RE: purpose of apple tv
Christopher, "Can't be" is an impossible statement. I can tell you with 100% certainty that Apple is indeed working on a new Apple TV and they probably were working on it before the 4th Generation Apple TV was even released just as they have teams which are probably already working on the 2018 iPhone. In large corporations like that where so much is at stake it is not like they say "OK, now the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are released, let's all take a few weeks off and then we'll start brain storming what we should do next year". However, whether a new Apple TV will be released next year or in 2018 is anybody's guess and just because the rumourmill in cyberspace hasn't started cranking out guesses as to what it will be doesn't mean there won't be one. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the current model is capable of 4K streaming and just as certain as I know they are working on a new version I can tell you that said new version will support 4K, a lot of people were disappointed that the 4th Gen didn't since the iPhones which were released at the same time (the 6S and 6S Plus) can record video in 4K. I think this was very much a marketing decision by Apple, the current version could have easily been capable of streaming 4K content, but Apple probably thought after not having released a new Apple TV for so long and with the new app store, the new TVOS and SIRI they could get away with it and benefit from a few million people who have bought the 4th Generation Apple TV also buying the 5th Generation when it comes out with 4K support. I know you are quite an Apple fan boy and I am somewhat guilty of that myself at least when it comes to iPhones, the Apple TV and, recently, my new Apple Watch series 2, but I still look at the larger picture and that picture tells me that Apple is no different when it comes to making profits, they are just as greedy as everybody else and have no scruples to squeeze the consumer for as many Dollars, Pounds, Euros or whatever other currency as possible while at the same time trying to avoid paying taxes as much as possible. In fact I would go as far as to say that some other companies and current or former CEO's such as Bill Gates are a lot more philanthropic as Steve Jobbs ever was. RE: purpose of apple tv
Tim Cook and a few others at Apple could answer that question, but they of course won't and everything else is complete speculation and guessing. I assume it is possible that they may release an update since I believe the current model does not support 4K and it would make sense with that technology becoming more purvasive that Apple would release an Apple TV that supports it. RE: purpose of apple tv
Hi Kliphton, Just thought I add to your very good and concise post about the Apple TV that even though Donald Trump may not agree, the world is larger than the United States and all these channels you can watch/listen to on the Apple TV if you have an existing subscription are limited to the US. Fanus is in South Africa and I’m in Canada and while we have Netflix here, there is a lot less content available than on the american Netflix due to copyright and licensing issues and most of the other ones you mentioned are not available even in Canada let alone elsewhere in the world. I find it amazing how some companies tute their horn about all these great devices but they forget to mention that you can only get them in the United States, Amazon is one example. Fanus, as for the Apple TV, it still is a wonderful device even in Canada since it does allow me to use apps like Youtube, many apps from tech sites like Engadget, Twit TV and also Podcasts. I can stream music and of course movies I bought from iTunes, you can rent iTunes movies which I assume is available in many countries and Netflix is also available in many countries and it’s probably the most accessible experience on the Apple TV. Furthermore I can Airplay anything from my iPhone to the Apple TV even if there I sno native app and if I want to show photos to friends on the big screen then I can also do that. It’s not a super expensive device as Apple things are concerned and as Kliphton said, it is fully accessible with it’s own version of Voiceover. It’s a pretty good device to have if you are at all invested in the Apple Echo system and in the future it will also play nice with many home automation devices if you are into this type of stuff. I really appreciate it. I really dislike saying this, because I was so hesetant to purchase it. But I absolutely love it! I think it's awesome! My friend helped me set it up, because I didn't see the message in time, telling me how to start voiceover. But once we got voiceover on, I took it over. I actually like the little gesture area. I thought it would be very difficult to use. But not at all. And I like how you press the little clicker thing at the end. Ok, surely not the propper name for it. LOL! The keyboard is still a bit confusing to me. But overall I like the new set up so far. I find it faster to choose letters, and such. Also, one feature I really loved, was ho

Well, it does more than stream music an movies. You can log in to most channels offered buy a service provider like time warner, comcast, or direct. Of course you must pay for these subscriptions, or get someone to share there info with you. The appleTV also has some games to be played on it. My favorite app is infuse, this allows me to stream my entire movie collection to my appleTV4 without using iTunes, or having to leave my mac on for Plex or some other third party. And the best part about it, I don’t have to convert my movie files in to mp4, they can be any format and infuse will stream them. The most important thing for most of us, is we don’t need sited help to control the appleTV, voiceover reads everything on the screen so we can control HBO, netflix, Hulu, or whatever service you are using, including the network TV apps at that have on demand content. > On Nov 3, 2016, at 2:00 PM, Fanus wrote: > > Hello Sieghard and list > Please pardon my stupid question but can anyone in a few sentences explain > the purpose of the apple tv. purpose of apple tv
Hello Sieghard and list Please pardon my stupid question but can anyone in a few sentences explain the purpose of the apple tv. Is it only for downloading and playing music and movies on the tv or can one control the tv set to a certain extent i.e. can one hear the menu and shedule normal tv programs etc.? I am not a movie fan so I ask this question on behalf of a blind friend who wants to access the tv. Unfortunately, I don't know many apps, and I honestly don't know how to search for such things. I'd like to find apps that are pretty accessible. But I'd try some apps just to check them out as well, if I knew how to find them. Also, how do you know which news apps give broadcasts of stories, and not just articles? I know NPR has a news app. Any help with any of this would be much appreciated. I'm going to mess around with the Apple tv more, tomorrow. I am definitely happy I bought it. I can't believe now that I was so intimidated by it. Thank you, Terri On 11/2/2016 9:42 AM, Daniel L.
