RE: Should I buy an Iphone 8 now or wait for the potential of buying the new iPhone SE/9?

2020-03-28 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah I’ve gone from buying yearly to buying / upgrading every 2 years if I can
afford it,

So I don’t see myself upgrading to the 11s or 12 what evr it’s called this year
but then the way things are going I’ll more likely purchase what ever the lower
end of next years range is, like the 11 last year possibly the 12 or 13

Can’t see the point now in paying 2 thousand dollars when I can get the pretty
much same quality device for half the price

Sorry, but I don’t understand that constant urge many people have to get rid of
a high-end device which probably works absolutely perfectly well and in many
cases does a lot more than what people need just to buy the next high-end
device a year or year and a half later.
OK, maybe I qualify this by saying that once upon a time 8 or 10 years ago it
sometimes might have made sense when these devices were in their early stages
of development and often much larger advancements were made from one year to
the next. I also bought an iPhone 4S in 2011 just a year after I bought an
iPhone 4, but the 4S had SIRI which at the time was a big deal.
Every time you do this you loose hundreds of Dollars especially with an
expensive product such as the iPad Pro and often I have observed that some of
the people who do this are the ones who also mention how they really can’t
afford it. Now with COVID-19 the world is going into a huge recession which, in
the best case scenario, might be a short one as long as the virus is gotten
under control and a vaccine is found in the next 8 to 12 months, but I think if
there is a time when it’s necessary to save that is now. Sure, one could argue
that spending stimulates the economy, but even if Apple is hit hard by this for
a couple of years, they won’t be in any danger and can easily weather the
storm, if you want to spend money do so at small businesses or restaurants
locally as they are the ones who need the support most.
Now, just to wrap this up, please don’t think I am trying to tell you what to
do or that I actually disapprove. What I said above is simply an opinion and
you can of course proceed as you see fit and, in any case, I only used your
situation as an example, but I really did mean to include all who constantly
upgrade to the latest device each year just for the sake of having the latest
and not because their device from a year or two ago doesn’t work any more.

Best regards and stay safe,
Sieghard

I just read an article on the new iPad pros and how they’re so easy to break,

The thing is anythings easy to break if you try hard enough.

And besides if I can’t get rid of my 2018 11” pro ipad then I wont be getting a
newer one for a while.

I suspect it will be announced Tuesday via press release. Everything has been
announced on or before schedule. They can still ship and that is how you will
get your new phone. I saw a forbs article that there will be a IOS 13.4.1 to

Hi all,

I would love to buy the much talked about iPhone SE/9 if it is even still
eventually coming out.

But, I do not want to wait more than one to two months so I am also considering
the regular iPhone 8.

So, this leads me to 2 questions.

Does anyone know how much longer the new iPhone 8’s might still be available?

Does any one know if the iPhone SE/9 will be out in a month or two. Or, has
the SE been cancelled.

Thanks for any links or information.

So if the 11 and the xr are to big then try looking at the 11 pro,

Problem there though is the price goes up but the size goes down.

Interesting what people think though,
I didn't think the 11 was that large and after a while the 11 pro max isn't
either.

For me, my 8 is the perfect size. I can easily put it in my pants pocket and
listen to a book with a pair of bluetooth headphones on. I hope the new iPhone
9 would have as much internal memory around 256 gigs like I got on my iPhone 8.
If I didn't download so many bard books I'd have a lot more free space lol.

This isn't correct. If you turn automatic updates off and at setup tell it to
update manually you should be able to avoid it.

The risk you run with waiting if Apple discontinues the iPhone 8 once the 9
comes out and you decide you rather the 8 you might or might not be able to

Sorry. If you purchase a new iPhone 8, it will have the latest update,
unless you purchase it, from someone who hasn't updated their phone.

and if that is the case, then when you set up the phone, with your account,
then you will have to update.

The advantage to the 8 is I believe it comes with iOS 12 and if you

on the 9 is rumored to be 64 and 128 same as the 8. So if you want an

At this stage if you buy a new iPhone 8 it is extremely likely that it will
have iOS 13 preinstalled. Back in November or December maybe you could have
found phones which had been in stores for a while and which still had iOS 12,
but any new iPhone 8 models which are manufactured now are preinstalled with
Apple's latest version of iOS because Apple wants as many people as possible to
be on the latest version of iOS. It may not have iOS 13.4 on it, but it will in
all likelihood have a version of iOS 13.

The risk you run with waiting if Apple discontinues the iPhone 8 once the 9
comes out and you decide you rather the 8 you might or might not be able to
get it.

Subject: Should I buy an Iphone 8 now or wait for the potential of buying the
new iPhone SE/9?

This isn't correct. If you turn automatic updates off and at setup tell it to
update manually you should be able to avoid it.

I will try to wait for the new iPhone 9. But, I would rather have IOS 12 if I

One factor for delaying the SE 9, if there is such a thing is all of the

I’m sure I want the iPhone SE/9. The problem is” is the 9 still coming out.

The risk as I see it, is just that the 8 may be discontinued and the SE/9 may
be cancelled.

listen to a book with a pair of bluetooth headphones on. I hope the new iPhone
9 would have as much internal memory around 256 gigs like I got on my iPhone 8.
If I didn't download so many bard books I'd have a lot more free space lol.

I will try to wait for the new iPhone 9. But, I would rather have IOS 12 if

The advantage to the 8 is I believe it comes with iOS 12 and if you find
iOS 13 buggy you don't have to upgrade it. also the storage size on the 9
is rumored to be 64 and 128 same as the 8. So if you want an 8 grab one
now.

Yes I’d wait and see what happens,

If you can’t wait then the xr or 11 would be the next choice from the 9 /
se2 as the 8 is now coming up 2 years old.

Thank you.

I can wait six weeks. Its just I wish Apple would let us know something.
I
can be patient. Just wish Apple wouldn’t leave all of us in the dark.

I know over a dozen people who are waiting for the new SE/9.

If I were in your position I would give it until the middle of May to see
if
there's any announcements about when this new phone might be available. If
everything I've red is true, Apple might want to get this out there as
soon
as possible if they have projections of selling a certain amount of units
by
the end of the year.

The advantage to the 8 is I believe it comes with iOS 12 and if you find iOS
13 buggy you don't have to upgrade it. also the storage size on the 9 is
rumored to be 64 and 128 same as the 8. So if you want an 8 grab one now.

For me, my 8 is the perfect size. I can easily put it in my pants pocket
and listen to a book with a pair of bluetooth headphones on. I hope the new
iPhone 9 would have as much internal memory around 256 gigs like I got on my
iPhone 8. If I didn't download so many bard books I'd have a lot more free
space lol.

Neither is the 9/ se2 I believe.

2020-03-27 Thread bentleyj1952
I’m sure I want the iPhone SE/9. The problem is” is the 9 still coming out.

The risk as I see it, is just that the 8 may be discontinued and the SE/9 may
be cancelled.

comes out and you decide you rather the 8 you might or might not be able to

Or, has

Thanks for any links or information.

Do you happen to know if the iPhone 8 will upgrade to IOS 13 and 14?

The advantage to the 8 is I believe it comes with iOS 12 and if you find iOS 13
buggy you don't have to upgrade it. also the storage size on the 9 is rumored
to be 64 and 128 same as the 8. So if you want an 8 grab one now.

For me, my 8 is the perfect size. I can easily put it in my pants pocket and
listen to a book with a pair of bluetooth headphones on. I hope the new iPhone
9 would have as much internal memory around 256 gigs like I got on my iPhone 8.
If I didn't download so many bard books I'd have a lot more free space lol.

2020-03-27 Thread Dennis Long
The risk you run with waiting if Apple discontinues the iPhone 8 once the 9
comes out and you decide you rather the 8 you might or might not be able to
get it.

new iPhone SE/9?

Yeah, I'm 67 years old and it blows me away that a person can have thousands
and thousands of books in their pocket. And, the phone being able to fit in my
pocket for me, will be about the number one requirement when I purchase my next
phone.

It is my understanding that the current iPhone 8 has a 4.7 inch screen and is
currently the smallest phone that Apple makes.

It is also my understanding that the new iPhone SE or, 9, what ever it will be
called, is the same size as the 8.

I prefer a new phone so if I am correct, I will just wait.

Ok, Do you realise that the 8 isn’t one of the smaller form factor phones like
the SE1 is?

Neither is the 9/ se2 I believe.

Yes I’d wait and see what happens,

If you can’t wait then the xr or 11 would be the next choice from the 9 / se2

2020-03-27 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
For me, my 8 is the perfect size. I can easily put it in my pants
pocket and listen to a book with a pair of bluetooth headphones on. I
hope the new iPhone 9 would have as much internal memory around 256
gigs like I got on my iPhone 8. If I didn't download so many bard
books I'd have a lot more free space lol.

RE: Should I buy an Iphone 8 now or wait for the potential of buying the new iPhone SE/9?

2020-03-27 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yes I’d wait and see what happens,

If you can’t wait then the xr or 11 would be the next choice from the 9 / se2
as the 8 is now coming up 2 years old.

Thank you.

I can wait six weeks. Its just I wish Apple would let us know something. I
can be patient. Just wish Apple wouldn’t leave all of us in the dark.

I know over a dozen people who are waiting for the new SE/9.

If I were in your position I would give it until the middle of May to see if
there's any announcements about when this new phone might be available. If
everything I've red is true, Apple might want to get this out there as soon as
possible if they have projections of selling a certain amount of units by the
end of the year.

Hi all,

But, I do not want to wait more than one to two months so I am also considering
the regular iPhone 8.

So, this leads me to 2 questions.

Does anyone know how much longer the new iPhone 8’s might still be available?

Does any one know if the iPhone SE/9 will be out in a month or two. Or, has
the SE been cancelled.

Thanks for any links or information.

RE: Should I buy an Iphone 8 now or wait for the potential of buying the new iPhone SE/9?

2020-03-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I would definitely wait, buying an iPhone 8 is probably not the best choice at
this time given it will be 3 years old this year.
I’m pretty sure Apple will have something to say in the next 3-4 weeks.
