It would be interesting to hear what you could find out with sound compare ng
the SE and the 11.

Well, I have my work iPhone 8 plus, and the new iPhone SE side by side.
I played the same song on each and went back and forth. Actually with three
songs.
Away in the Manger and joy to the world by Judy Collins and If I Only Had A
Brain by Natalie Merchant.
The difference, if there really is one, is minor.
To my ears, the SE may have a little more open sound, but that might be just
that it has a smaller body. The 8 plus is about 3/4 of an inch longer and
about a half inch wider.
Sound is so subjective, that it is difficult to describe.
I had my wife listen and her description was that the SE sounds wider while
the 8 plus is a little closed or compressed.
They both have stereo speakers...

I suspect an XR or an 11 might sound better than either of these but I have not
had much experience other than hearing VoiceOver on a client's phone.
I will be getting a new work iPhone 11 in a couple of weeks.
If you would like, I could do a similar comparison between the SE and the 11.

Its sad that you cannot sample them in a quiet room at the Apple store.

At this point, I'd say call Apple Accessibility.
You'll get better answers more quickly.
I'm assuming the same, but I had used both iCloud and computer backups; and so
I'll defer to the experts.

drive on as well as have backed up the phone with iCloud as well. I mean I can

Hello,
The positionning for the transfert is:
new iPhone under and the old one above with the camera facing the new one.
The camera should point a little lower than the center of the new one and the
distance between both should be about 6 inch.
Hope it helps!

Re: Setting up new iPhone SE 2020

2020-04-25 Thread Richard Turner
Well, I cannot help with the positioning of the phone for the image they offer,
but the manual method worked fine, and that button is just beyond where the
position the phone instructions are and I got to it by just flicking right.
The phones just need to be near each other.
The message popped up when they were probably a foot apart.
Yes, I had set up the wifi, which I assume is necessary, though bluetooth being
on is likely the most important.
The Logitech k480 is a full sized keyboard minus the number pad. There are a
lot of VoiceOver keyboard commands, but they work great.
I have a document that covers them and a document with the keyboard commands
and the gestures in tables to help with connecting which keyboard commands
equal the gestures.
They are on my website. www.turner42.com

Re: Setting up new iPhone SE 2020

2020-04-25 Thread Deidre Muccio
I have one more thing that might be a problem unless I make a change. My phone
has also arrived. I have a different Apple sign in on the new phone because my
old email and my whole sign in well the old sign in on my old phone works just
fine except that I can’t access that email any longer so I used a different
email address in a different password. Will I need the two signings and emails
to match before I do anything? Is that a question for Apple Accessibility? I
asked that question of them recently and they said no it wouldn’t make any
difference, but given the way Richard set up his phone, it Richard that might
make a big difference.

2020-04-25 Thread Deidre Muccio
Richard Well that sounds cool. I might try that too. And I don’t have anywhere
near 200 apps on my phone. Can you say more about how I would position the two
phones near one another that would work well? The one thing that stood out in
what you wrote here that is different from what I was told by someone at Apple
Accessibility, is that they said I needed to do the set up with the Sim card in
the new phone. You did it all without the Sim card in the phone which is what I
assumed I would be able to do if I wanted. you must’ve had to plug in your
Wi-Fi info to activate the phone correct?
Can I assume that the Logitech keyboard you referring to is a full-size
keyboard? How different on the commands one needs to learn to use that with an
iPhone andvoice dream writer? I’m ready to get rid of my old computer.

Greetings,
I won't bore you with all the details of today's saga, but after I turned
on the new phone and triple tapped the home button, VoiceOver came on and
I was able to continue the setup.
When I got to the option to set it up by placing the old phone near it, I
decided to try that.

I couldn't get the image focused, but there was a manual option.
Picking that, gave me a 6 digit number to enter and I was off and running.
Now, I have too many apps, well, less than 200; but still a lot of apps.
I have over 12000 songs.
Previously, when restore a backup on my computer, the music alone could
take several hours.

Well, this method took less than an hour.
Some apps were still downloading after it was complete wiht the transfer,
but i was able to go ahead and deal with other settings.
I paired it with my Logitech K480 keyboard which is what I am typing this
on.

I put in the old SIM card and can call, and receive calls, etc.
All my Email accounts were there with all the messages.
Text messages are there.
So, this is pretty slick.
The phone sounds a lot better than the previous model.
That's all for now.

Re: Setting up new iPhone SE 2020

2020-04-24 Thread Mary Otten
Hi richard,
I don’t know how many iPhones you have heard over the years, but I wonder if
you would be able to comment on the sound of your new phone as against the
sound of things like say an iPhone 8. Or an iPhone X.

Re: Setting up new iPhone SE 2020

2020-04-24 Thread Gordon
Congratulations on your new purchase. This phone is sounding better
every day. Please come back here in a few days and let us know how the
battery life is on this device. I wouldn't even begin to pay attention
to battery life until Monday as the phone does things under the hood
during the first few days that will consume more battery than usual. But
I'm curious to see if this phone offers better battery life compared to
the iPhone 8.

Previously, when restore a backup on my computer, the music alone could take
several hours.
Well, this method took less than an hour.
Some apps were still downloading after it was complete wiht the transfer, but i
was able to go ahead and deal with other settings.
I paired it with my Logitech K480 keyboard which is what I am typing this on.
I put in the old SIM card and can call, and receive calls, etc.
All my Email accounts were there with all the messages.
Text messages are there.
So, this is pretty slick.
The phone sounds a lot better than the previous model.
That's all for now.
