 Hi Charlene,
I have been able to use List recorder to record phone calls. It
is not able to directly record but will work if you have your phone in
speaker mode. It can recored the sound coming out of the speaker and your
voice. It should be good enough to take notes from.

If you want to do that then you will need List Recorder full as the non full
version has only 10 second recordings until you do a in app purchase to make
it a Full version. Purchasing List Recorder Full saves you a dollar.

This is a recording and note taking app with strong organizational
 capability

This is how I use it to record a phone call.

I first start list recorder and place the focus in the list I want the
 recording to be placed.

I then press the home button to leave list recorder. Once the call is
started I move the phone away from my ear and then press the home button
twice to bring up the app switcher.
 I select list recorder.
 I then start a recording.
I continue the call in speaker phone mode so that List Recorder can record
the out put from the speaker and my responses.
You can leave the app and go back to the phone or into another app and it
will continue to record unless the new app takes over the microphone.
The List Recorder app is completely voiceOver accessible
as it was designed from the ground up with the blind user in mind.

RE: Looking for an app that records Phone calls

2014-01-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Charlene,

Since recording phone calls is illegal in many juristictions, Apple does not
allow it on the iPhone. Now, there are apps which claim they can do this and
I'm sure some of them can, but pretty much all of them that I have seen
require you to sign up with them (often they are not free) and you then have
to place what basically is a 3-way call with the third call going to their
servers where the call is then recorded. In other words, you call their
server, then you call your number and you merge the calls and it gets
recorded this way. If somebody calls you you would have to open the app and
ask the caller to hold a moment while you establish the recording session.

A much easier way to record phone calls is to use an app like Acrobits or
Groundwire (which is also from Acrobits). Groundwire is what they call their
business caliber SIP client and it costs $9.99. The regular Acrobits app
is I think $5.99. Both have a Record button. Of course you then have to sign
up for a VoIP service somewhere, this is easy for making calls since all you
have to do is sign up with a company like www.VoipStunt.com
http://www.VoipStunt.com , www.VoipBuster.com http://www.VoipBuster.com
, www.VoipCheap.com http://www.VoipCheap.com etc. There are literally
dozens of them, I use Voip Stunt, but most of them are similar. Voip Stunt
requires you to buy a credit, usually 10 Euros (they are a European company)
and then you get 120 days of free calls in North America and to about 40 or
so other countries. After that your calls are billed at about 1 Euro Cent a
minute.

If you also want to be able to receive calls via VoIP, you have to sign up
for an inbound number from a company like www.Flynumber.com
http://www.Flynumber.com and once again there are others out there. My
inbound phone number from Flynumber is $2.95 US a month and this includes
unlimited incoming minutes.

Alternatively, if you just need to record the occasional call, just put your
iPhone in speakerphone mode and use a separate tape or digital recorder to
record the calls by placing it next to your iPhone. I think that's a lot
less complicated and it works just fine.

Regards,

Sieghard

Re: Looking for an app that records Phone calls

2014-01-26 Thread Christopher Chaltain
One slight correction. Recording of phone calls is not illegal. I've
been on many a conference call, where it's announced the call is being
recorded and anyone who doesn't want to therefore participate is free to
drop from the call. Also, next time you call a customer service number,
I'll be surprised if you don't get the message that the call may be
recorded for quality purposes. What is illegal in some places is the
recording of a call where one or both parties is not aware the call is
being recorded. This is why some applications/devices used to record
calls introduces a beep to let all of the parties know the call is being
recorded. Check out the section on the US, or other countries, in this
Wikipedia article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_recording_laws#United_States

I am not sure why Apple doesn't allow for the recording of phone
conversations, but it may very well be to make it harder for people to
participate in illegal activities.
