I had to make sure monitor was turned on, so I could hear myself and my guitar through my headset. My headset had a mike on the cord, so the dolby on was using that mike. RE: Weird Recording Bug
Well, moving the microphone further back may help for the distortion too. But, if you know someone with aa 12, 13, or now 14 pro, perhaps they could let you record something with their phone. Especially with the Camera Video mode since it will record in stereo and you may find you get a much better sound. I don't know if the XS utilizes the stereo mic or even if it has them. But, I know their processing is much better. Though I do not know if you can turn off the Apple filters on the mic. Hi Brandon, I asked my wife to look at the video. She thinks the phone is too close. I was thinking if you moved it back it might help on the clipping/distortion, but she says it should be moved back because she cannot see the whole keyboard or all of you. You get cut off at about your right ear/shoulder. There may be some settings to adjust the microphone level in the app. I haven't delved deeply into it, but it also has lots of adjustment features that can be applied after the recording. It is just more than I need for what little I record.=, which is mostly spoken word stuff. I hope that helps. You shouldn't need an external microphone. But, if you do, I have a Zoom IQ6 I'm not using since my 13 pro has great stereo recording ability that I will gladly sell for much less than a new one. Awesome, thanks! I'll check that one out. RE: Weird Recording Bug
You should find Dolby ON has a good response on that phone. It does video and I think now can stream directly to things like YouTube. It has lots of settings to explore, but it is free. First, nice playing. I think you are getting some clipping where the sound is too loud for the recorder. Are you set on having a video? If so, I don't know what other app to recommend. For audio, I personally find Just Press Record to be fabulous! You didn't say which phone you have. If it is a newer one with stereo microphones, you should get a more open sounding recording. There may be a way in the camera app to turn off Apple's built in filters, I don't know. You can turn them off in Just Press Record. Just Press Record is $4.99.
