RE: InstaPot with iOS App Access

2019-11-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I just had another look on Amazon Canada and for now it seems the Instant Pot
Smart WiFi is back from third-party sellers and actually for not too bad of a
price. It is listed for $199.99 regular and currently on sale for $149.99, but
no free prime delivery and a $16 shipping fee in addition to the price.
Last time I looked maybe 6 or 8 weeks ago I also saw it from third party
sellers, but it was over $300 Canadian.
Given the current exchange rate from Canadian to US Dollars the regular US
price of $149.99 is pretty much exactly $200 give or take $5, so it is the same
as the regular price in the US.
If you can get it for $89.99 US on sale that would be about $120 Canadian so
still $30 or 20% cheaper than the sale price here and if you factor in the $16
shipping it's a $46 difference.
Still that isn't so bad, I put it in my cart, but I think I'll wait a week and
see if there is a better Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal and if there is I
may break down and buy one. I could then sell our stand-alone rice cooker and
slow cooker, both are pretty good quality and I may get $60 or $70 for both of
them so if I could get the Instant Pot for $129.99 or even $139.99 Canadian I
might do that.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Yes, you can get a good deal on the Wifi model of the Instapot. That is how I
bought mine back in July. It was for $89.99. I use my pot weekly. I don't
normally set it from the phone, although they have improved that. I use the
buttons, which beep when pressed, and just get confirmation from the app on my
phone.

RE: InstaPot with iOS App Access

2019-11-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is only one connected Instant Pot out there and that is the smart WiFi. I
recently saw somebody sold a brand-new Bluetooth model which was discontinued I
think almost 2 years ago, but I didn't buy it. The Smart WiFi is not sold in
Canada even though Instant Pot is a Canadian company, I have never been able to
get an answer out of them, but at this point I don't think I'd buy one even if
they offered it unless maybe it was on a super good deal. The regular price in
the US is I think $149.99, they often go on sale for 20% off and have been as
much as 40% off which is $89.99 US and I wouldn't be surprised if they are o
sale again for that price around Black Friday. But I'm so disappointed in the
company that I don't think I'll give them my money and in addition to that I
really enjoy cooking on the new GE connected range we bought, yes, it's maybe
not as automated, but I know how to boil an egg so it's soft without an Instant
Pot, we have a rice cooker and I wouldn't probably ever use the functions for
making yoghurt and stuff so maybe if I had bought one it would be one of these
gadgets which we'd use a bit in the beginning and then it would mostly just sit
around or be a glorified rice cooker.

Sieghard

I realize this topic has been discussed out here before, but I wasn’t paying
much attention at that time. I wonder if anybody on this list could recommend
an Instapot that interfaces with an iOS app well enough that a blind person
could program the cooking device effectively?
