Marty, Sounds like something got turned on, either by you or with an IOS update, in Location services. You can find these settings by going to settings, privacy, Location Services & first make sure that none of the listed apps are always tracking you. If so, just tap on the name of the app to change how you want to be tracked. If none, swipe down to System Services & turn off those items that you don't need/want on. Region Tracking
Hello, Lately, I have noticed something strange in my status bar on my iPhone 8. It says "Region tracking on, image send" and there is a little beep sound I hear as I swipe the right through the items on the status bar. Can anyone please tell me what this is and why it is there? Region tracking is used by some apps which control home automation devices such as lights, locks etc. and it allows you to set up automations for “When I get Home” or “When I leave”. It is also used for location based reminders. If you don’t have specific apps which might use it and don’t care about location based reminders then go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System (at the very bottom) and turn off location based reminders. Battery life and Region tracking on
List, running IOS 11.1.1 on a IPhone 5s. I have really seen a drop in battery life. I have turned brightness down to 10%. I have blue tooth turned off but WIFI is on. I note that "region tracking" is on. Since I stay mainly in southwest Florida, do I need this item on? And exactly what does this item do? Any other ideas on boosting battery life would be appreciated. I am planning on getting a new IPhone 8 Plus, but not quite now. Thanks in advance for any help.
