Re: Spell a persons email address
Well, if you're 4 screens deep into completing a task, the scrub gesture is a quick way of returning to the previous screen one by one. This is especially useful when in Settings screens. Yes, one can just as quickly find the Back button at top left hand corner of device, but the scrub gesture sometimes feels faster though this is more than likely a perceptual illusion. :) LS - Original Message - From: Alan Paganelli alanandsuza...@earthlink.net To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, May 03, 2013 2:57 PM Subject: Re: Spell a persons email address David, speaking of gestures, I've never found a use for the scrub gesture. Hello, the scrub gesture simulates pressing the back button in an app. For example, Lets say your in an inbox in the mail app,. Performing the scrub gesture would bring you back to the very first screen in mail where all of your inboxes and e-mail accounts are listed. Scrub gesture [was Re: Spell a persons email address]
The scrub gesture takes you back to the previous screen. I think it only works in apps that support it though. It may just be user error on my part, but I don't find it very reliable, e.g. I don't find it works in every app. On 05/03/2013 04:57 PM, Alan Paganelli wrote: David, speaking of gestures, I've never found a use for the scrub gesture. Re: Scrub gesture [was Re: Spell a persons email address]
Hi, this is correct. It doesn't work in all apps. It does work in all Apple apps and at least for me, the majority of 3rd party apps. I wouldn't categorize it as unreliable though just, not universal. Flick straight down with one finger. If you don't hear it try flicking up. You might be at the end of the address. Flicking down moves you forward and flicking up moves you backward. Re: Spell a persons email address
You may also need to be on the email address before reading character by character. For example, I haven't found reading character by character to jump from a label into the edit field. Re: Spell a persons email address
If VO is jumping whilst reading character by character, you are most likely touching the display outside your flicks. Go to settings, general, accessibility, VoiceOver, practice area, then touch the middle of the display. You will be in practice mode and can practice all the gestures until you perform them correctly 100% of the time. I strongly recommend everyone do this, and do it myself whenever commands start doing funny things on my iPhone. The command structure is sound, so the funny things means I am getting sloppy with my gestures. Re: Spell a persons email address
I think you could rotate to characters and flick down, but for sure if you ware doing it on a bluetooth keyboard it's control option W twice and that should do it too.
