I think the country is going to a 10 digit dialing system very soon so those
who do not have the area code in the contact will have to go back in and change
it. I have had a cell phone for years and know that when traveling you need to
have that area code or the call won't go through. Apparently, now we'll soon
be forced to add them even on local calls.

This is often because you don't have the full phone number stored in your
address book, or you have the same number stored twice. Either way, the iPhone
gets confused.

So make sure you have (123) 456-7890 and not just 456-7890 stored.

One foolproof method is to delete the number from the particular contact,
then have them call you, and choose to 'Add to existing contact'

That way, the number will be stored exactly the way the cellular carrier
transmits it.

iOS 6 ringtone Bug

2013-02-04 Thread Scott Rumery
Hello,

It seems as though that I have been bitten by one of the iOS 6 bugs. I have
just discovered that I am unable to change my ringtone from the default Mirimba
tone and it is beginning to get on my last nerve. Is there anyone on this list
that has been able to resolve this issue? If so, would you please let me know
how to resolve this on my iPhone 4S?

Thank you,
Scott Rumery

RE: iOS 6 ringtone Bug

2013-02-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Scott,

I don't have this problem on my iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1. When you bring up
the list of ringtones in Settings, Sounds, Ringtone, what happens when you
double tap on a ringtone to select it? Does Voiceover say Selected and
then when you double tap on Back at the top left of the screen, does it
say it uses the ringtone but then when somebody calls it just doesn't?

Sieghard

Re: iOS 6 ringtone Bug

2013-02-04 Thread Scott Rumery
That is exactly what is happening and from doing a Google search on my problem
I found a Mac World post on what is being called an iOS 6 default ringtone bug.
They give some supposed bug fixes and I have tried them all, but my phone will
still only use the Marimba default ringtone.
