When you flick right after a letter, you get a full stop (period) character.
If this isn't the punctuation character you want then flick down the list.
Once you have the desired punctuation character, I can't remember but you go
on writing.

Don't really use this app now.

Hope this helps.

a clock time last night and could not figure out how to put a colon between
the hours and minutes. How does one get to characters other than numbers and
letters when typing with Flecksy?

I've read the help included with the app and I've listened to an excellent
podcast but if there is other instructional material or a user guide
available on the web for this app, I would love someone to direct me to it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Fleksy and Typing Special Characters

2013-03-28 Thread Traci
Also, if you put your finger on the keyboard area and hold it there, above the
letters is a row of special characters. For example, approximately above the Y
is the left parenthesis. Lift your finger from the screen, if the left
parenthesis is not what you want, then flick down to get similar options: right
parenthesis, brackets, braces, etc.

Just above that top row of letters is an entire row of special symbol options.
The more I've used them, the easier it has been to memorize and find them
quickly.

Re: Fleksy and Typing Special Characters

2013-03-25 Thread Regina Alvarado
I mostly use braille touch now, but Fleksy has its other symbols above the
keyboard at the top of the screen. Touch and wait for VO to speak a symbol. If
it is not what you want, flick down with one finger right there. Hope this
helps. Am going into Fleksy now to see if I can get a better way to tell you. I
love Fleksy, but braille is a little easier for me, though I still use it. Nice
to have a choice or whichever tapped first! (smiles)

Re: Fleksy and Typing Special Characters

2013-03-25 Thread Arianna
Hello, Alan,

Above the keyboard, there will be a row of symbols It takes a bit of getting
used to, but move your finger to one of those symbols, then lift up. After
doing that, just flick down. The symbol will change automatically each time
VoiceOver speaks each new symbol. If that's not the symbol that you're looking
for, just flick left to erase it. Slide your finger over to the next simple,
and repeat the process until you find the one you want. From what I've noticed,
the symbols seem to be arranged similarly to the symbols on the iOS symbols
keyboard layout. That is, each time you flick down to get more suggestions from
one of the symbol columns, if you will, they are presented a lot like the rows
of symbols on the symbols keyboard of iOS. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks,
Ari
