 Hi Rob,

I just filled out the petition as much to support it as to check it's
accessibility. It took me about 1 minute to fill in my name, email, address
and phone number. I wrote a few lines of text in the field Why is this
important to me although this field is optional. When I was done I clicked
the Sign link at the bottom and the website immediately came back and said
 Thanks for signing...
I did notice there is also a Submit button so I went back a second time
and filled it out again using a friend's name and my business address and
email. This time I tried th Submit button and it worked just as fast and
 with the same result.
In both cases I received an email shortly after thanking me for signing and
asking to forward the email to others.
Lastly I filled it out on my iPhone and it also worked fine.

Maybe for some reason the website had an issue when you tried to fill this
out, but I found no issues, the process was fully accessible, quick and
easy. When I did the first one 138 people had signed which is quite a jump
from the 23 you saw a few hours ago and when I went back 5 minutes later it
was up by another 10, now after I did the one on my iPhone it's up to 170.
This indicates it works for others as well.

 Regards,
 Sieghard

I think in the end, Samsung will find out that you can't put the geni back
into the bottle. Blind people have had a big taste of what accessibility
can be like for all when it's designed and built in from the ground up and
not just on specific models and all that aside, it's just the right thing to
do. Yamaha is taking their new digital keyboards touch screen and are
totally ignoring the protests of blind musicians. Amazing how one company
can be so thick headed and another making every effort to brake down the
accessibility barriers.

This is part of the on going patent battle between Samsung and Apple. I
doubt they thought too much about the impacts of including this patent
in their suit to the blind smart phone users out there. Their end game
is probably to get Apple to pay for the rights to use these patents or
reach a settlement with Apple to respect each others patents and end
this legal action between the two companies.

Besides, you have other smart phone options out there with free built in
screen readers, such as Android 4.0 and beyond and the phones running
that OS, such as several models from Samsung.

On 24/02/13 21:43, BBS wrote:

I also signed the petition. I think it's pretty stupid that Samsung is
trying to take away the thing that helps us get around. I mean, what do
they expect? Do they expect us to go back to phones and computers that
require 3rd party developers to make screen readers for us? I'm not
going back into that direction. I have a Mac and an iPhone and I'm not
giving up any of them just because Samsung doesn't like the fact that we
have a free screen reader already built in.

RE: OT: Change.Org Petition Samsung Attack On Vlind

2013-02-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi Rob,

I just filled out the petition as much to support it as to check it's
accessibility. It took me about 1 minute to fill in my name, email,
address
and phone number. I wrote a few lines of text in the field Why is this
important to me although this field is optional. When I was done I
clicked
the Sign link at the bottom and the website immediately came back and
said
Thanks for signing...
I did notice there is also a Submit button so I went back a second
time

and filled it out again using a friend's name and my business address and
email. This time I tried th Submit button and it worked just as fast
and

with the same result.
In both cases I received an email shortly after thanking me for signing
and
asking to forward the email to others.
Lastly I filled it out on my iPhone and it also worked fine.

Maybe for some reason the website had an issue when you tried to fill
this

out, but I found no issues, the process was fully accessible, quick and
easy. When I did the first one 138 people had signed which is quite a
jump

from the 23 you saw a few hours ago and when I went back 5 minutes later
it
was up by another 10, now after I did the one on my iPhone it's up to
170.

This indicates it works for others as well.

Regards,
Sieghard

I used a real town name, but it's not a city like I said, so it tossed
ito
ut. I've had this kind of thing in the appstore's feedback section, so
seldom waste time on those either.

Thanks both, RobH.

You can't leave the fields blank, but you can put n/a (n-slash-a) or
whatever you want in them. :) This is what I did for my street address.

This petition is crap, I filled it in, it refuses to go forward

I wasted 10 minutes on it, I'm not prepaired to waste any more. They
should really look at this kind of thing more closely if they want
subscribers to stick with it long enough to count. I note only 23 had
succeeded so far.

Hello All,

Some of you may have already seen this. I know its been tweeted out. I
posted a petition on Change .Org on Saturday. It is in reference to
Samsung trying to block sale of Apple products in Germany. Yes, I know
their is a temporary hold on the decision. I just want Samsung to know
the
attack on the blind community is a bad move. Not only financially, bug
for
PR reasons. It is your choice whether or not you

I also signed the petition. I think it's pretty stupid that Samsung is
trying to take away the thing that helps us get around. I mean, what do
they expect? Do they expect us to go back to phones and computers that
require 3rd party developers to make screen readers for us? I'm not
going back into that direction. I have a Mac and an iPhone and I'm not
giving up any of them just because Samsung doesn't like the fact that
we have a free screen reader already built in.

2013-02-24 Thread Christopher Chaltain
This is part of the on going patent battle between Samsung and Apple. I
doubt they thought too much about the impacts of including this patent
in their suit to the blind smart phone users out there. Their end game
is probably to get Apple to pay for the rights to use these patents or
reach a settlement with Apple to respect each others patents and end
this legal action between the two companies.

Besides, you have other smart phone options out there with free built in
screen readers, such as Android 4.0 and beyond and the phones running
that OS, such as several models from Samsung.
