Re: MBraille update bug question

2013-07-31 Thread Eileens Misrahi
Hello,
I am hoping that my post made it to the list last night. I am not having any
issues with this update in using the .calendar command and having my calendar
appointments inserted into the native calendar app. I gave 2 examples on how I
wrote the enteries. If you need further help, you can write me off list. There
is no need to edit what has been brailled on the phone. Remember, to use quotes
before and after your arguments. HTH.

I wanted to comment a little here on Eileen's comments. Here is what I do.

You have to enter quotes before and after the title, the start date and time,

I hope this helps a little bit.

Re: MBraille update bug question

2013-07-31 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hello,

Thanks for your answers.
I find that, when I enter the hyphens in the dates, they are being transformed
into hyphen followed by colon.
This also happens when I enter phone numbers.
Af After further testing here's what I found:

If contractions are off, I cannot enter hyphens in numbers. Anything following
the hyphen is treated like letters. I did reenter the number sign before the
figures after the hyphen.
With contractions on entering the number sign after the hyphen introduces an
additional colon that confuses the format.
However as you have helped me realise, with contractions on I can insert
hyphens without reentering the number sign and all is well in this case.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks again for your responses.

Ioana

Hi again,

Just thought I'd add a nuance about the need for quotes in the cal command. If
the title is only 1 word such as in the one shown in a previous message in
this topic quotes are not necessary.

Re: MBraille update bug question

2013-07-31 Thread Eileens Misrahi
Hi Again,
I want to explain about the numeric indicator. When beginning to use the
.calendar command, I would use a numeric indicator sign after the hyphen.
However, this is not the correct usage of the numeric indicator sign. The
numeric indicator sign is used at the beginning of a line. It is also used in
front of a number. However, if you use a hyphen in between a string of numbers
such as a date or a phone number, the numeric indicator sign is not used. If
you enter a space between the date and the time, you need to add the numeric
indicator first before brailleing the numbers. I hope this makes sense. HTH.

Re: MBraille update bug question

2013-07-31 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi again,

Thanks for this clariffication. I did get that but, as I stated in last
message, when contractions are off the letters after the hyphen are not treated
as numbers. Works fine with contracted Braille.

This appears to me to be a bug.

Best,

Ioana

Re: MBraille update bug question

2013-07-31 Thread RobH!
Further to these, Harry has poitned out a means of putting the entire
date/time in a single string, so avoiding quoting there too.

2013-08-01-18:00 is explicit and no quotation marks, and it works, I got a
useless calendar appointment on the strength of it.

Hi again,

Just thought I'd add a nuance about the need for quotes in the cal command.
If the title is only 1 word such as in the one shown in a previous message
in this topic quotes are not necessary.

Are you using the Australian voice, Karen, on your iPhone? If so, the grill
table being used is UEB. In that case, you need to type a number sign after
each hyphen or colon.

However, this is not the correct usage of the numeric indicator sign. The
numeric indicator sign is used at the beginning of a line. It is also used
in front of a number. However, if you use a hyphen in between a string of
numbers such as a date or a phone number, the numeric indicator sign is not
used. If you enter a space between the date and the time, you need to add
the numeric indicator first before brailleing the numbers. I hope this makes
 sense. HTH.

 Hi again,

Just thought I'd add a nuance about the need for quotes in the cal command.
If the title is only 1 word such as in the one shown in a previous message
in this topic quotes are not necessary.

 Best,

I wanted to comment a little here on Eileen's comments. Here is what I do.

 .cal test 07-31-13 9:00 AM 7-31-13 10:00 AM alarm 30 min

You have to enter quotes before and after the title, the start date and
time, and the end date and time.

I hope this helps a little bit.

 Hello,
I wanted to make sure that I was able to enter a calendar event before
responding. It would be helpful if you can give an example of how you are
writing the appointment with MBraille. I just made 2 enteries using
different date formats with a time and alarm. Here's what I used:
.calendar test 2013-07-31 09:00 alarm 15 min and .calendar test
07-31-13 09:00 alarm 1 hour I will not use any separations from here on
because it will activate the dot command. HTH. Eileen
