mobile
Rick and all, Just to be clear, if the developers of the BARD app use the technique I mentioned before, of implementing the: accessibilityPerformMagicTap method in their code, they will be able to specify what will happen each and every time the two-finger double tap gesture is performed while someone is using their app. They can find info about this in the UIAccessibility Action Protocol Reference which is located on the Apple developer site. http://www.developer.apple.com Or they can search on the above term in Google. Hi John and list. John, this is not altogether true. As I mentioned before, the app developer can override this behavior by implementing a method in their code to specify the action they'd like the two-finger double tap gesture to perform while in their app. Hope this helps and have a great evening!… Smiles, Cara :) On Sep 22, 2013, at 2:57 PM, John Diakogeorgiou jdiakoge2...@gmail.com wrote: The two finger double tap will start or stop the last thing which was playing regardless of what app you are currently in. RE: two finger double tap, and what plays in bard mobile
Not sure it is an NLS problem. Both my wife and I have had issues of music starting with a double tap when on the home screen or in a totally unrelated app like phone. Thing is, neither of us have any music on our phones. Actually we did have a song by Uncle Cracker which I had accidentally bought about 3 years ago. So I deleted it and it still happens although it is not that song now. I'm speculating it is IRadio somehow getting kicked off instead of whatever we are trying to do. Actually the developers can fix this issue very easily by implementing a certain method in their code. If you like, you can advise them to look in the UIAccessibility Action Protocol Reference. Thanks Cara. I assume by developers you mean Apple since this is happening in iOS native apps and home screen. Think I should send this to accessibility or maybe Apple's support? Other times, when I’m in bard mobile, a two-finger double tap starts and stops either music from the music library, or sometimes audio from downcast. I can’t pinpoint what causes two finger double tap to sometimes work and sometimes not. To complicate issues, I’ve listened to audio through Bluetooth, through wired headphones, and directly connected to a dock. I haven’t used the app long enough to figure out the conditions under which bard mobile won’t play its own content when double tapped, but if others are experiencing this, perhaps we can bring it to nls’s attention I am running IOS 6 still, on an iPhone 4s. Re: two finger double tap, and what plays in bard mobile
The way you toggle play and pose in the Bard app is not a 2 finger double tap. It's a single finger double tap. In the documentation it makes reference to the fact that some gestures were changed to make it easier for users with limited hand and finger movement. Likewise, the previous and next buttons work the same way HTH. --- Regards, Alan Go Chicago Bears in 2013! Teenagers; Tired of being harassed by your stupid parents? Act now! Move out. Get a job. Hi Wayne, no, actually this is the job of the people who wrote the NLS app. Hope this helps! CQ :) On Sep 22, 2013, at 9:40 AM, Wayne gmail ewaynebrum...@gmail.com wrote: Thanks Cara. Just like others, this happens to me in a number of apps. I find that the first time you want to start audio in apps like downcast, At Batt, and BARD Mobile, you have to use the play button. After that, you can use the two finger double tap and it works just fine. For example, I brought up the BARD app today to continue listening to my book, and I had to hit the play button to start it. But after that , I just used a two finger double tap to pause and play.
