hi, everyone, I am having trouble keeping direct touch added to
the rotor. Everything else I want is in there, but for some
reason it does not stay there. I don't know what I am doing
wrong. I didn't think there was a save button or anything. I
would appreciate your enlightening me. Thanks a bunch. Esther

Direct touch can indeed be added or removed from the rotor.
On my iPhone 12 pro, running iOS 14.4.2, direct touch is the last
item in the rotor category. I am able to toggle it on or off as desired.

I can't see how Direct Touch would be good for someone totally blind, but
possibly people with partial sight might prefer it.

Maybe I've never seen anything about direct touch since I usually just type in
text edit boxes. Direct touch seems like it wouldn't be good for a blind
person to use and wouldn't be of much help to us.

RE: adding direct touch to the rotor

2021-04-05 Thread Richard Turner
Do you have the accessibility shortcut set to triple tap the home button or
side switch to turn VoiceOver on or off?
If so, start the game, and turn off VoiceOver.

If not, tell Siri to turn off VoiceOver, then tell Siri Goodbye so it gets off
the screen and you are in your game.

RE: adding direct touch to the rotor

2021-04-05 Thread Richard Turner
I don’t use much of the blindfold games, the one I use doesn’t involve any text
entry.
Is this game self-voicing? If so, Unload VoiceOver.

If not, then Direct Touch should show up in the rotor and you can turn the
rotor to it and flick up and then turn the rotor away from that so you don’t
toggle it back off and you are supposed to be able to continue with the game.
If not, you absolutely need to contact both the developer and Apple
Accessibility.

*Subject:*adding direct touch to the rotor

hi, everyone, I am having trouble keeping direct touch added
to the rotor. Everything else I want is in there, but for some
reason it does not stay there. I don't know what I am doing
wrong. I didn't think there was a save button or anything. I
would appreciate your enlightening me. Thanks a bunch. Esther

Hi Esther I take it from reading posts below this that when you get to
direct touch in the rota if it is on you double tapp to turn it off and
vice versa.  hope that helps a bit Janet

Re: adding direct touch to the rotor

2021-04-05 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Maybe I've never seen anything about direct touch since I usually just
type in text edit boxes. Direct touch seems like it wouldn't be good
for a blind person to use and wouldn't be of much help to us.

What I find interesting about that rotor item, now that you reminded me it was
there, it was selected on my rotor items, but it does not show up in the rotor
unless you are using an app that does not use the standard text entry.
But in iOS 14.4.x apple fixed it so you just ignore VoiceOver when it says
Direct Touch Area and keep typing.
I have never found a need to turn the rotor when VoiceOver Says Direct Touch
area. Things just work.

Do you have an example where you have turned the rotor to Direct Touch in iOS
1.4.4?

hi, everyone, I am having trouble keeping direct touch added to the rotor.
Everything else I want is in there, but for some reason it does not stay there.
I don't know what I am doing wrong. I didn't think there was a save button or
anything. I would appreciate your enlightening me. Thanks a bunch. Esther
