I think you would need too actually sign up for another Dropbox account.  If you do that, you wouldn’t be able to access any of your files since it is a separate account. Re: Drop Box

2020-12-18 Thread Dave Clement
Hello,

I think you need to have the Dropbox app on your phone along with VDR. Once you
sign in to your Dropbox account using the app, it is the Dropbox app that will
actually open your files that are in Dropbox. Then, you use the VDR app and its
Dropbox option to import files from Dropbox into the VDR app.

Good luck,

Note that you don't actually have to do this. You can just download one file of
the book at a time using Voice Dream Reader. It does make it pretty convenient,
though, to have the files zipped up into one file to download. Are usually just
download one file at a time when they're quite large, say 30 minutes or more,
and don't bother with zipping up the files in this case.

Voice Dream Reader is an excelent app, and I highly recommend it!

Thanks,

You can definitely read them with voice dream reader but you should zip up the
multiple mp3 files which comprise the book into one file which you put in your
Dropbox folder. Make sure the files are named so that they sort in the correct
reading order.

Good luck.

Hi,

I posted this question previously. If someone could please help, I would
appreciate it very much.

I would like to transfer my recipes and knitting patterns from my windows

able to just slide my finger down the left edge and read down line-by-line.
It doesn't seem to be working very well at all. Should I save the documents
in txt instead of msword?

Thank you in advance,

RE: Drop Box

2015-12-04 Thread Joe
Are there any steps to read Word files? I agree plain text is great, but if
people are sending us documents in Word, it'd be nice to be able to read line
by line without doing a Read All gesture each time. Thanks for any input.

I would certainly do a SaveAs and save to plain text for this. They should
open in the Notes app, and work how you want. I keep nearly everything in
plain text since DOS days.

Subject: Drop Box

Hi,

I posted this question previously. If someone could please help, I would
appreciate it very much.

I would like to transfer my recipes and knitting patterns from my windows
computer to Drop Box. I saved the documents in msword. I was hoping to be
able to just slide my finger down the left edge and read down line-by-line.
It doesn't seem to be working very well at all. Should I save the documents
in txt instead of msword?

Thank you in advance,

Lynda

Re: Drop Box and music

2015-09-18 Thread candyrlowe
If you put the songs in your dropbox, then add the ones you want to play
offline to your favorites. Then when they are in your favorites, you are not
using WiFi or data. They are in your phone. Remember however, then you have
to have space in your phone for those in your favorites.

RE: Drop Box and music

Another option is to make a music folder, zip it, put it in Dropbox, and play
it with Voice Dream Reader.
Voice Dream Reader works well for making and playing a music folder with
Dropbox.

I use dropbox for all of my music. Download the app called cloudbeats. It
costs a couple of dollars, I don't remember exactly how much, but, this will
definitely accomplish what you want. After you download it, if you have any
questions, contact me off list. I will be glad to help you. This is the only
way that I manage my music because I am not good with iTunes.

RE: Drop Box and music

2015-09-16 Thread R Van Lant
Before I start loading music files onto my phone, is there a reason you are
using Dropbox over loading them through ITunes? Just curious as a novice.

Hi All,

I put a music folder in drop box with a few songs in it thinking that I could
use drop box to stream the music on our devices. When I opened the folder on
my iPhone and tapped on the first song in the folder it played fine using the
little player that came up. When the song was over, I waited to see if it
would play the next song but it didn’t. This was a good idea, but it isn’t
going to work if I have to start each song one at a timeL

Anyone have any ideas or know of a way around this?

Thx –Steve

Documents Pro will let you edit documents in dropbox or create new ones. I
don't remember if it was paid or free however, I have a gut feeling it's

Re: drop box

2014-10-22 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi Anna,

I just took a look, and this Dropbox feature works just as you've described
it. Try loading a txt, rtf, doc, and other such text related files and
reading each of them using the thumb nail full setting--it will not show
when turned on--it is a toggle. If the file shows, simply read the screen
line by line until you reach the text portion of the file, and you can now
navigate normally using left and right swipes or swiping down line by line
via rotor Line setting.

Try placing your text file on the same level as your folders within main
Dropbox folder on your computer.

Re: drop box

2014-10-22 Thread Anna Byrne

Hi, Joseph,

Thanks for the reply. when you say try loading, do you just mean
double tapping on a file in the list that dropbox displays? the
.docx file is almost readable when the action item says thumbnail,
but not when it says full. go figure! If I touch the screen it
reads a line, but I can't reliably get to the next line. If I just
touch the screen it might or might not read a line, and that one
might or might not be the next line in the document.

Yesterday it gave me an 'open in' choice, but the only choice was
Prizmo, and the text was totally garbled. I don't mind purchasing
Voice Dream Reader if that's what it takes, but if I could offer my
student a free way to access her files that would be better.

Hi Brandon,

From my cursory look within various screens, it doesn't appear as though
there is a file editing feature within Dropbox.

I will add that you can install AccessNote for free then go into Settings
and configure it to show your Dropbox files. You can now use AccessNote to
edit your text files saved on your Dropbox account. AccessNote is made by
AFB, so it is very blind friendly--especially if you will be using a
Bluetooth keyboard.

2014-10-22 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Yes, I do mean to give that Dropbox main-screen loading procedure a try.

I tried it with a text file, and once I double-tapped on it from the main
Dropbox screen, the file opened on another screen--I was not asked to import
anything or convert to any file type. I then navigated to the body of the
file and began reading using regular reading commands including by
character, word, or line.

At 08:22 PM 10/22/2014, you wrote:

I installed 'dropbox for iPhone' from the store. It sees my files,
but doesn't give me a good way to read them. Sometimes, for a reason
I don't understand and can't duplicate, it does read the file, flying
through the whole thing without stopping for breath. there is a
button that toggles between thumbnail and full something, but it
doesn't seem to make a difference. I have an .rtf and a .docx that I
would like to be able to read. Help says Dropbox reads those, but I
don't see what to trigger in order to do it.

Any clues would be pounced upon.

Much thanks,

Re: Drop box for the iPhone

2014-09-04 Thread Bill Gallik
From what you've written in your initial e-mail in this thread, I'm
presuming that you do not have a PC so what I'm about to write may not be
specifically pertinent to your situation.

But, I've found that the DropBox app is extremely accessible and has allowed
me to more efficiently the DropBox protocols with my PC.

What I mean is that with Windows Vista, IE 9 and JAWS 10 I'm severely
limited on my PC as to how much I could do with DropBox. I have difficulty
sharing files and folders with acquaintances using the PC interface;
however, using the DropBox app on my iPhone I've been able to make full use
of the features.

And, yes, files can be downloaded on to my iPhone; the trick is to be sure
that you have an app (program) that can deal with the file format.

Hello everyone, and thank you for reading.

I would like to know, can drop box being used on the iPhone?
If so, how accessible is this application? Can you download files onto your
phone, using this application?

Any answers, or thoughts on these questions, would be very much appreciated.
I have realized that I was wrong about hey send space application. What I
ended up downloading a few days ago, was not first in space. I guess that
one time there was a send space application. But there doesn't seem to be
one now. That was confusing to me.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me so far. I really appreciate it. It
means a lot to me. I have been without a computer for sometime now, and it
is getting old! I can't do everything on my phone, like I would like to do.
This has definitely been a learning experience for me. I have learned a lot
about my iPhone, and how to use it. This, I am grateful for.
However, I miss my music, and my books, and my movies and TV shows. I want
to enjoy those again. Even if I have limited space on my phone. I hope that
makes sense.

The only thing I don't like about the latest version of the Dropbox software
is in the previous version if you had an audio book in mp3 format, you just
started the first file in the book and it would automatically play until you
stopped it. You can't do that any more. It was nice to have the audio book
on your home computer dropbox and just listen to it on your iPhone or iPad.

Hey, cool! I'll definitely be checking that out! Does this just applied to doc
files? The reason I ask is that I have a lot of RTF files, and I'd like to be
able to do the same things with them as you can with doc files. If that doesn't
work, though, it looks like I might have to do some converting.

Thanks,

The recent app update to Dropbox make it more accessible when reading
Word documents in iOS. I use it to read the song lyrics for the weekly
hymns at church, where a church contact person will put the text file
in a shared folder. Later in the week, I will open that file in Word
and convert it and fix it up so I can read it on my Focus 14 Braille
display. I noticed last weekend that pages are now defined within the
document, where they were not defined before. This has made getting
around in a document that has between 7-10 pages a lot easier. Another
change that I was glad to see was that Dropbox remembers where you
left off in a document. Some weeks the hymns files can be around 10
pages, which can make finding the last or next to the last hymn a
little challenging. Now though, if I switch to another app or go to
the status bar, my focus is put right where I left off at when I
switch back to the open Dropbox file.

The files aren't normally stored on your phone, so that they don't take up
too much space. However, if you add a file to your Favorites, it is copied
from Dropbox onto your phone. You can also use the Share option in most apps
to send files to Dropbox if you want them to be available to other devices,

Any answers, or thoughts on these questions, would be very much

Thank you to everyone who has helped me so far. I really appreciate it. It

Voice Dream Reader is very good for listening to music and excellent for

Tom is correct, apps on the iPhone are very limited as to how they can
access data and it is not possible to put music onto your iPhone via Dropbox
yet have it outside the Dropbox folder structure.

I would recommend that you add the music to your iTunes music library and
you can of course move it out of Dropbox and copy it into the Music folder
which is a subfolder of iTunes Media. Once you have done that and added it
to your iTunes Music library you can connect your iPhone to the computer,
find it under devices and after checking the Music radio button you can
select how you want to sync your music. Primarily you choose between syncing
your entire music library or, if that is too much to fit on your phone,
select to sync selected playlists, artists, albums and genres.
I prefer to sync by artist so I then tab until I get to the artist list view
where I can then arrow through an alphabetical list of all the artists I
have and check the ones I want to sync by pressing the space bar. When I am
done I tab to the Sync button and the music is copied to my phone.

If this is all new to you I recommend that you listen to Jonathan Mosen's
2-series on using iTunes 11 with Jaws 14 which are the FS Casts for December
2012 and January 2013 at www.FreedomScientific.com/FSCast.
If you are a Mac user this of course may not be the best podcast to listen
to.

Re: drop box problem

2014-01-15 Thread Cheryl Homiak
You might need to give it some time to upload and show in dropbox on your
phone. But also remember that in order to then do anything with it you need to
be putting the zip file on dropbox. This is probably what you are doing but I
am just covering the bases. But there wouldn't be any reason why a NLS file
wouldn't show up in dropbox just like any other file as far as I know. I have
successfully done this and have transfered several files to the Bard Mobile app
with this method. Maybe there is a problem I'm not remembering that somebody
else will point out. As long as you are signed in to dropbox I don't think
unlinking and re-linking will usually aid in the process though there could be
instances where this is helpful of which I am not aware.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper

Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!

This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;

Let me ask you this, why would you want to log out? If you are concerned
about people accessing your files you can go into the Dropbox settings and
set a passcode for the app.

Re: Drop box, iCloud and iTunes Match: is having all of this redundant?

2013-03-02 Thread David Chittenden
Everything you have currently is fine. DropBox will give you a little more free
space when you start using it to share photos, but iCloud doesn't charge you
space for iCloud photo sync. The things you have backed up in iCloud are backed
up.

My set up is similar, although I also use iTunes for manual wired back-ups of
my iPhone. I always prefer redundancy. You never know what can go wrong / fail.
For that matter, I have two external hard drives that I back my Mac up on every
other week per drive.

I purchased cloud space a few months ago, thinking it a good place to store
photos and files. I also have iTunes Match to share music between my phone

weekend we were visiting my parents and I had my entire older of recipes that
I have downloaded with me when we cooked dinner for my parents. Pretty cool!)

Anyway, is having all of this redundant? I don’t want to cancel iCloud until
I know it’s ok to do so. The things I know want to do at this point are:
 1. Sync files etween computers (that’s Drop Box and it’s working fine)
 2. Share music between my iPhone and my husband’s iPod (that’s iTunes
 Match and it’s working fine)
 3. Back up my apps and other phone programs (that’s iCloud and Ii
suppose it’s working fine, but who really knows?)
 4. Store my husband’s 1,500 or so photos so they don’t need to take up
space on our idevices; those photos are currently on our PC and in iCloud.
Is drop box good for that or do I then get into having to buy space from Drop
 Box?
And who knows what else I will want to do soon that I don’t know about yet?
 I’d appreciate some insight.

Hi,

Since these are IMAP or exchange accounts being you were able to make a new

Re: drop box and mail

2012-06-28 Thread Ricardo Walker
Ah!

I see. These rules /folders are only contained to Apple Mail on your Mac then.
As far as I know, there is no way you can sink these with dropbox. You need
to set up folders and rules in your IMAP or exchange account, mor than likely
on the web, to have your folders synced across all computers and devices.
