RE: any neato users out there?

2016-09-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Rich,

You said you want to make sure " all the set up that might be required can be
done with sight". I assume you mean "without sight"?
Anyhow, I don't have a Neato but followed the threads about it since I probably
will purchase one at some point and according to Sandy who was the first one to
buy it you need sighted help to connect it to your WiFi the first time. After
that I believe everything is pretty accessible.

Regards,
Sieghard

hi,
I know it's not strictly on topic, but…
I am going to be leaving my neato alone for 4/5 weeks and he won't be doing
any work during that time, does anyone know best practice with regard to
battery protocols? should, sample, I leave it on the dock with the battery
switch off? any info gratefully received!
Thanks, Sandy

I would really appreciate it if a Neato user would write me off list. We are
considering purchasing one but we want to make certain that all the set up that
might be required can be done with sight. Thanks!

2016-09-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This used to be the case, but with new Lithium Ion batteries keeping them
connected will not harm them since they don’t get charged unless the voltage
drops at which point a small charge is applied to top off the battery before
the charger once again is turned off.

Hi,

According to the Neato Robotics web site, if you're not going to be using the
vacuum for an extended period, you should make sure the battery is fully
charged, disconnect the battery and stor the vacuum in a cool dry place.
Before using the vacuum after it's done hibernating, reconnect the battery and
make sure it's fully charged before using it for the first time.

You can, but if you want just a model where you push a switch to get it going
you might as well buy one of their more basic models which are just over half
the cost of the newest connected model.

RE: any neato users out there?

2016-09-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Sandra,

If it has a Lithium Ion battery which is likely, you can leave it on the
charger without damaging the battery. Here is a piece from an article on the
BatteryUniversity.com website:

The question is asked, “Should I disconnect my laptop from the power grid when
not in use?”
Under normal circumstances this should not be necessary because charging stops
when the Li-ion battery is full. A topping charge is only applied when the
battery voltage drops to a certain level.
Most users do not remove the AC power, and this practice is safe.

Sieghard

RE: any neato users out there?

2016-09-04 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Actually, It’s not a good idea to keep any item on a charger for a long time.

Cheers.

HTH,

Dan

Hi Sandra,

I have left mine on the dock for months without a problem. The battery is
still fine.

Take care,
Lois

Subject: any neato users out there?

hi,
I know it's not strictly on topic, but…
I am going to be leaving my neato alone for 4/5 weeks and he won't be doing
any work during that time, does anyone know best practice with regard to
battery protocols? should, sample, I leave it on the dock with the battery
switch off? any info gratefully received!

Thanks, Sandy
