RE: Door locks with fingerprint technology with Bluetooth and accessible app?

2018-01-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Ask for electronic keypad locks from well-known companies like Schlage, Weiser,
Yale, Tamor etc.
Make sure you specify you want just an electronic lock, not a smartlock unless
of course you do want a smartlock.
Also, make sure you check to see if the lock has buttons to push and not a
touchscreen, those are just a pain in the neck and you have to put on dots and
all that. Tough luck if the trick or treaters come and peal all the tactile
dots off your touchscreen.
Mostly the button locks come in two flavours: phone keypad layout or a layout
where you have simply two rows of buttons, the top one is 1 to 5 and the bottom
one is 6 to 0. This means 6 is under the 1 and 0 under the 5. I have had two
locks with this layout from Schlage and Weiser and both had a separate “Lock”
button above the top rown in the middle (right above the 3).
I don’t mind either layout, but it’s up to you.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi,
I have one of these locks for many years. It uses a nine volt battery. It is
just like installing any other lock. You don’t need a professional.

Wow, both my keypad locks have the two rows with the lock button all by its

I really don’t find this at all inconvenient. I did have a lock before with a

My mom has a keypad lock like the one you mentioned. It drives me crazy,
because the numbers go from 1-5 along the top row, and 6-0 along the bottom
next row, with some unknown button right underneath the 8. I really wish it had
the numbers in a standard telephone layout, but I'm at their house so rarely
that it's not really a big deal. If I ever did get a keypad lock like this, I'd
like to find one with the numbers in the standard telephone layout.

Thanks,

Amazon of course sells most of them as well.

I do not have a security company, and I have no intention to hire one. It is

I asked my question because I have a tendency to lock myself out often. That
is why I thought of fingerprint or digital lock.

Now, I wonder how hard is it to install these locks. Do I need to hire a
specialist to assemble and install these kinds of locks, or I would be able to
do it myself? When it comes to the regular mechanical locks with keys, I
always change them myself without hiring a Locksmith. I am not sure how hard it
would be to install a digital lock by myself!

Find out the exact model and Google it, you’ll find all the features, specs and
most likely a user manual in PDF.
I don’t know why anybody in their right mind would want to Alexa enable a
doorlock. Alexa has no security as far as I can tell and if somebody knows you
have Alexa and a smart doorlock that works with it all they have to do is walk
up to an open window and ask Alexa to unlock your door. If I want to unlock my
Schlage Sense with SIRI it only works if I first unlock my phone with Touch Id
or my passcode.

We have a Yale key pad lock on our door that was provided by our security
company and I was wondering if anyone knows where we can get the users guide or
find out more how to use it. I don't want to have to asks the installer every
time I want to set another code for someone. I also want to know if they have
an app so we don't have to wade through Alarm.com to try to

My mom has a keypad lock like the one you mentioned. It drives me crazy,
because the numbers go from 1-5 along the top row, and 6-0 along the bottom
next row, with some unknown button right underneath the 8. I really wish it had
the numbers in a standard telephone layout, but I'm at their house so rarely
that it's not really a big deal. If I ever did get a keypad lock like this, I'd
like to find one with the numbers in the standard telephone layout.

Thanks,

Most of these locks are available at Home Depot, Best Buy also has some, but at
least Best Buy Canada does not seem to sell the Schlage Sense.
Definitely if you want just a basic electronic lock with keypad Home Depot or

Amazon of course sells most of them as well.

figure out the model number and where that might be. It really sucks when

2018-01-13 Thread Cris Ali
Thanks a million folks for this valuable information.
I do not have a security company, and I have no intention to hire one. It is
simply not needed in my area.
Cheers,
Cris

I also want to know if they have
an app so we don't have to wade through Alarm.com to try to find what might not
be there. I hear it is alexa enabled but don't know how to set that up either
and neither does our installer. I want to know if it is home kit capable as

These locks are quite accessible as Sieghard describes. We have one with a
touch screen which I can unlock with my iPhone or an actual key. The lock on
our backdoor has a tactile keypad. Neither lock was all that expensive and
booth are programmable. For example, the code for our housecleaners works only
on Thursday afternoon and the code for the pet sitter is active only while we
are on vacation.

I highly recommend these locks.

Since I have the tendency to lock myself out from time to time, I thought I
should explore the possibility of getting a door lock that works on
fingerprint. But It must have a Bluetooth connection to the phone so that I
can do the settings, or change them when I want to, provided that the App is
accessible with voiceover..
Are you guys aware of any such product?

Cheers,

Cris
