I have experienced the app crashing when I have tried to play a podcast that is
downloaded on Downcast. The Downcast developer is well aware of voiceover
screen reader users. It does not crash all the time, but it does. I will wait
for the developer to fix it. I love this PodCatcher.

You can also save different effects with different podcasts, so if one has a

Re: downcast being unstable after updating to ios 10.3

2017-04-01 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

What I love about Overcast is the high sound quality when I speed things up. In
addition to listening quickly, there's a Smart Speed effect that makes podcasts
shorter by shortening pauses and a voice Boost effect that equalizes the
volume. I realized how good the Voice Boost effect was when I listened to a
podcast with a Skype interview. The host apologized profusely at the end for a
discrepancy in volume between the host and caller. I heard no such discrepancy;
both of them came through just fine.

You can also save different effects with different podcasts, so if one has a
host who talks particularly fast, you can listen to that show at a slower speed
than other podcasts.

Best,
Anna

Going off of memory, but I’m pretty sure there’s an export option in Downcast
settings where you can generate an OPML file with all your subscription feeds
to import into another app or backup. I think you can even import directly from
Overcast. I’m not entirely sure about that though.

This would be a real bummer if Downcast has in fact been abandoned. Hopefully

Haven’t used iCatcher in a long time. Any chance 3X is now available? I wrote

Would love to hear what people like so much about Overcast. I consider myself a
power podcast user with over 100 subscriptions and now the stupid Overcast app
just keeps force quitting and this was after removing the app and reinstalling.
What an awful app.

I just re downloaded Overcast which I have not used in about a year, and
unfortunately it wants to download over 13,000 episodes. I clicked the stream
button at the top but the app still seems to want to download the episodes.
Would love to hear if there is a way to stop this as the device gets really hot
while attempting to download all these episodes, and it also looks like it will
not download any episodes as the number just stays the same.

RE: downcast being unstable after updating to ios 10.3

2017-04-01 Thread Cristóbal
The only drawback with iCatcher or at least why I’m partial to Downcast is that
downcast allows for 3X playback speed. I believe Overcast also allows for 3X
playback, but Downcast offers more customizable settings which I prefer for
certain podcasts.

This would be a real bummer if Downcast has in fact been abandoned. Hopefully
the dev is just slow to put out an update. When I’ve written in the past about
this or that issue, I’ve usually gotten a response.

Haven’t used iCatcher in a long time. Any chance 3X is now available? I wrote
the iCatcher dev in the past about it and at that time, he said that he had no
plans on bumping playback speed to 3X. I’d even be happy with 4X, but doubt
that anyone’s going to go that high. It would be ideal to be able to use the
native podcast app, but so far, the third part ones at least for my money,
offer an overall better experience.

Hi,

Unfortunately, this app hasn't been updated in a while. ICatcher is still
actively being updated and is fully accessible. Plus the author is aware of
voiceOver users.

Hope this helps,

Yeah I really hope the app will be updated. I like it a lot since you can see
all the popular podcast in your local country as well as others so often find
new podcasts that way. I have not seen that in overcast for example.

2017-03-31 Thread Brett
Hi,
Unfortunately, this app hasn't been updated in a while. ICatcher is still
actively being updated and is fully accessible. Plus the author is aware of
voiceOver users.

Hope this helps,
Brett.

Cheers Brett.

Re: downcast being unstable after updating to ios 10.3

2017-03-31 Thread Brian Fischler
The problem is Downcast has not had an update since prior to iOS 10 being
released. It is looking like the developer jumped ship on this app which really
bums me out as Downcast has been my favorite podcast app for years. Guess I
will not be updating to iOS 10.3 any time soon between this issue and the 3D
Touch issue.

Re: downcast being unstable after updating to ios 10.3

2017-03-31 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hi. I haven't used Downcast a lot this week since updating to 10.3,
and have not experienced this behavior yet. I will have to catch up on
podcasts this weekend and see if it occurs. Is this when listening to
podcasts, refreshing, or doing something else in Downcast?
