RE: external iphone 5 batteries

2013-07-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Andrew,

I am in Canada and I bought the MyCharge Peak 6000 at a Future Shop for
$99, it is definitely expensive compared to the Incredicharge I-10 which
actually has more Milliamps, but it was actually sort of an impulse buy, but
since it has the spoken battery level I am not regretting it. Anyhow, what
I want to say is that I don't know where in the States you might find this,
but I just had a quick look at the Incredicharge website and they do list
i...@incredicharge.com as an email address so you could write to them and
ask although by the time you get a reply you could probably order it on
Amazon and have it shipped to you. Alternately, there is a live chat link at
the very bottom of the Incredicharge website, but it said that no staff was
online right now, I guess you might have to try that during business hours
and that way you might be able to ask and get an answer right away.

Sieghard

Hi Siegard,
Thanks heaps for your recommendations, I'll look these up. Do you know if
any of these like the incredicharge for example can be bought in an actual
store rather than online, I'm going overseas in a few weeks and prefer to
grab something from a store rather than wait for something to be sent.

Hi Andrew,

There are many, many of these things out there. The MyCharge line of
batteries is very good although the new models I think lack one of the nice
features of the older ones which announced the battery level at the push of
a button.

Anyhow, you only mention the Incredicharge brand as a whole and no specific
models. I had a quick look on Amazon and they do have quite a few models and
some of them like the I-10 definitely mentions the iPhone 5 although it
shouldn't really matter all that much. Most of these batteries have a USB
plug just like on a computer or a USB wall charger so you just plug in your
iPhone 5 Lightning cable and all should be fine. One thing reviewers mention
is that you seem to get a fairly good product for a relatively low price.
Another well-known brand is Mophie and between MyCharge, Incredicharge and
Mophie I am sure you can find something that works for you, I would just
look this up on Amazon and go by rating and reviews. Here is a link for the
IncreditchargeI-10 model on Amazon which has 10,400 MA, that is a high
capacity and you should be able to charge your phone at least 4 maybe 5
times on that. Keep in mind that the larger the capacity the larger the
battery, this one apparently is about the size of 2 iPhone 4S on top of each
other. The I-10 has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 and that is certainly very
good:

Wow, thanks for this seriously. I couldn't sleep so was goofing around on
Amazon when this came in.

I just got the incredicharge you talked about for $26.99 and free 2 day
shipping with my Amazon prime. WooHoo! Go Amazon Prime and Sieghard.

I was considering the My charge but they're taking away the speech output in
the next model anyway, and this Incredicharge does everything I need and
probably more and has good reviews so far. I like that I can charge more
than one thing at a time, which means my phone and my Aftershokx can charge
at the same time.

Here's the link from Amazon for anyone interested:

Hi Andrew,

Most of the batry pack you can't get it internally in Australia. I
believe you can get the Mophie Juice pack, but that is all that i know
that is available in Australia.

I have one of the NewTrent External pack, but its pretty heavy as it
has 2 baterries on it. However, you can't get it from Amazon, they
won't deliver to overseas. I got it from someone thru Amazon UK.

good luck

RE: external iphone 5 batteries

2013-07-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Eric,

You can get the Mophie Helium on Amazon for about $72. However, based on the
rating of 2.8 out of 5 and quite a few not very good reviews I would not buy
this case. Some of the issues people describe are confirmed by some and
reputed by others, but overall it seems the tone of the reviews is that this
is not necessarily up to snuff with Mophie's past reputation. Also, at 1500
MA capacity and the iPhone 5 having a capacity of 1445 MA there is no way
you triple your battery life. It even says right in the product specs 80%
more battery life to keep your iPhone 5 safe and charged and based on my
experience with several battery packs 1500 MA should be enough to get it
from 20% back up to maybe 90% or even close o 100%. I have a MyCharge Peak
6000 which has 6000 MA or 4 times the capacity of the Heliumm and I get
almost 3 full charges if I start to recharge at 20%.

Another drawback mentioned with the Mophie Helium is the fact that you have
to take the phone out of the case if you want to use the Lightning port to
connect the phone maybe to a dock or even to iTunes with the Lightning
cable.

Sieghard

I like the Mophie Juice Pack Helium. It adds about a half inch to the length
of the phone and protects the back and sides, but not the front. It adds
very little weight, but triples the battery life, approximately. It does
sell for around $90, however.

Re: external iphone 5 batteries

2013-07-19 Thread SSEric
Those are very valid points. I have never objectively measured how much time I
get, so three times the battery life was just a rough estimate.

It is true that the helium does use a micro USB charge. Therefore you have to
use a micro USB cord if you leave it in the case and want to charge or transfer
information. Another drawback is you have to use a short adapter for audio.
When you do this, you eliminate the ability to use the microphone or in-line
controls of your microphone. They need to fix that.

Re: external iphone 5 batteries

2013-07-19 Thread Arianna
I got a Mutrent iCarrier quite a while ago, and I really like it. I got it on
Amazon for about 83 bucks. It serves me very well so far. It's not a battery
case, but it fits pretty well in most of the back pockets of my jeans, and
they're pretty small, being women's jeans.

Those are very valid points. I have never objectively measured how much time
I get, so three times the battery life was just a rough estimate.

It is true that the helium does use a micro USB charge. Therefore you have to
use a micro USB cord if you leave it in the case and want to charge or
transfer information. Another drawback is you have to use a short adapter for
audio. When you do this, you eliminate the ability to use the microphone or
in-line controls of your microphone. They need to fix that.

Another drawback mentioned with the Mophie Helium is the fact that you have
to take the phone out of the case if you want to use the Lightning port to
connect the phone maybe to a dock or even to iTunes with the Lightning
 cable.

I like the Mophie Juice Pack Helium. It adds about a half inch to the length
of the phone and protects the back and sides, but not the front. It adds
very little weight, but triples the battery life, approximately. It does
 sell for around $90, however.

RE: external iphone 5 batteries

2013-07-19 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Siegard,
Thanks heaps for your recommendations, I'll look these up.

Keep in mind that the larger the capacity the larger the
battery, this one apparently is about the size of 2 iPhone 4S on top of each
other. The I-10 has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 and that is certainly very
good:
