Re: Tonidos - Voiceover Compatible Remote Access
No, I am used to writing out instructions for my mom. She knows very little about using a computer, so I have to walk her through everything, lol. I just try and give exact details so no one ends up confused and they can get the job done with very little stress. -Original Message- From: Alan Lemly Sent: Saturday, July 20, 2013 4:22 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Tonidos - Voiceover Compatible Remote Access Mama Peach, what excellent instructions and thanks for this tutorial on setting up Tonido. Be sure you choose the file that is appropriate for your operating system. It is best to use Internet Explorer for this. If you are wanting to access your main computer, you must install this file to that computer. Tonido's download page is: http://www.tonido.com/application_download.html Once you have this file downloaded, you of course have to install it. Once installed, you must launch the file in order to create your new account with Tonido. Please note that once installed, the Tonido Desktop file is set to run in your system tray, so there is no need to activate it from the actual .exe file, unless you have shut it off and want to turn it back on. Then simply activate it from the icon that hopefully you told it to place on your desktop. Once launched, you will be prompted to create your new account. In the first edit field, you must provide your chosen account name. Below this is a link where you can check to make sure your chosen account name is available to use. Check this by simply arrowing down once. It will most likely tell you that it is available, unless of course someone else has chosen that same name. If it is taken, shift tab and try a different account name. Tab once. In this edit field, enter in your chosen account password. Tab again. In this edit field, reenter your chosen account password. The tonido would have to be installed on each computer, more than likely using different user names and passwords for each Tonido account, so it will know which computer goes with which account. -Original Message- From: Carol Pearson Sent: Saturday, July 20, 2013 11:40 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Tonidos - Voiceover Compatible Remote Access What if you have more than one computer? RE: Tonidos - Voiceover Compatible Remote Access
Hi Emilio, Tonido has been discussed quite a lot a few months ago, but of course it is always a good idea to revisit certain popular topics. The first question that would come to my mind is whether it is possible to set a passcode for the app on an iOS device. I could see a potential security risk here because if you you're your iPhone or it was stolen and you have information on your computer which is private and most of us do, then somebody suddenly might have access to that. I know that Tonido only works if your computer is on and the Tonido app is also installed on your PC or Mac which means you can probably change the password or uninstall the app on the computer to stop it from being accessed, but if your phone was stolen somebody could potentially get at information by the time you can do this and the only way to prevent this would be either if your iPhone was protected with a passcode to begin with or if the app could be protected since many people don't want the inconvenience of having to enter a passcode everytime they unlock their phone. Tonidos - Voiceover Compatible Remote Access
Hello everyone, This Message is a cross-post because of its utility. Tonido is an accessible and free way to move and share files, which is voiceover compatible for Mac OS X and the iPhone. The macintosh client resides in the menubar, but the iPhone app is where the benefits of this app are seen. The iPhone app recognizes my entire computer and allows me to access external drives also. The web site is accessible and making an account took me less than 5 minutes. The iPhone client will prompt you for the account credentials and a specific URL, which is necessary to view your computer. Please note that the URL is going to take the form of http://username.tonidoid.com. This will need to be entered into the URL section when logging into your account from the iPhone. (This URL can just be copied from the Tonido support e-mail you will receive after an account has been created). If you Google "tondo" it will be the first link in the results section. Hope this has been helpful. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Post a new message to VIPhone by emailing viphone@googlegroups.com.
