Re: [EXTERNAL] Resetting a 6 S

2018-12-17 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi everyone,

I strongly recommend turning off iCloud Keychain on your phone before resetting
network settings. I didn't do this once, and information about all the Wi-Fi
networks I had joined was deleted from my phone, iPad, and Mac. If you only
connect to one network and only have one Apple device, this isn't a big deal,
but I connect to my mom's network occasionally, my husband's work network, my
temple's network, and my in-laws' network, and it was tedious re-entering all
those passwords. I checked with Apple recently, and they confirmed that this
can still happen.

Best,
Anna

2018-12-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Keith,

I might not be Anna, but I can answer your question. No, you don't have to turn
off iOS Keychain, but what Anna meant to say is that if you first turn it off,
then do reset network settings and then turn it back on that it should then
remember your WiFi password so that when you connect to your WiFi again you
don't have to enter it. I am not sure if your iPhone's name is also reset to
what it was before. I did think about this some more and decided that for me
having to enter my WiFi password is not really a big deal, after all, by the
time I go into the Settings under my Apple Id, iCloud and Keychain and turn it
off and then repeat I can easily enter my WiFi password or, in my case, I just
ask my wife to hold her phone close and she then gets the request to share it
with me.

Hi Anna,

Can I please just confirm? I understand your comment below to mean that if I do
a Reset of Network Settings, that I must first turn off iOS Keychain. Is that
right? I think I have done a reset of network settings without doing this, and
all seemed good with iOS keychain. But, I just can’t remember for sure that I
have done this reset since activating keychain.

Thanks for any clarification.
